I do understand that discipline is better than motivation but the thing about taking short breaks on being saturated is not working with me as I cannot stop and it wastes time. Can you please suggest any other method to deal with saturation.
Omg! I was just reading Atomic Habits and decided to actually start revising for pre boards and when I opened yt I'm seeing this...maybe its a sign from the nature telling me to study
Hey I just read a post on quora about heartbreaking death of doctor Anurag Kumar by suicide. I just came to know that doctors face more depression, so please take care of yourself and we can even talk if you feel misunderstood and more. Take care of yourself
Dr. Aditya I have been feeling the lack of motivation and eagerness to become a docter since a month. I have faced a lot of health issues during this month which actually hampered my routine for studies . Moreover before these health issues started I was getting very bad scores in MCQ practice tests which started making me feel stressed. I did a lot of practice in December for this upcoming big test but I still scored very less and now it has become casual for me to score very less in my tests. These all things are actually making me feel broken from inside. My productivity which was very good as a class 11 student has now decreased to a very low level. Sometimes I feel like it will pay me back during my final NEET exams. I don't know how to regain that energy in myself of intolerance for my bad scores which I used to have earlier. Now when I score bad I feel like it's casual. Please suggest me how would I become active again after this much long brake with such mental stress. Please sir , even when I am sharing this with you then as well I am not getting how to express. Please help me sir. Ishika Chaudhary Class 11
Hey first of all I appreciate you because you took the first step that is helping yourself and expressing yourself. Second what you are feeling is completely normal with aspirants. You know dont think about the time which has gone because you have a whole year ahead of you to get back to your pace and get selected...for now you are at your lowest point that means from now on you will be going up only and accept it that what you are doing take guts and its okay to feel drained. Now make a time table for yourself and start it for a week ...wake up daily early morning and make a to do list and write them and at the end of the day tick everything that you have completed this will keep you discplined. Also when you wakeup..go for a 5 mins walk in nature..trust me it does wonder for your mental health...and take out 10mins a day for affirmations and meditation in which you just have to close your eyes and sit focusing on your breath...do this for a week and you will yourself feel the changes...all the best aspirant ❤
**Long Answer** I honestly feel like I'm reading a page from my diary of 12th Std all over again after reading your comment. I am a 2nd year Medical Student, and I faced the exact same situation like you are facing now. I had Typhoid for 25 days before mid exam, and after that it was only a downhill road for my marks, mental health and just everything around me. I found myself being OK with my low/mediocre performance, which didn't used to be the case earlier. The journey to get back to my old self was really long and challenging. The few things that helped me were- I found support in a teacher (Subject-Chemistry) in my class who understood my problem, and was ready to work with me to work hard and have the finest knowledge of Chemistry for 12th Std.- Mind You, not the highest marks-- Finest knowledge. I had lost all my friends because I was scoring very low, and all my teachers used to target me- Amidst all this chaos, my parents were my only support system. 1. Try finding a teacher, preferably someone who can teach or monitor your progress outside the class too. If your parents are as involved in your academics, like mine, then ask them to meet with your teacher, As they know what you have been going thru. **The Main Point over here is to establish that everything comes down to one thing, Strong Basics, the core of everything. You can't score well without that, nor can you learn any skill without it. Pick any one subject, my case it was Chemistry, Any 1 subject you like or find slightly easy/doable. Focus on strengthening your basics of this one subject. (While still trying with other subjects) 2. Find someone you can talk out your problems to, Make sure that this person is of the similar mindset as you (I had my dad who would listen to me even at 4 Am in the night) 3. Remind yourself each and every single day- THE BIGGER GOAL IS TO BE A DOCTOR - This entire phase will pass away and when you look back to today some 7-8 years from now, all you will recall is the kind of hard work you put to get where you are. 4. I am completely aware of how painstakingly long this entire process is. It takes enormous amounts of will power, hard work and dedication to overcome the state you are in right now, and also I was at in at one point. But remember- ITS NOT THE MARKS THAT MATTER RIGHT NOW. Once you have become OK with your low marks that means you dont have motivation to try to bring it up. So do not set your goal in terms of increasing your marks. FOCUS ON GETTING YOUR BASICS STRONG. Here, your basics are the knowledge of Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Bcoz previously, you were scoring well coz you understood your concepts well. So you should have the hunger to get them straight once again. Marks uska end product hai. Its very easy to say this, but the motivation linked to marks is gone for the moment. So This is what I did. 5. I had asked my Chemistry teacher to keep small tests of one chapter each on some days. And I used to study Hard for that test and give it. Sometimes I would score well, sometimes I wouldn't. But I practiced for every test she kept. At the end I would say. Express your feeling in front of the mirror each day while brushing/doing chores. Even cry for a little while if that helps you. But at the end of that little "me" session- LOOK INTO YOUR OWN EYES IN THE MIRROR, & VERBALISE WITH STRONG VOICE- "(MINAKSHI CHAUDHARY IS BETTER THAN THIS. I AM BETTER THAN THIS! I AM GOING TO GET BACK WITH A BANG" I know this sounds probably cliche'd and weird to do.This is to bring about minute changes in your behaviour. Coz idk about you but, I started seeing & treating myself as a Loser/Some random mediocre person. But looking at yourself in the mirror and talking to yourself used to just give me a slight reminder of who I truly am. And that this one low phase doesn't define me or my worth. My strength lies in my hard work, If my marks aren't working out, I know that one thing- Hard work has always worked, that is the only thing I know to do best. Trust me, when you start doing this everyday, you will notice slow behavioral changes= Its very important to keep a track of how you treat yourself if this phase. If you treat yourself like a loser, Then it will reflect upon everything you do. Instead- Treat yourself like that one horse who hustling to come up, to be better that himself. NOT LOSER, BUT A HUSTLER. I have complete faith in you, that you can come out as the better version of you from this phase, because you see this as a major issue and are ready to address it. Only a hard working, and ambitious person can address this as an issue. I used to want to get back to my old self at that time, only to realise now that, you never get back to old self- that person didn't know how to deal with failure. But this new improved person who has come out this low phase, is a HUSTLER= A person who knows what falling down is, and more importantly knows HOW TO GET BACK UP. That Future you will have immense respect and appreciation of your struggles of today. I wish you all the will power in the world. You will emerge victorious and How!! Love and light to you PS- Sorry for the extra long answer, but I couldn't stop myself from writing this answer as I too had the exact replica of this experience. Hope my answer made some impact on you.
