Guys stop criticizing them. It's just a preliminary video for understanding. It's just the fundamentals. So it's really necessary to understand the fundamentals. This is by far the best video that represents what actually the electricity is. Yeah they are using conventional current.... So what?! Afterall everything that we are fond of considered as positive. And the particle the was actually thought of giving this so called property was named as positive and later only they discovered, it was actually the property of another particle. In fact, on that regard I haven't considered a model like this and I feel now I can finally start to understand the formulas and use them correctly. Do you remember how Cathodes and Anodes work from Chemistry/Physics? Batteries can get fully discharged, but while they still have charge, the anode gets more and more depleted.

Naveed, I make my 3D animations with the program "Poser." Poser is expensive, but there are also free 3D animation programs available such as "Blender" and "Daz Studio."
Keep in mind. Their example makes it appear as if a "wire" is coming from the battery terminal. But a real wire has both a "hot" and "neutral" line built into it. Therefore, if you wire lights with a hot and neutral wire in and a hot and neutral wire out, you are wiring the lights "in parallel" even though it seems as if there is one "wire" going to each light in series.

rewatching this i think it is because the filament of the lightbulb is broken. This means that part of the wire is broken and it is physically impossible for the charges to move through the filament of that lightbulb.
I was confuse on how Kirchhoff's law explained by our instructor-- maybe she was considering the solving part but this visual really makes sense to me now. Keep up the good work!

So at some point if you have too many light bulbs the battery would deplete super fast. But my question is, is there a limit on the amount of current a battery can give? Let's say you hooked up a ton of light bulbs to the one battery, would the battery eject all it's power at once?
Can someone please explain to me why the charge that are at the same potential are moving? since there should be no electric field if the wire is equipotential and the charges shouldn't move. I don't know which part I understand it incorrectly
This is so cool. After years I finally found logical (for me) interpretation. I felt so dumb during my studies not to comprehend this problem. My classmates always told me to try to connect some circuits to get it. But I always wanted an explanation which will satisfy my imagination. according to law, current entering=current exiting. in a series circuit of 3 light bulbs at 8:55, how come the first light bulb (that receives current first) doesn't get full voltage of the battery since the current entering that light bulb is coming directly from the battery? or was it founded to be as a self regulating phenomena that the current divides evenly when entering and exiting each light bulb in a series circuit?
Tl;Dr: If the voltage was not balanced, then the current will flow and ebb until the current is equal through all the parts of the circuit. As mentioned, when two parts of a circuit is connected, they will try to equalize their voltages by allowing current to flow. Now, if the first bulb took all the energy and lower the voltage to zero, then the voltage drop across the other two will be zero, which means no current. However, the first bulb has a large voltage drop, so current flows through, and it needs to flow somewhere, ideally to the negative end of the battery. This raises the voltage down the first bulb because it gains potential energy from the current flowing through the first bulb. This voltage, although reduced, allows current to pass through the subsequent bulbs. The voltage drop on the bulb can be calculated through the formula V=IR. On a series circuit, it simply states that stronger load/resistance R requires more share of the energy for the same current to flow, thus it has more voltage drop. The balance comes from this 'load-sharing' and the fact that series circuit had an equal current flowing through all its parts.
At 1:12 the current is flowing from positive to negative (conventional flow). When the positive charges complete the circuit they end up at the negative end of the battery. But the positive charges move up through the battery and out the positive end again. Does it really happen like that? I thought the charges would flow from one end of the battery to the other end and and stop at the other end. Isn't there something inside the battery which separates the positive and negative charges?

You are the best. Full disclosure, Kirchoff's voltage law is also not a real law. It's a special case of Faraday's law where the derivative of magnetic flux through a loop is zero.

The current direction is wrong. Electron current goes from the negative pole of a battery to the positive pole. It's electron flow .

3:57 the current takes the leftward path instead of passing through the lightbulb. Is this because the resistivity of the lightbulb material is greater than the wire’s?
rewatching this i think it is because the filament of the lightbulb is broken. This means that part of the wire is broken and it is physically impossible for the charges to move through the filament of that lightbulb.
I really wish someone showed me these visualizations when I started engineering school.
I was confuse on how Kirchhoff's law explained by our instructor-- maybe she was considering the solving part but this visual really makes sense to me now. Keep up the good work!

yes, so lower the resistance that you can consider there's no resistance at all, and so no voltage's difference between entry and exit of the lamp...
Definitely helping me understand more! Still having just a bit of trouble with this, especailly when it came to Kirchoff's Voltage Law. Will give in a rewatch in a little while just to let it sit in my brain, and then hopefully revisiting that will help solidify it more.

So at some point if you have too many light bulbs the battery would deplete super fast. But my question is, is there a limit on the amount of current a battery can give? Let's say you hooked up a ton of light bulbs to the one battery, would the battery eject all it's power at once?
All batteries have some internal resistance, so there is a limit to the maximum current they can produce.

Can someone please explain to me why the charge that are at the same potential are moving? since there should be no electric field if the wire is equipotential and the charges shouldn't move. I don't know which part I understand it incorrectly

This is so cool. After years I finally found logical (for me) interpretation. I felt so dumb during my studies not to comprehend this problem. My classmates always told me to try to connect some circuits to get it. But I always wanted an explanation which will satisfy my imagination. For me, it was a stupid irrational thing which closed the way for me to electrical engineering. :) Thank you very much.

according to law, current entering=current exiting. in a series circuit of 3 light bulbs at 8:55, how come the first light bulb (that receives current first) doesn't get full voltage of the battery since the current entering that light bulb is coming directly from the battery? or was it founded to be as a self regulating phenomena that the current divides evenly when entering and exiting each light bulb in a series circuit?
Tl;Dr: If the voltage was not balanced, then the current will flow and ebb until the current is equal through all the parts of the circuit.
As mentioned, when two parts of a circuit is connected, they will try to equalize their voltages by allowing current to flow.
Now, if the first bulb took all the energy and lower the voltage to zero, then the voltage drop across the other two will be zero, which means no current. However, the first bulb has a large voltage drop, so current flows through, and it needs to flow somewhere, ideally to the negative end of the battery. This raises the voltage down the first bulb because it gains potential energy from the current flowing through the first bulb. This voltage, although reduced, allows current to pass through the subsequent bulbs.
The voltage drop on the bulb can be calculated through the formula V=IR. On a series circuit, it simply states that stronger load/resistance R requires more share of the energy for the same current to flow, thus it has more voltage drop.
The balance comes from this 'load-sharing' and the fact that series circuit had an equal current flowing through all its parts.
At @4:05, lightbulb 2 is only off because of the bypass, right? Without the bypass the bulb would turn on?

At 1:12 the current is flowing from positive to negative (conventional flow). When the positive charges complete the circuit they end up at the negative end of the battery. But the positive charges move up through the battery and out the positive end again. Does it really happen like that? I thought the charges would flow from one end of the battery to the other end and and stop at the other end. Isn't there something inside the battery which separates the positive and negative charges?

You are the best. Full disclosure, Kirchoff's voltage law is also not a real law. It's a special case of Faraday's law where the derivative of magnetic flux through a loop is zero.
