this is cool because there is no sing along and you hear the band. And yes, they are alive and well and the three singers are still together since 1980........the dude is the only original member since 1977
I remember this song when it first came out...couldn't get enough of it...it was my first 12" extended mix record. This was the first big "techno" hit and it still sounds fresh 26 years later. And yes, Phil Oakey looks great.
it was Martin Rushent RIP (producer dare) that gave human league their' punchy ' sound , martin had all the brand new bits of technology in his 'genetic studio'... like the first linn drum(sample based drum machine), he also used a Roland MC-8 sequencer and jupiter 8 , martin was a perfectionist and a visionary , with phil oakey 's direction and song writing the band made one of the best albums of all time ' DARE ' 1981
No Jupiter 8 was used on Dare. It was a Jupiter 4 mainly, along with a Roland System 700 modular synth and a collection of other synths (Korg Delta, Casio M10 and Casio VL-1), a Roland MCP micro composer and the infamous Linn LM1 drum machine (except on Sound of the Crowd). All the equipment they used is listed on the liner of the actual album! The League didn't use a Jupiter 8 until after Dare, most notably on "Fascination", "Mirror Man" and the full length "Hysteria' album.
Great. My first concert was human league in Belfast, don't you want me was number 1 in the charts, I wore winkle pickers and the ends got flattened! Dare remains one of my favourite albums of all time!
so do the 2Human League girls ie Queens Susan Sulley and Joanne Catherall. 2me the Human League r ACE Ace Ace. I have even got the chance to get to talk to the Human League and even got to give Queen Joanne Catherall a kiss and loads of hand written love letters (by me) and all starting to Queen on them ather chess. little do the Human League girls know it. but apart from being human ofcorse both me and the 2Human League girls have got something in common ie our talent is self taught. 4the Human League girls are self taught singers. and I am a self taught sound affect impressionist. 4 l can copy the sounds of drum kits and trains and even a level crossing. I simply adore the Human League Joanne Catherall Epy. I wish that the Human League were from Portsmouth. then I can see more of them. but still never mind. the Human League r worth the train fares to get to see them alone. I simply adore the Human League
Just came home from a concert with HL. It was just awesome. This clip from last year, can´t be compared with tonights performance. See them if you get the chance. All three members were tuned to the maximum. AWESOME experience...
Fantastic performance! This is such a great version of the song, too. It combines the famous bassline of the original "Don't You Want Me" by Human League with the awesome little synth melody on the Mandy Smith remix, which Stock Aitken Waterman produced.
Saw these in the 90s....they appear to have matured together with their music which was always outstanding.Much better music than todays dross, well played you lot!
On this date in 1982 {Mar. 6th} "Don't You Want Me" entered Billboard's Top 100 chart; on July 3rd it would peaked at #1 {for 3 weeks}and spent 28 weeks in the Top 100... Ranked 6th on Billboard's Year-End Hot 100 Singles of 1982 chart... The group's only record to make Billboard's U.S. chart... Reached #1 in the U.K., Belgium, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, & Norway... Was featured in three movies; "Ocean's Thirteen", "He's Just not That Into You", and "1981"...
what we also must remember is this is not the full orginal line up. the girls were picked from a disco in sheffield after martin ware and ian craig marsh left to form heaven 17. the group was under contract to do a tour and if they pulled the plug on they were going to be sued.
These songs from the past echo forward to reach many. The music now, is just like our culture now; focused on the self and the now. Its music that cannot last, or at least I hope it doesnt. I enjoy songs that speak from the soul, and have nothing to do with superficialities. Music from the 80s and 70s, for example, is ageless.
Magnifique formation incroyablement solidaire. Bravo, we still "want you", Human League ! France
the below two comments scream ageism. Just wait til you hit your 40's and everything starts to sag and then see if you would make these comments again. The Human League are a great group and their Dare album has often been labelled as one of pop music's most influential albums.
WoW! It's great that they are still together. Human League still sound good. The front singer has aged and lost his hair, but still pretty cute. And the girls look great too. Maybe a bit older. Thanks for posting this video Earlhoward! =)~
I went out and proudly paid for The Human League's CD without question..And I have NOT bought a CD in years. Nuthin else has the same ingredients as this. Its FUN and has it ALL that makes a catchy and brilliant tune. I wish I had written this one for sure. No one compares to bands like this. The Idols cant jam worth tha damn, those disney singers are boring, Staind is depressing and hiphop/rap is just Silly now and u cant tell em apart anymore. But rest assure, U know the League when U hear.
