Very cute. It doesn't seem like Mama knows what to do; she leaves baby on the ground a lot. I'm sure she'll get the hang of it but other orangutans I've seen keep their newborns close to their chest.
Yes, she is a first time mum and looks very unsure. The Blackpool research team were monitoring mum and baby very closely all day. Mum Jingga was transferred to Blackpool from Barcelona so we don't know if she has ever had any interaction with baby's before. Thanks for watching, have a great Sunday. 👍
Orangutans are just the cutest. I'm a sucker for most primates other than humans. The babies, like most babies, are beyond precious. This tot is the youngest I've seen 😊 it melts my heart
Me too I was always a lover of the monkeys apes group and I never knew why. Even as a child I would tell my parents I want to stay at the monkey / ape area and would watch them as my family went and saw the other animals.
Funny to sometimes see this babies being hand raised under extreme care by humans for a few weeks, and as soon as they are reunited with their moms they start getting tossed and punched like rag dolls by them…I guess that’s what some call “tough love”…😂😂😂😂
Has the baby nursed? I hate to be negative, and I’ve only seen this clip, but unless the mother does a 180 and starts holding the baby close to her and allowing it to suckle- they will end up needing to find a surrogate or the least favorable option human intervention 😢. Thanks for the great video.
We wondered the same, baby is a few weeks old now so must be feeding however the whole time we were there we never saw him feed. Mum is obviously very inexperienced and the Blackpool Zoo research team is monitoring them both closely. We are hoping to get back there soon for an update video. Thanks for watching, enjoy the week ahead. 🥰
@@ApeTracker1 In the video, he looks as if he was just born, his skin is very wrinkled, and the mother does everything that orangutan mothers don't do. I hope she realizes it's her baby and doesn't leave him! How old is she?
@@xa9590 I mean, she's practically matured, but not necessarily mentally. Animals in the zoo, more and more often reject their offspring, because raised in an unnatural environment, they lose their natural behavior, which is very sad. I hope this little one will not be abandoned and that he is fed enough, although I know that a female can leave a child even after a few weeks.
Amazing amazing. Orangs are such astonishing fellows. There is something about their expressions that I find heartbreaking, but I don't know why I should. Perhaps it is because I know that are so so critically endangered. Most heartfelt of thanks to all the people at Blackpool Zoo who are working to offset the harm that other humans are doing to these mysterious beautiful intelligent emotional fellow beings.
Thanks so much for watching, we feel the same and never tire of observing the Orangutans. Like you say they have a heartwarming personality. The Zoos that we spend most time at, Chester and Blackpool really do work hard for the welfare of these magnificent Apes. Glad you enjoyed the video, keep well and have a great Sunday. 👍
I'm in total awe of their human like behavior. Of course I always am but they never cease to amaze me by upping the ante every time. Other than I thought she was rougher than other moms and usually for at least the first few weeks they keep them close to their chest so baby can nurse whenever it wants or riding on her back by her neck for a little while. Anyway, back to the awe part. She rubs and pats its back. That's just sweeter than candy to me!! That's an act of affection and love. The other day I saw one that when it got fussy she gently shook and rocked it side to side. We've got all these idiots out here saying they're dumb and nasty animals. One called them vermin. I just don't see much more intelligence between that person and the orang LOL BRW the title mentioned something about Magic. She especially said it when she put it in between the celery stalks. Where did I miss the magic??🤷😊
Yes they are really amazing, we could watch them all day, she is a little rough and is a new and inexperienced mum. Fortunately the Blackpool Zoo research team is monitoring them both very closely. Thanks for watching and for the great comment. 🥰
They need to take the baby. It's sad to say this, but if they don't intvine that Baby isn't going to be around. It's happened at Other Zoo's, the Baby passed away, because the first time Mom stopped feeding the Baby. She didn't know what or how to take Care of The Baby. Everyone Have A Blessed Day.
