He has been wrestling his entire life, and I don’t know enough about this person to know if it is the same with him, nor do I know if wrestling is held with the same conviction. On another note, I don’t think it’s always productive to be comparing people to khabib. There’s no need to define a person’s ability by comparing them to some arbitrary upper bound. Better to just recognize good performance and commend on that basis in most cases I think.

I had the same problem at a 2 day tournament. First day I was eating bananas only that day for some reason and beat both guys, then next day I had diarrhea so bad I ended up losing the both my other 2 matches and I even had to wrestle one of the guys from the day before who I beat. tl;dr

I’m 23 and want to get into BJJ to fill the competitive void collage football left me with. But then I see videos like this and see there’s hot enough time for me to ever reach a high level and compete with guys like this.
These guys look in their 30’s man. They probably started later than you. You can get to their level in 5 years EASILY if you put in the work. Don’t let your mind discourage you before you even start. Trust me when I say that you have no way of knowing your potential

I want to illustrate the following comments further in stating that I have been into MMA/grappling in general from 2009 to present. That is the smoothest, quickest, most methodical, calculated, effortless, controlled, and purely unadulterated ass fucking I have ever seen. No disrespect intended to his opponent in any possible when I say that. It literally is just that, oh my god. I have literally never seen anything like that before ever. From anyone. If I watch any match, I can recall the best example I've ever seen of a particular situation/move. I really can't think a single better example to pull up than this in any situation covered. That was so smooth it's unbelievable. The only image that comes to mind is someone being in complete control and 5 steps ahead of a boa constrictor with a vipers reflexes, and suddenly their neck is the size of a No. 2 wondering how it ended like this.
Well yeah, there's no way to be great if don't have good wrestling fundamentals. BJJ is happy to co-opt techniques from every style and call it their own but wrestling will always still be there.

Furthermore, in the times of professional catch wrestling, there were wrestlers who just shot lazy singles or doubles just so they could get to the ground and work the pin or submission. Pulling guard or going to your butt is just that, but for the modern grappler. All grappling, in one way or another, involves wrestling.

he should’ve Granby instead of leaning backwards which made it easier for the guy to take his back, once the back taken the first thing to do is control the chocking hand, then fight the hooks with your feet and a hand if you feel comfortable without leaving your neck free for the choke, many mistakes noticed but these are the most obvious, anyway this experience will make him better for sure.
That my friends is good old wrestler moves beating down the bjj moves. The guy lost purely due to no answer to all the takedown attempts. The wrestler with classic explosiveness and position over submission mentality wins.
Two people one with more athletic abilities the other is a little less makes huge difference. Less technique but with more speed and quality and all the belt rating goes out through the window at competition. Belts are to reflect progression of learning only.
He was probably going for a foot lock. Sometimes you can cross their feet for them and then lock the foot with your leg and lean back. its why you dont cross your feet when you have back. Ive caught people like this at my gym. Who knows though. They purple belt was good.
I think wrestling the most usefull defense art in real life , you can pindown a threat and avoid getting hurt if you know the technique but ofcourse its not for everyone .
Didnt seem odd to me as they always do in Judo competition....i guess just cuz of the size and exposure of this particular tournament the organizers thought it'd bring some class to the violence?
