Recap from my discord discussion with MMBN friends:
    rebyc 9:08 PM
doesn't take 2x from break element chips, he's considered null like judgeman
there goes my back to back full synchro golemhit3 kill idea
    ***
    rebyc 12:32 AM
    5.21 on protoman, i'm so close =_=
i should just use this strat for someone like judgeman cause protoman's so tanky
    ***
    rebyc 1:29 AM
AHHH I DID IT I GOT IT
    ***
    rebyc 1:41 AM
i thought of this combo precisely because i thought he was sword element
    he's null element
    ***
    rebyc 1:48 AM
protoman isn't naturally weak to break element so i had to put it in a ton of elbow grease and make him weak to break element lol

    FINALLY, I'VE DONE IT. I GOT THE SUB 5! ._. !
    Now, a question:
To my more astute viewers, can you guys see why _this_ instance was a sub5 attempt but in the previous video [link below], they went over 5s?

Was it the Ice Seed triggering Protoman's instead of having to manually trigger it?

@@Random00ish That was my first thought as well, but I think the difference might be negligible because in the prior attempts I can act after the seed's thrown.

@@rebycVG”negligible” but bear in mind the reported difference is 0.17s or 0.23s, only ~4% of 5s and faster than a blink. It's still not likely to be random because the previous video repeatedly hit 2 lower limits at >5s with the same strat. GBA runs ~60Hz, so those are 11 or 14 frames. In this 720p60fps video, I counted 16 frames between the iceseed triggering the protoshield and Megaman raising his buster, enough to explain the saved frames.

Dang, that was really slick. Good job!
I assume ProtoMan isn't Sword element because he's probably the type of character that would eliminate his own weaknesses. That and I imagine the important characters like Colonel and Bass were made to be neutral so you had to fight them "fairly".

Yeah, I get the logic but I'll always be bitter that my back to back GolemHit idea never carried through, lol. There's always Slashman I guess... >_>

    • @MechanicalRabbits

I imagine Protoman being a null element navi like Megaman that trained and specialized heavily on sword chips rather than a navi programmed with the sword element in mind. Being as fast as he is, sword chips probably came in natural for him.
edit: I kept thinking further about it, how Protoman's main quirk is an incredibly high speed and reaction time, and realized he's a massive Char from Gundam reference. Char's mobile suit is red, with a curved spike in the head just like Protoman's, his main thing is being way faster and accurate than any other pilot, and instantly develops a rivalry with the protagonist, seeing him as the only pilot with the potential to eventually fight him toe to toe.

@@MechanicalRabbits Well then they shouldn't have made ProtoSoul Sword Element like how SlashCross was Sword Element, lol. Cowards, I say!

Nice work getting the sub-5 under these restrictions. Here are my thoughts on the time difference. In the previous video, you move twice before throwing VDoll because ProtoMan gets trapped in the bubble in the front column instead of the middle. Here, IceSeed lands directly on him, prompting a faster shield response while also letting you move only once before using V-Doll. Moving forward while using PanelGrab doesn't incur a time loss since VDoll has to first travel through the air and land before you can use GolemHit to nuke ProtoMan.
My question is, did you subject yourself to the RNG of waiting for an attempt where IceSeed lands on ProtoMan or was there some kind of manipulation involved?

    • @rebycVG
      @rebycVG  4 месяца назад +2

Yeah! I think you hit the nail on the head. In this attempt I didn't need to step back and then re-step forward, saving me one net step overall. There's about 17cs difference between my best time and here. 1/60 fps is ~17 ms. I reckon that one step difference saved me the 10 frames or so I needed to secure the sub5?
And as you said his column placement made all the difference.
RNG manipulation for the starting hand but at this point I wasn't skilled enough to control the encounter choreo itself yet. Iceseed here was pure luck. But I've since practiced that skill for the current BN2 vids I'm recording, lol.
