By now, Paul has probably accepted the pit incident was his own fault. He waited to the last second to ask his chief if he should pit. He guessed and gambled, and lost. The chief hesitated for just 1 second because he wasn't expecting the question. Too late, Paul had already committed to pit.
*The crew is NOT to blame here!*. Di Resta dropped in uninvited so they weren't ready for him. In fact, they did great considering they had to spring into action instantly.
