I’m at my internship pretending I’m working right now, perfect timing Sir. I’m taking notes and my expression is serious AF, they gotta think this video is an explanation of FMEA.
Gotchu bud Also called: potential failure modes and effects analysis; failure modes, effects and criticality analysis (FMECA) Begun in the 1940s by the U.S. military, failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA) is a step-by-step approach for identifying all possible failures in a design, a manufacturing or assembly process, or a product or service. It is a common process analysis tool. "Failure modes" means the ways, or modes, in which something might fail. Failures are any errors or defects, especially ones that affect the customer, and can be potential or actual. "Effects analysis" refers to studying the consequences of those failures. Failures are prioritized according to how serious their consequences are, how frequently they occur, and how easily they can be detected. The purpose of the FMEA is to take actions to eliminate or reduce failures, starting with the highest-priority ones. Failure modes and effects analysis also documents current knowledge and actions about the risks of failures, for use in continuous improvement. FMEA is used during design to prevent failures. Later it’s used for control, before and during ongoing operation of the process. Ideally, FMEA begins during the earliest conceptual stages of design and continues throughout the life of the product or service.
The whole Disney situation genuinely makes me lose my mind. I can't imagine my s/o dying because of some lazy restaurant owner and not being able to sue the responsible party because i signed up to a streaming app ages ago because i wanted to watch Cinderella. That's wild.
I had 0 reading comprehension in high school, then went to university at 23 and studied law/sociology/social sciences and criminology, where I learnt those skills. Surveillance capitalism was one of my assigned readings. You get a lot more context in those classroom environments and supplemental texts that help you make sense of the primary text.
For example, I remember that Shoshanna Zubof's work used theories of panopticism. By then I had already studied Foucault and the Panopticon, read Discipline and Punish and written essays on those topics. Without that background knowledge, making sense of her arguments would have been much harder. I could not read at the level I can now if I hadn't started with introductory sociological texts. Those texts will introduce major thinkers and theories in a much more digestible fashion. I've come across a lot of people in academia who are relatively well-versed in theorists like Foucault, without ever having actually read his books cover to cover, just by working with supplementary texts. Also, in that unit we read Algorithms of Oppression, which I recommend.
noel is very intelligent. even when he’s explaining technology and data, he explains it so well that even I, a person that doesn’t know much about what goes on behind the scenes of the internet, understands what he’s putting down. very well done 👏🏻👏🏻
True!! I noticed that too! I know it may sound out of the blue but he can pull off being a teacher, he has compassion and very self aware and delivers information so easily
Love listening to Noel just kinda go off for an hour, but damn does it fill me with a distant anxiety to hear about a bunch of bad things happening in current society
so many people have learning disabilities but they are still able to be smart and successful. like look at where you are now. you made it. dont worry youll b ok
The thing about companies not moderating is that if they become aware of something illegal happening, they're now liable if they don't do anything about it. If they do something about it they're okay, but if you never moderate you're never aware so no need to take action. Seems silly but that's how its established in court precedent
oh god the bit about the reading comprehension part hit so hard. Especially when there's a sense of loss while looking back, not taking the opportunity to read better body of literature because the text feels like its not on the same level as your reading comprehension. Eventually I learned that you have to actively work on it, even if it feels like it takes so much of your brain power. It's just like exercise, takes a while to get used to.
Im not trying to be cheesy here but seriously what a phoenix from the ashes moment noel is having lately. Just incredible work on this and the tmg channel too
i was a great “popcorn” reader in school so i always got picked to read these long passages….never once retained any of the information i was reading out loud to the class ☠️
I have literally not remembered anything that I’ve ever read. In fact I have had a self awakening moment when I haven’t been actually understanding what I’m reading during a book.
I could read as a kid, but once I was a teenager- young adult I stopped being able to read, could not process nor remember anything. Turns out it was ADHD 💀 and once I became adult, it went from hyperactive to inattention. I got on meds for about a year and I've been able to read ever after lol that was 4 years ago
First of all, Noel. I suck ass at reading and literally will read through a whole chapter of a book while picturing the scenario In my head and then turn the page to the next chapter and have no clue what I’ve just read smh.. also the hackers don’t do it for the money they do it to show us how much of a scam our “protective” services are who own all of our info.
42:41 i've had to use an epipen before and noel's right lol you gotta slam that shit in your leg lol. like the needle on those things go deep as fuck but you don't even feel it go in bc you just punched the shit out of your thigh
The price makes sense, its not the people stealing its specialty to utilize the data, its the people who buy it who know how to turn it into money, a high price is whats fishy, because they could use the data themselves, pawning it off is the lazy approach to make a quick buck.
now that u can read a decent book to check out where there is some interesting words & interesting dialogue is called Stars In My Pocket Like Grains Of sand by Samuel R. Delany. I am also glad I am here for brain rot, as for speedrunning society I think Ai or SI is gunna show us up
i am a 20 year old female and i can’t read. i have to focus so hard on trying to read the word correctly i cannot actually process the whole sentence and information. i was also diagnosed with adhd and dyslexia in 2nd grade. hope this helps noel, you just have learning disabilities!!
I understand the no reading comprehension thing. I be never struggled to READ the words, but my god I’d read a page and couldn’t tell you a single thing that just happened. I blame ADD and that I’m not even diagnosed with, I’m just stupid man
