  • We use a New Holland 1069 Balewagon or "Stack Cruiser" to stack all our little squares. Before we went to round bales 10+ years ago we put up over 20,000 little squares a year. It takes about 10-15 minutes to pick up and stack 169 bales.

Did you cover the sacks afterwards to keep the rain and snow off of them?

We usually don't cover the stacks. Most of our hay is cow hay and we dont get much moisture (12" a year). Some of the top bales might get a little moldy by spring.

The way they are picked up and stacked tight it keeps the weather out. We broke many a stack of the small bales to reload onto transports and they were nice and green inside, just the outsides were bleached.
