It was 1984. He left between the 9th and 10th seasons. As did Eddie. He didn't want to do it without Eddie. And while Eddie technically was a cast member in 83-84, they filmed a show before the season started consisting of solely Eddie sketches and interspersed throughout the season. He was almost never present, and Joe lost his heart in the performances and bailed before the All Star Season of 84-85. A shame, honestly. But I understand at the time.

What's most impressive about this impression is that Joe did this in 1982 when Dave wasn't a huge star yet and there wasn't a lot of appearances to come up with to an impression of Dave. Norm and others did their impressions in the 90s when Dave was one of the biggest stars on TV and had a lot of material to work with.

He did sort of do Dave as a cross between Dave and 'planet of the apes', which was odd. Physically, he wasn't that dissimilar from will ferrell, who is far more popular (but there are still some that don't like Ferrell). I don't think either of them were ever really stand-up comedian types. Will is a bit more low-key in his behavior, whereas Joe (I think genuinely) was constantly giggling, almost 'trying too hard'. So I think a more low-key, deadpan type persona would have worked better for Joe.

I NEVER understood Joe Piscopo at SNL... EVER! NEver found this guy funny. Only feeling fake. That guy just standing beside Norm Macdonald would look like a a greasy car salesman... What can I say Hindsight, I still don't lol

Joe Piscopo is what it’s like for a man sitting through Amy Schumer’s standup.

Joe is so unfunny it's hard to watch .there's a reason he wasn't been seen or heard from in about 30 years or so .

In hindsight should've had the insight to predict: today he hosts a conservative radio talk show in NYC, campaigned for Trump in 2016.

Poor Joe the most muscular and well conditioned comedian alive. Is Joe still alive? Or is it just his career that died?

@@ImSonnyBurnett Poor little baby Sonny. Does your mommy know you're playing on her computer? Don't cry. She'll be home soon to change your diaper. She's going to be really mad when she finds you're still eating out of the cat litter box.

No. Other than Eddie, no one was consistently good during the years of 1980-1984. Piscopo had his moments. Tim Kazurinsky was undervalued and Julia Louis Dreyfus had some good moments.