I feel sorry for this adorable sweet baby! You do not hear it screech or squeal and these are my favorite of the Great Apes. I learned so much about these adorable smart wild animals. I'm so glad they don't act like squealing brats and prove to be the best wild animal baby ever!! I love these guys! ❤❤
I couldn’t see what she was doing wrong except she is a bit rough around the edges. She was observant to the little one. As she was eating. But he wasn’t crying so she must be feeding him as he was quiet and alert like he should be. He didn’t look malnourished at all as he was moving around.
Definitely keep an eye out for them …… there is no way the mum should be putting her baby down at that age …. She should be tightly attached to mum at ALL times that stage ….. who knows though living in captivity for so long she may have worked out there are no threats in the enclosure so feels comfortable knowing the baby is safe…. But it’s still most unusual for the mum to let go and the baby not to panic and scream/cry or protest at no contact with mum 🤷♀️🙄 not at all normal behaviour for an Orangutan 🦧
She is very inexperienced as a mom however it's clear she loves the baby. Orangutan can be taught. I saw a doc on an inexperienced mom who was shown how to breastfeed her baby by a human mom and it worked! She only needs to carry her properly. Easy peasy
Thanks so much for watching and commenting, glad you enjoyed the video, we really had a great time getting to see the new baby. Hope you are having a wonderful weekend. 🥰
I thought baby orangs were kept close to the mother's chest when newborn. This doesn't look like any other mother baby interaction I've ever seen. Odd, to say the least.
Yes, this is different behaviour than we have seen from the Orangutans at Chester. She is a new mum and possibly has never been around a baby before. The research team at the zoo is spending a lot of time monitoring them both. Thanks so much for watching. 🥰
@@ApeTracker1 As long as there is someone who noticed, that makes me relieved. It's never pretty when a mother ape puts down her baby and walks away. I was concerned that they might do that. Thanks for responding.
I'm watching the second video with this mother and her new baby and so far I'm not convinced by her motherhood! She doesn't even know what to do with this child, the orangutan would never put the child on the ground, because there is no such possibility on the tree, she should hold it tightly and not leave it even for a moment. I hope the guardians are vigilant because it doesn't look good.
@@donataj2213 My thoughts exactly. The baby should be against her chest, to feed and keep warm. Frustrated that the staff seem oblivious to this fact. The baby was getting weak from hunger and seemed to be losing consciousness at one point.
@@tardismole I believe less and less in super good zoo staff, recently a gorilla was born at the Columbus zoo and the staff was shocked because for 8 years they thought the gorilla was a male? how carers do not know for 8 years whether they have a male or female, and the best thing is that there is only her father and her brother on the catwalk and one of them is the father of the child! So if in this case, the guardians also see nothing wrong with the mother's behavior towards this poor child, what to think? Mother wouldn't let go of such a tiny orangutan for a moment!

Thanks so much for watching and commenting, we do have a short video up of him feeding and we have a longer one to follow, we were concerned at first that baby wasn't feeding but he seems to be more and more now. We spoke to zoo staff and they said they only step in if it is critical as this can also have an adverse effect on babies. They have said that mother and baby are making good progress. 🥰
Oh someone please show her how to cuddle that tiny baby!! I thought all mothers just automatically would know to cuddle close for warmth and protection and to nurse their baby. I've not seen this little one get to feed at all yet!!

Yes, hopefully she will grow into the role with a little more time and practice. We will be returning to get regular updates. Thanks so much for watching and commenting. Have a great weekend. 👍
If Jingga (sp) was going to reject her baby she would have already done so. She's just an inexperience first time mom...just as some humans are. Tayari was a very inexperienced first time mom (borderline abusive and neglectful) at Taipei Zoo with Jabali and he's now a thriving and healthy gorilla 3 y/o...without human intervention, which is a last resort for zoos. And she's become a very good mom over time. It's hard for humans to view primates without holding them to our standards. And all of us viewers are only shown short video clips into their day. Give this first time mom a chance to grow into her new "mommy" status. If human intervention is needed, the zoo staff will step in and assist.
