I waited on Jerry Stiller in 1987. I was 23 yrs old and not very good at my job, but he was very kind. the next night I was out to dinner with my bf and we were seated next to him. he was having a business dinner or something, but leaned over and said “remember me?” and we all had such a nice conversation. this was pre-Seinfeld, but I knew him from his comedy act with his wife. such a kind, kind man.
My grandmother passed away 3 years ago and in her final years we would watch The King of Queens all the time. I know exactly what Ben means about this being a weird time for him. I lost my parents within 5 months of each other in late 05/early 06. When they go, it's very sobering to feel so incredibly bereft and alone and weird to be without them. There's no generation ahead of one anymore, and it's so sad and, well, weird. When one is close to parents, the loss is staggering. He has my deepest sympathy, and I hope being able to watch their performances from countless TV shows over the years brings him and his family comfort.

The stolen bike story really speaks to what kind of person Jerry was. First, he was willing to run for blocks to chase someone and try and get his son's bike back. Then when he realized the situation of the kid who stole the bike, he let him keep it because he figured he needed it more than Ben did.

What a legend. Jerry was amazing. If we had a world full of Jerry Stillers the world would be full of love and laughter.
Love that he let the kid keep the bike because he needed more. That says everything about him
The apple didn’t fall far from the tree. A true gentleman like his legendary Dad.
Your Mom and Dad are the Best your so blessed to have come into this world through them.
That bike story, tears of joy. What a special man, RIP and condolences to his family...
The world has lost a great actor who has delighted millions of people around the world. R.I.P. Jerry, we will miss you 😢
He sounds like an amazing guy and father.
Loved Jerry in King of Queens cracked me up every time will be missed R.I.P
Thanks for coming on and sharing nice memories about your dad Ben.
Dear Ben, your father and your mother were the greatest, they brought so much laughter and joy to so many people.Thank you
I know Seinfeld was known for it's memorable supporting characters, but I still can't believe Jerry Stiller was only in about 26 of them! I can't imagine the show without him
Both of his parents were icons...so funny. I also came from loving parents and after the second one passes, you feel so alone, like an orphan. Ben's parents made us all a little happier. I hope the memories of his parents gives him peace and many laughs. Time has a way of bringing those memories back which makes us all feel closer to those that are no longer here.
To see Ben Stiller with grey hair tells me how long his father got to watch him grow. Jerry Stiller lived a long life and got to see his children grow old. Thats beautiful. RIP Jerry Stiller. We love you.
This was so heartwarming & hilarious! I love hearing stories of good parenting and people who lead by example. 💕 R.I.P. Jerry Stiller. 💝
Such a sweet family. Hugs to them. Thanks for the laughs, both Mr. Stillers.
Oh, Ben is so sweet to acknowledge the pain of others during this sad time for him and his family!
I remember his parents on television when I was a little girl, and I loved them! My family was quite dysfunctional and scary at times, but the gift of laughter they brought into my life was so special! And to see a happily married couple together was so comforting.
We knew their gifted, public selves; Ben and his family knew personal, private people. I am s happy they were all so blessed by each other,. Peace.
How nice it feels to learn that he was a great guy all around. And that story about the bike...💚 Committed to his family. Committed to his work. Brought laughter and joy to millions of people over many years. R.I.P. Jerry Stiller🙏
Peace to Jerry Stiller and his family. Love the show Jimmy thanks for sharing your gift of talent.
Ben, so beautiful what you and your parents have shared through out your life times. Humor heals and that’s your family’s legacy. God Bless.
Thanks for talking about him, we all loved him. 💗 Sending hugs and condolences to you and your family. 🌷💗
Jerry sounds like not only a dad, but a friend to his children. I loved hearing Ben’s stories. RIP Jerry.
I know you’re happy to be reunited with the love of your life.
I am sorry for your family's loss as well as friends and fans of your dad, Ben. Thank you for sharing.
Good stuff, Jimmy. A nice forum with nothing but love. And Ben! You're a strong, kind son. Thanks for giving us an opportunity to reminisce with glassy eyes and wide smiles.

Love Ben and Jerry ❤️
Let him keep the bike...
The last comment by Ben - wow...That brought tears to my eyes. Blessings to you and your family as you grieve. He was a very funny man, loved by many.
Jerry Stiller made so many of the shows he starred in. Could you imagine how boring king of queens would be without arthur?? Never would have went so long without him ❤️❤️
Nikki P I agree. Huge fan of both Seinfeld and King of Queens, and I think it’s mostly because of Jerry Stiller. Both shows would’ve just been ok without him.
Ben Stiller is just so lovely, intelligent and genuine. One of my all-time favorites, as was his dad.
Ben thanks for sharing your memories I share your loss and your Dad would have been pleased. Hug.
R.I.P. Jerry Stiller he truly was one of a kind & he will missed by millions & millions of his fans, freinds, & family.
I think it’s a beautiful thing that he felt comfortable enough to call his dad under those circumstances. It really says a lot.
Jerry Stiller is resting in peace. He achieved the absolute serenity now.
Ben Stiller is a good guy.
What a talented family!!! They seem like such great people. Love watching all of them on tv. What a blessing to have been able to enjoy their comedy! God bless the Stiller family!
My Heart goes out to you and prayers for your family Ben. Truly thinking of you doing this difficult time. Your Dad was the best, a natural and made me along with millions laugh!😊💞
Ben has never looked better! The graying definitely works for him!! As for his dad- soooo much love for him, a class act and such comedic talent! There will never be another, he will be missed.

Ben Stiller, so touching, so human, a star who knows where he came from.
You could really see the bond between them, that’s so special to not only have a loving father but to have one that’s like your best friend. Loved watching Jerry in Seinfeld and king of queens. He had a long and happy and successful life and that’s a blessing, he can Rest In Peace now
