You never cease to amaze me with your resourcefulness Janice. It brings to mind if you were raised in this life style (homesteaders) or did you and Shawn make the decision 20 yrs ago that this is how you wanted to raise your family. Such a successful decision indeed! My admiration cup overfloweth with you both!! ♥️♥️

I make mine by sitting it in the oven wrapped in a heavy towel and the oven light on, no other heat source. Heat to 180 in a pot, then cool to 110. When at 110 then i stir in some of my last batch of yogurt as a starter, then do the oven method, after it is set i drain off the whey as i like it thicker like greek yogurt.

Interesting you use honey as your sweetener (I use Maple syrup) and add half a can of Condensed Sweetened Milk in the original milk and culture I did not know you could just stir the culture in after milk is ready. Very interesting you have taught this old dog a new trick.

I've eaten yogurt once in my life (my grandchildren eat it all the time but it's store bought) I have eaten frozen yogurt a good amount of times, from TCBY (a frozen yogurt franchise.) Could you make that with your ice cream maker? Silly question. Of course you could!!!!! My culinary skills are sorely lacking. I love watching all the magic you work in your kitchen. And what you eat is sooo healthy. Where do you store your m & m's and Hostess cupcakes??? J/K Thanks for another great video. I loved it! And sweet little Rebecca sure loves her blue babies. Hey Toni, always glad seeing you here!! I think I just like the challenge of learning new things. That way, even if I choose to buy my yogurt at the store...at least I KNOW that I know how to make it myself. It's like I get extra points for independence or "beating the system" or something. I don't know why that motivates me, but it does. Oh, and...we do still buy Hershey's kisses for homemade peanut butter cookies and ice cream sandwiches are in my freezer in the garage. It's all about moderation, right?!? :)

2 cups crustless 1/4 inch bread cubes.
      1/2 cup water
1/2 cup sugar, plus 2 tablespoons for sprinkling
      1/4 teaspoon of salt
1 tablespoon of unsalted butter, melted
To Make the Brown Bread Crumbs
Heat the oven to 350 degrees F. Bake the bread crumbs on a parchment lined baking sheet for 5 to 7 minutes. Remove from the oven. Leave the oven on.
In a medium saucepan, combine 1/4 cup of the water and the sugar and cook over medium heat until it begins to turn golden.
Pull the pan off the heat. Heat the other 1/4 cup of water in a small pan.
Check the first pan to make sure the caramel is the right color. If it's not, heat again until it's a deep amber.
Using an oven mitt, and turning your face away from the caramel (for safety), add the hot water. It will bubble up and settle.
Drizzle the caramel over the bread cubes. Sprinkle the mixture with the rest of the sugar. Add the salt and butter and toss the bread crumbs to combine.
Spread the bread crumbs back over the parchment paper and bake for 6 to 7 minutes, stirring every two minutes.
Slide the parchment onto a wire rack to let the bread crumbs cool. Once they have cooled, break them apart.
Then you just add to your favorite vanilla ice cream recipe. I hope y’all like it. My late mama loved it.

I grew up on a dairy farm and made yogurt from raw cows milk. We had Holstein cows so not as much cream on top. No need to skim off the cream. Jersey breed milk has more thick cream than our cows. Miss the homemade yogurt these days. Sad to say I now live in the city wondering if I could still make yogurt from store bought milk.

Oh, please don't feel guilty!! I just like being able to do this on my own. Plus, I own a dairy cow, so I'd feel guilty buying store-bought when I'm milking our own cow! :)

💜Good to see you today! I’ve never made yogurt..not even in my instant pot. I’ve tasted plain yogurt and I’ve eaten it in place of sour cream on a baked potato, otherwise I don’t know much about it except eating the flavored kind from the store. 😂 I’ve put away my fair share and that’s the truth! For nearly 2 years I could only eat yogurt, cottage cheese, salad and a few other things that my upper gastrointestinal system would permit. Question: Is there anything you can’t do? You put me to shame! 😜 Your kids are so sweet. And good looking. Rebeckah just makes me want to hold her in a rocker or a porch swing and sing to her or tell her stories. Kids are the best. Was thinking about Sarah wanting 12 kids. I know she has seen the birthing process from living on a farm and is in no way naive but I couldn’t help but wonder if she would still be saying that after her first delivery. 😂 Of course, God made us women strong and full of maternal yearnings (not everyone) so sweet babies are being born everyday. My niece, Lauren’s friend just had identical twins a few weeks ago. Delivered at full term. Warms my heart every time I see her post a photo on fb. I’m rambling too much. I am a chatterbox but being ill and being alone gets lonesome sometimes. Don’t guess you know much about that, huh? 😂 my love to you all. Glad your kids get to spend time with their grandparents. We spent summers in PA With my Grandma. It was amazing. Bye now…for real. 🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️❤️🥰🥰

Oh Vikki, I always love hearing from you!! I'm hoping Sarah continues to want a large family as I want to have lots of grandbabies! :) I am cherishing these sweet moments with Rebekah because I know I may be getting too old to have an 8th baby. My outlook has certainly changed from my days as a young mother compared to now as an old mother. Sarah, David, and Abigail are now spending their time at Grandma Camp and I know they're having an awesome time. Samuel, Andrew, and Anna returned home happy, but worn out...which I'm pretty sure is the way it's supposed to be when you're staying with Grandma and Papa. :)

Somehow you are never alone on the internet but I empathise with the loneliness while been unwell.I have always had a fear of twins and identical twins still freak me out in my 70’s . My mother almost married an identical twin and funnily I have two friends who are identical twins but I have never see them together. Take care.

I can see the thin line from cream to milk. My husband has a fetish about people washing their hands. When i prepare food, he is constantly asking me if I washed my hands 🤪
I would love to make yogurt one day.