Yep we totally agree, it is hard for us to look at things without comparing them to how humans do things and as you say she is a first time inexperienced mum. We don't have much knowledge of Barcelona Zoo from where she came, so she may never have even see another Orangutan baby before. Thanks for the great informative post, we really appreciate it Meg. 🥰
Our girl Tayari was certainly something. Without anthropomorphizing them, I still think there are a range of very good and very bad mothers in the ape community and on a scale of 0 to 10, orangutan Jazz is about a 10, gorilla Tayari was about a 2. If she were a human, her son would probably be calling his grandma "mom". 😂 I mean, she nearly jumped directly on him multiple times in a row and didn't like feeding him, but she gets a 2 for not out right rejecting him. Hopefully Jingga is not neglectful and will get a hang of it sooner or later.
Due to her being in her own enclosure she does sometimes leave him unattended because she knows there are no threats. I spoke to one of the volunteers in depth about it. Thanks for watching. 🥰
It's so interesting to see the different ways that orangutans approach motherhood. This one seems to like to hold the baby away from her and kept largely in her hands. Orangutan Jazz always kept her babies close to her person.
It’s a bit alarming she doesn’t hold it like other orangutan moms an you don’t see the babe suckling, I’d say her behavior is coming across as problematic. She’s handling him improperly. I hope the zoo steps in quick
Yes, the research team were monitoring them both for most of the time we were there, so hopefully they will lend a hand if needed. Thanks so much for watching. 👍
I love orangs but her baby looks way too small and I know she newborn but she looks very weak. know her backstory and she is a new mom I hope she looks healthier than this now..
She is a new and inexperienced mum, while we were there the staff regularly closed off the enclosure so that the research team could monitor them both. We are planning a visit back there in a week or so for some updates. Thanks so much for watching and commenting, we really appreciate it. 🥰
When are you going back? It's been ages. I just saw a tiktok and Jonga was hanging from the edges of the netting and Jarang was hanging onto her foot. She then came to the window to show him off and then held on to one arm and dangled him while hanging onto the neting with one hand! This baby is going to be a nervous wreck or an adrenalin junkie at this rate! Living on the edge!
We visited the Zoo yesterday and are working on editing the footage, hopefully we will get an update video up tomorrow. Jingga is still handling Jarang in an unorthodox way but he is feeding and is doing ok. We got a lot of footage of them and are going to work on regular updates. 🥰
Is the baby nursing? I think it’s different from any other orang mother but she’s a new mommy trying her best time will tell ♥️ her being monitored makes me feel better
Baby is nursing and Jingga continues to look after the baby independently We have an update video of the baby at 3 months old, on the channel Thanks for watching
That poor baby looks like a skeleton, he is not supposed to look like that! His mom obviously doesn't know what she is doing. It's her first baby. She doesn't know that she needs to nurse every 2 hours and hold him on her all the time. He looks dehydrated and wrinkly. He is obviously not getting the nutrition that he needs from his mother. Zookeepers need to step in and bottle feed him at least. 😢
Maybe, but to be honest if you watch the viral video, it wasn't the greatest of ticks 🤣🪄🤣 Thanks so much for watching, keep well and enjoy your Sunday. 👍
Yes, she is only young and inexperienced, when we spoke to zoo staff they said she was making progress and that they hadn't needed to step in which is good news for baby. Thanks so much for watching. 👍
Why doesn't someone hold a fake baby , I'm thinking that Orangutans learn and copy very well. Maybe she'll start to hold him ifmshe sees someone doing it.
The baby is about a month old at the time of the video so must be feeding, the time we spent here we didn't see the mother feed the baby though. They are both being monitored by the Zoo research team very closely. Hopefully we will have an update video in a couple of weeks. Thanks so much for watching. 👍
Where’s the video of when the zoo took baby to raise due to the inexperience of this sweet Mama who does not know what to do. Bless both of their hearts. I’m sure they are watching close..
