Shang Tsung became my favorite villain since mk 11 aftermath. And overall very great character. Amazing combos into brutality bro!!!! This is so entertaining. Can't wait to see more of your shang gameplay waz. This game is insane 😎
I think his kit overall is simple, but I agree with the statement you need to be somewhat proficient with EVERYONES kit to make him 100%. But his core gameplay and lot seem simple enough all things considered when comparing to others.
@@SilentMeDude u really don't like you can play the character and never morph into the opponent especially with kameos and since the kombos are so much better than mk11 u really not missing out on anything as a matter of fact I would say you're better off just mastering his combos and learn how and when to morph back and forth between young and old then trying to learn him and the entire cast because really you're just making it harder on yourself

You probably already know this but Shang can combo off his ex stab switch with Sector its pretty sick you bring Sector in off the ground skull doing his neutral support then do back triangle twice into the ex stab its pretty sweet and guarantees a follow up attack

Am I the only one who misses Shang Tsung's "your soul is mine"? He has no soul magic in this game despite having it in the cinematic trailer for MK1. It just doesn't really feel like you're playing Shang Tsung.
I found tech for shang, you can do a ground fireball "from young form" if you input "stance change" at the same time as the "1" input while in old form. Example: Shang is in Young Form Scorpion Jumps in Counter with standing 4 input down, forward , 1+"stance change" middle ground fireball comes out normal combo, no awkward inputs mid combo no need for "set up" kameo calls, can save your bar for more ice armor/ bigger combos off easy confirms wanted to keep this one for myself but I like your videos so pop off king. you can do this during any string when you would normally input a special you can also do this mid air for a fireball mix up the true sauce tho is hit confirming forward 4 from young form into the old form combo can also be used to make old form forward 4 combo lead into spike pits. Hey man dunno if u will see this, but do you play with release check on or off? I recently started to play shang tsung and play with release check off. For some reason I always drop the combos when i switch forms! Then I tried it with release check on and It works perfectly! Dunno if this is just a skill or timing issue
Im seriously trying to learn so many characters in this game cause they're all so cool, so watching someone as good as Papa Waz play them is super helpful and entertaining
Besides them lying about him being a preorder exclusive, and costing 8 bucks alone for a main character in a game with an already small roster, I absolutely love the way he plays
Waz as a fellow Shang player nice job man, but a small piece of advice if I may? Shang has a 39% meterless BnB with no cameo involved. Incase you weren't aware because there were spots you could've done this for more damage. Go watch Foxy Grampa and his Shang to see it.
My only complaint with shang tsung is he only has one overhead and its only in young form as forward 3. No overheads in strings non in old form. Considering everyone else has more than one overhead its a bit sad. But he makes up for it with zoning and pressure mixups by swapping forms mid combos. But the single overhead is a bit sad. Means u gotta grab more as him but it can get a bit predictable
His combos are super long. I've got one that is like 40-50 seconds long. Also got a TOD. Both of these are on ny channel btw He's crazy in this one. Super fun too

Shang Tsung is my favorite character in MK too But... ST from MK11 and an old movie is much, MUCH better... Feel like 2 different character + for me his combos doesn't look fun anymore... Thankfully, Reptile looks really fun to play, but I can't play online... Thanks for video btw

Not only needing to learn two base stances, but to really optimize needing to learn every other character is an insane challenge.
Its great for people that want to learn as many characters as possible.
