Thank you for sharing this! It seems so accurate! I could play a Case of You but struggled with figuring out the other dulcimer based songs. This is so helpful!
Long ago, I figured out the tuning for A Case of You by ear, but even after decades I couldn't identify the tunings for Carey and California. Thanks so much for sharing how to play these favorite tunes.
Very interesting. Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts on this. A Case of You is one of my all time favs, but Joni does so much extra with her voice that I hadn't really devoted much time to it on dulcimer. I'm going to have to revisit it now...even if it's just to play along with her track like you did here. Appreciate your insight, as always!
@@stephenseifert It's always good to see you, Steve. I just checked the liner notes to Blue and James Taylor is listed as playing guitar on "California," "All I Want," and "A Case of You." Stephen Stills plays on "Carey."
Great post with alternative tunings for some incredible tones.
Stephen, omgosh! Thanks! This is amazing - I love the Blue album and I've always figured I could never play her stuff - you make it very approachable!
Brilliant tutorial, brilliant camera angle. Thanks friend.

Loved the lesson, breaking it down slowly, and speaking out the finger placement is very helpful.
Damn, this rocks. Exactly what I've been looking for. Thanks a million.
I love the way you play Steve and the way your hands are so fluent on the dulcimer
I am going to have to take some time and play with this. Thank you so much
Very cool. Thanks for sharing this. By the way, I think the guitar doing "all kinds of cool stuff" was James Taylor.
I believe he said so on "TV" recently. Good to see you, here!