Hope baby is nursing enough and being monitored, not just for cute pictures. Vet/keepers may need to intervene. Not cute watching a baby starve/dehydrate.
Yes, while we were there staff closed off the enclosure regularly whilst the Blackpool Zoo research team monitored them both. They are doing a very good job and watching them closely. 👍
I’ve watched a lot of mother and newborn orangutans but never one like this. It doesn’t look like mom is bonding with her baby. I know that for some reason orangutan mothers occasionally reject their babies and humans step in and will try to find a surrogate mom and caretakers will bottle feed. I fear for this helpless welfare.

Thanks so much for watching, we really appreciate it. 🥰
Did they let this baby die? The baby should be nursing and clinging to the mother's chest area.
The baby is alive and has been named Jarang
Bebê tão indefeso
When are you going back? It's been ages. I just saw a tiktok and Jonga was hanging from the edges of the netting and Jarang was hanging onto her foot. She then came to the window to show him off and then held on to one arm and dangled him while hanging onto the neting with one hand! This baby is going to be a nervous wreck
or an adrenalin junkie at this rate!
I wonder if Jingga is still alive today...he looks crippled, underdeveloped and disconnected from the situation
He is still alive, on my last visit he had put some weight on but hadn't developed much.
@@ApeTracker1 like in humans, all have development risks and problems. In the nature he wouldn't have survived.
Thank you for updating us
Would prefer hearing mom and baby, not the bird background noise you are playing.
Background noise is added due to a lots of noise from people wanting to get a glimpse of the new baby
Thanks for watching
She looks at it like a girl looks at her doll however it is her daughter.😮❤
Thanks for watching, really glad you enjoyed the video, enjoy the rest of your week and keep well.
Don't worry fellow tan lovers!! Humans won't let mama neglect this precious cargo!! Trust me on that!!
Thanks so much for watching. 🥰
WOW! I did not realize how very tiny newborn orangutans are!! (1:05)
Yep, they are very slow maturing within the animal kingdom and seem to stay as babies forever. Thanks so much for watching. 👍
Is the baby nursing? I think it’s different from any other orang mother but she’s a new mommy trying her best time will tell ♥️ her being monitored makes me feel better
Baby is nursing and Jingga continues to look after the baby independently
We have an update video of the baby at 3 months old, on the channel
Thanks for watching
How does the baby get milk if its down on her foot? I think they should take him away.
Shes not harming or neglecting the baby...she just needs help maybe...
We are following her progress closely, when we spoke to zoo staff they said they hadn't needed to intervene so far. Thanks so much for watching. 🥰
Super cute id give a million bucks for one. 😊
I hope the baby grows up to be a strong adult orangutan 🦧💓
That poor baby looks like a skeleton, he is not supposed to look like that! His mom obviously doesn't know what she is doing. It's her first baby. She doesn't know that she needs to nurse every 2 hours and hold him on her all the time. He looks dehydrated and wrinkly. He is obviously not getting the nutrition that he needs from his mother. Zookeepers need to step in and bottle feed him at least. 😢
He likes listening to the birds.
Thanks so much for watching, we really appreciate it. 👍
Adorable! 🧡🥰
Thank you! 🤗 so much for watching, glad you enjoyed the video. Baby Orangs are so adorable. 🥰
My favourite ape that is . They are just really a character 😂.
They are wonderful creatures, glad you like them and glad you enjoyed the video. ❤️
There is something wrong she is not holding the baby this is very hard to watch
And to think it only got worse for Jarang from here.
Thanks for watching, have a great weekend.
Милое, разумное существо орангутанг, макакам далеко до них❤❤❤
Thanks so much for watching, glad you enjoyed the video. 🥰
Proud momma
I think deep down she is, thanks for watching. 😍
Does she ever let the baby eat it sure doesn't look like it from here
Zowie!! Is sleeve feeding that baby?!!! She's treating like a toy!!
