    Amazing video Ken thank you. To see how you are growing your clematis is so interesting and helpful. I see you have alionushka. I planted mine last year to cover the base of a honeysuckle. It grew to one 1ft. This year I was shocked. Its reached 9ft high after a hard prune in spring and definitely needs moving next year. Its such a fab clematis for constant flowering. Such a shame it needs tying in and won't cling.

    Ken! I love the channel and look forward to your videos. You have inspired me to grow tons of clematis and they’re all in pots on my balcony. I’ve run out of room now, had to stop at 12. Thanks so much for all the information and the joy of being a clematis addict.

    I had leaves like that on a newly re-potted hybrid: the nurseryman said it should not be in ericaceous compost. We re-0tted it in plain stuff + limey gravel frrom the yard: it's quite fresh now.

    It's been terrible weather for them here, but at last my 'Blue Angel' has been flowering for a couple of weeks. 'Arabella' is still very pretty too,' 'Amber flowering twice as is 'Dr. Ruppel' The longest flowering is still 'Rouge Cardinal'. Thanks for all your great videos.

      @@kenblackclematis8272 Yesterday, clearing weeds, I found long rooting shoots from c. macropetala's pot. A dense mat of its roots bulged through the holes, so urgent, careful re-potting. That was a £15 nursery plant; very different from its card, quickly spreading blue bells up and over a Box bush; worth its money but the card/label definitely wrong.

    Really lovely to see your garden and all the different wonderful clematis, I love Sunny Side it's beautiful I have to try and find that! Morning Heaven oh dear another one for the ever growing list I bought a Prince Charles last year but it's flowering now and it's purple ! so no idea what that will be ;) My list always grows after watching your videos:) I think I have 34 now so I'm definitely trying but will never catch you up :) I have an Apple Blossom that is flowering, is this normal Ken? I was just tying a rose in to the top of an arch and the other side of it is a clematis and right at the top in the new growth I noticed there are flowers and many buds up there ! I was quite surprised to see that, it did flower in the spring but it's fairly young still so it wasn't spectacular as I've only been here since the end of '21 and I think I bought those in early '22 from Taylors.

      I am pleased that you find my videos helpful. Labels do get mixed up sometimes so sorry about your Prince Charles. You shall just have to get another one! In respect of Apple Blossom, it may be just having a second flush, which is what some \Spring clematis do. Give it a feed and it should flower again when it is supposed to. Good luck.

    Hello Ken, We are new to your video's. We have a few Clematis and love them, we also have a dead hanging basket. I think you can see where this is going. After seeing your 'Supermarket Clematis' & 'Growing Clematis in Pots'. We are thinking 2 Supermarket Clematis (one early and one late flowering) in a hanging basket which is about the same size as the pot's you use, In good compost, feed and nothing to compete with. What would your opinion and recommendations be??

    • @kenblackclematis8272
      @kenblackclematis8272  6 месяцев назад

      Hi,
      I think that it is worth trying especially if you buy cheap ones from the supermarket. The only downside is that you will not get a lot of flowers. Supermarket ones are young plants with only one or two stems. As you will know from my video I recommend pruning to increase the size of the root ball and to create more stems and hence more flowers. A bigger root ball would not last long in a hanging basket before running out of room. There are some clematis, such as “Little Lemons” that are dwarf ones bred specifically for hanging baskets. Quite a long flowering period in the UK. An alternative idea for you

    Ken I loveeeeeeeeeee... clematis and I love to watch your videos. I have a question though. I hava this trellis and I wonder if it's a good one for clematis

    • @kenblackclematis8272
      @kenblackclematis8272  6 месяцев назад

      I have no way of answering that because I don’t know what it looks like or where it is. In general a trellis is good because the structure lets light and air in on both sides. As long as the wooden slats are not too wide to the the clematis in it may be OK

    Ken i am so envious of your beautiful Clematis. I am following all your tips and my clematis are certainly improving! But one of my favourites, the spring Bluebird didn't do anything this yearsoi dug it up. After potting up the biggest bits of roots i threw the rest, soil and all into a pot. Is ti possible these shoots could be viable plants? What would be the best way to progress them please?. Hazel Luskin

    • @kenblackclematis8272
      @kenblackclematis8272  Месяц назад

      I have no idea whether what you have put in the pot is viable because it depends on so many factors. atragenes such as Blue Bird are not renoun for new growth from roots. They usually sprout from above the crown, ie the junction wherer roots and stem meet. just leave it and see what happends is all that I can suggest.
