I grew up loving Anne Murray’s version of Snowbird and never heard a version that I enjoyed much…. Until now. What an amazing singer and arrangement. This is how I enjoy music. Just pure singing and good instrumentals and nature with no extras!
Yes I agree this is even better then Anne or Elvis....as a young man about 10 years Old My father and Gene became good friends and I heard it live for the Master in his cottage in granville PEI. What a view Gene had there, I remember the exact place and who was with me the day he passed! such a sad day for all of Canada, I knew and worked for his father philip in the mid to late 70s, Gene was all about love and just wanted to be set free and now he sings with the snowbirds. He wrote and gave my dad a song back when they sang together in churches
Snow Bird was written by the great Gene MacLellan of PEI and sung by Gene and of course made famous by Anne Murray of Spring Hill, Nova Scotia. Ryan Cook , also, I believe is from NS and does a good job on it. Thanks for sharing.
Beneath this snowy mantle cold and clean The unborn grass lies waiting For its coat to turn to green The snowbird sings the song he always sings And speaks to me of flowers That will bloom again in spring When I was young My heart was young then, too Anything that it would tell me That's the thing that I would do But now I feel such emptiness within For the thing that I want most in life's The thing that I can't win Spread your tiny wings and fly away And take the snow back with you Where it came from on that day The one I love forever is untrue And if I could you know that I would Fly away with you The breeze along the river seems to say That he'll only break my heart again Should I decide to stay So, little snowbird Take me with you when you go To that land of gentle breezes Where the peaceful waters flow Spread your tiny wings and fly away And take the snow back with you Where it came from on that day The one I love forever is untrue And if I could you know that I would Fly away with you Yeah, if I could you know that I would Fly away with you
Excelente Interpretación!!! Grandes Músicos!! Admirables en Solistas!! Ryan, Amo tu Voz y Admiro tu Profesionalismo. Tienes un Bello Perfil y una Bella Sonrisa. Desde Chile. South America.
Wow. Pretty nice. And the whole set up (the band) sounds natural n effortless like willie nelson and his band ... I have been listening to every rendition i can find and this ranks up there on top ... Also it is nice to hear a man sing it , and in a spare manner ... Could you do it with the french verse in there? And I agree with Gene Williams' comment (below)
The birds in the background make this rendition that much better, eh. Like to play the solo on my mini bongos along with Expo guy. Great scenery to boot. As well as a lovely, cuddly young lady, now I feel as happy as pie. Awsome sound by everyone. Oh yeah, I like the sweaters on the 2 of you as well.
That mandolin playing is beautiful!

Ryan Cook, your voice takes flight with this version of my favorite song, thank you!
Just dreamt about this song the other night from an Elvis album in the 70s. Really like this one. TY, for the updated modern version.

I love this tune. It is a classic for many reasons that and that the mandolin player is wearing an EXPOS cap well that just makes it extra special!!!

What a lovely version. Enjoyed that a lot.
Beneath this snowy mantle cold and clean
The unborn grass lies waiting
For its coat to turn to green
The snowbird sings the song he always sings
And speaks to me of flowers
That will bloom again in spring
When I was young
My heart was young then, too
Anything that it would tell me
That's the thing that I would do
But now I feel such emptiness within
For the thing that I want most in life's
The thing that I can't win
Spread your tiny wings and fly away
And take the snow back with you
Where it came from on that day
The one I love forever is untrue
And if I could you know that I would
Fly away with you
The breeze along the river seems to say
That he'll only break my heart again
Should I decide to stay
So, little snowbird
Take me with you when you go
To that land of gentle breezes
Where the peaceful waters flow
Spread your tiny wings and fly away
And take the snow back with you
Where it came from on that day
The one I love forever is untrue
And if I could you know that I would
Fly away with you
Yeah, if I could you know that I would
Fly away with you

good stuff....gene would have loved it i'm sure.
Ryan always does a good job, but I'd have picked a slightly lower key. It's just a tad high at the top. Great rendition, though. :)
If you don't how will you
No, no, no. No!!! There are so many fine covers of this hit song. Unfortunately, this isn’t one of them.
Do you have a voice
Anne Murray from Nova Scotia made this song her provincial anthem.