Wonder if the baby nursed. Honestly it doesn't look very healthy.
we did manage to get a little footage of the baby nursing. Thanks so much for watching.
That is the worst Orang mom I’ve ever watched!!!
I wonder if the baby will become a magic trick connoisseur?
Maybe, but to be honest if you watch the viral video, it wasn't the greatest of ticks 🤣🪄🤣 Thanks so much for watching, keep well and enjoy your Sunday. 👍
Is this mom first baby.
Yes, she is only young and inexperienced, when we spoke to zoo staff they said she was making progress and that they hadn't needed to step in which is good news for baby. Thanks so much for watching. 👍
1:45 look how she softly pets the baby on the back.❤❤
Thanks so much for watching, glad you enjoyed the video. Keep well. 🥰
Why doesn't someone hold a fake baby , I'm thinking that Orangutans learn and copy very well. Maybe she'll start to hold him ifmshe sees someone doing it.
Is that baby feeding? Doesn't seem to be nurtured, please keep a close eye on this little one. Looks thin and off colour.
The baby is about a month old at the time of the video so must be feeding, the time we spent here we didn't see the mother feed the baby though. They are both being monitored by the Zoo research team very closely. Hopefully we will have an update video in a couple of weeks. Thanks so much for watching. 👍
Mama with her "shawl" looks like an old grandma..
Is the baby OK???
Thanks so much for watching and commenting we really appreciate the support. Keep well and enjoy your weekend 👍😃👍
I have never seen another Orangutan behave this way, they are the best mothers of all apes, by far. This one is very strange, something is off..
Where’s the video of when the zoo took baby to raise due to the inexperience of this sweet Mama who does not know what to do. Bless both of their hearts. I’m sure they are watching close..
So glad I saw this
Thanks for the visit. 👍
The baby looks malnourished 😢
Thanks for watching.
I didn't know orangutans ate their boogies after picking their noses😊
Yep, they seem to do it all the time 🤣 almost as much as chimps, they pick it, look at it then eat it LOL Thanks so much for watching, keep well. 👍
@@ApeTracker1 lol....reminds me of a guy I work with
چقدر شبیه ممد هست😂😂
Hope baby is nursing enough and being monitored, not just for cute pictures. Vet/keepers may need to intervene. Not cute watching a baby starve/dehydrate.
Yes, while we were there staff closed off the enclosure regularly whilst the Blackpool Zoo research team monitored them both. They are doing a very good job and watching them closely. 👍
Beautiful animals ❤
Thanks so much for watching, glad you enjoyed the video. We really appreciate the visit. 🥰
Kein Affe ist schön!
Thanks so much for watching, hopefully mum will grow into the role, but yes she is totally inexperienced.
Надо было показать как мама кормит малыша, а то сама все ест не перестававая, а ребёнок голодный, наверное.
Thanks as always for watching, you know we appreciate your support. 🥰
Lol, look at that hair almost like a Mohawk, still precious, I love Orangutans
Yes he really is a precious little guy, glad you enjoyed the video, Keep well and have a great weekend. 👍
She seem’s to pick it up from any part of it’s body except the head thank goodness 👍🏻
Thanks for watching Deborah we really appreciate it. Keep well and have a great weekend. 👍
🎉🎉
Thanks so much for watching, have a wonderful week. 🥰
MUITO LINDO O TESTEMUNHO ESTE QUE DEUS NOS DEU A VIDA ETERNA ,ESTA VIDA ESTA NO SEU FILHO QUEM TEM O FILHO TEM A VIDA ,QUEM NAO TEM O FILHO DE DEUS NAO TEM A VIDA JOAO 5,11 A VOLTA DE JESUS E IMINENTE.
Thanks so much for watching.
Take the baby from her she doesnt care she doesnt even know how to hold it. It is pitty for the infant
Hopefully she will grow into the role. Thanks for watching. 👍
I love them.
Thanks for watching and commenting, really glad you enjoy watching Orangutans. ❤️