Yup the same ones...Susan (was Susanne-the blond) looks superb, Joanne has gained a few pounds but flaunted her stuff in fishnets regardless. They have maintained this set image of them standing each side of Phil (Susan on the left and Phil on the right) for every performance.
I have always loved the Human League and was there when they first came out, nice retro trip for me :-) no tsurprised to see them on US TV as they did have a big following there
Agree the new synth sounds are digital, the original were analog,a lot of these bands now have the old analog stuff loaded into samples. Which are a recording from the original equipment direct onto media and then loaded into the new digital stuff so it sounds authentic like it did. The band Kraftwerk is famous for this. These guys always sing live too which is awesome, they make a point of it,no auto tune,no digital alterations just them!
Yeah they do sound just like they did in 1983. I think this song is featured on a Chips Ahoy commercial now. It's weird to see the lead singer without makeup or hair as I've seen in everything else they've done.
Human League 🇬🇧,, Originated , Sheffield, England 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Every time that I listen this song, It like more. Greetings from Perú.
One of the greatest little pop songs ever penned. Simple, groovy, a storyline and captures an exciting time in music. Perfect.
I never get tired of this song☺️
Moi non plus.
God Phil looks good at 58 and the girls early 50s look at the smiles on the faces of the audience
this is cool because there is no sing along and you hear the band. And yes, they are alive and well and the three singers are still together since 1980........the dude is the only original member since 1977
This song is 28 years old and people still love it...he can still sing!!! That's what I call a career.
80's music is the best! They've still got it after almost 30 years.
I'm agreeeeeee💚❤️🇮🇹
Damn, he looks and sounds great! Time is definitely on his side.
As a rock fan, I can still safely say the music from the 80's was excellent.
I miss 80's.
It's 2022 and Phil STILL hasn't lost his voice! Sounds just as good as he does here. ❤️❤️❤️
One of the greatest British bands of the 80s
I never get sick of watching this clip...and it's from 25 years after the song came out! Still brilliant!
I never watched Jimmy Kimmel but just having Human League on this show puts him on the cool list. I need to check out his show more often.
I remember this song when it first came out...couldn't get enough of it...it was my first 12" extended mix record. This was the first big "techno" hit and it still sounds fresh 26 years later. And yes, Phil Oakey looks great.
Damn your comment was 14 years ago, crazy how time fly's I was a big league fan too, seen them 4 times over the years. Cheers
My favorite song of all times!! They still rock after all these years ;)
One of the best synthpop bands of all time. Definitely on my Top 5 list.
the orig is still up to date 30 yrs later...its a timeless masterpiece
More than 20 years after, they are still cool. Great music, Human League!
That chorus hook is gigantic...everyone can sing it on the dance floor.
Phil's voice is fantastic!
The Anthem of Montego Bay, Belmar, N.J.
Just another in an endless line of great songs from the 80's...
They still look and sound great, particularly Oakey.
They are still wonderful.
They sound great, love the Blondie, she’s gorgeous
Yes this music is from "the 80's"! It was my best time in music and clubs for me. Joanne has aged very well and still looks good.
OMG ,the time really passed by them, but i think he still keeps his voice.I still love them
Damn, they still sound great. It's good to know they are still performing. Thanks for posting this.
Thank you. Plus I like the how her voice sounds raspy yet mellow at the same time.
really good song from the 80's!! and frome the UK
Love the looks on the faces ,great memories
Much respect to the keytar player providing the iconic notes.
Love this band even back when they first came out in the 80's still sound great!
Philip Oakey looks really bad ass now, who would have thought he would look like this from where he came from in the 80's
it was Martin Rushent RIP (producer dare) that gave human league their' punchy ' sound , martin had all the brand new bits of technology in his 'genetic studio'... like the first linn drum(sample based drum machine), he also used a Roland MC-8 sequencer and jupiter 8 , martin was a perfectionist and a visionary , with phil oakey 's direction and song writing the band made one of the best albums of all time ' DARE ' 1981

Phil's voice is still fantastic, can't say that for Suzanne or Joanne. Still, I'd pay to see them and Heaven 17!
Great. My first concert was human league in Belfast, don't you want me was number 1 in the charts, I wore winkle pickers and the ends got flattened! Dare remains one of my favourite albums of all time!
Dare is perfect.

The Ladies still look absolutey fantastic real beauties!! xx
This is one of the best songs of all time so all you haters stop hating. More than a song this is
That was very good considering their hit was originally on the charts in 1981.

Yeah they do sound just like they did in 1983. I think this song is featured on a Chips Ahoy commercial now. It's weird to see the lead singer without makeup or hair as I've seen in everything else they've done.
Phil, Susan and Joanne still look very cool.
I love THL
Awesome, They are still alive~♡
Philip is always so, so good looking❤ and how about his voice? ❤️❤️❤️
