Yes, Koreans do have strict focus on education. I had a South Korean friend in a Biblical Hebrew module. The lecture went on strike (later resigning over lack of pay and pension cuts). I asked him his opinion on this, and mentioned that when his grandparents were teachers in their homeland, they barely had enough to live by but they were traditional and conservative enough to not question the system nor go on strike. If I remember correctly, they also probably taught during WWII and Korean War (probably migrating). Just shows that Koreans take tradition and respect pretty seriously regarding education...
Every time I see these shorts I think back to my lunches as an American student. A square of pizza I’m 90% sure was freeze dried and reheated, a cup of store-bought applesauce, mac n’cheese that came out of a can the size of a watermelon, a prepackaged brownie. That wasn’t every day, mind, and some days were actually pretty good, but it was all more or less along those lines. Some of our politicians STILL think that’s too good for poor kids. While they go to lunch and debate whether to spend taxpayer money on a lobster tail or on lamb with saffron sauce.
