The best developers I know who are working on cutting edge stuff too doesn't really have any social media presence and it's not because they are introverted, some of them are sure, but mostly because they see social media as a waste of time, including RUclips. Having a popular channel is more about on how do you game the algorithm rather than uploading quality content, because unfortunately, quality content alone is not going to cut it anymore.
I totally agree with this, I've seen creators with quality content staying very niche and others ascending to "eCelebrity" screaming and reading blog articles written by others
So many tutorials are so poorly done though. Doing a "cover" but making it more concise, adding more reasoning as to why you've done something, or even just improving the sound/video/editing quality is worth it in my opinion. Not sure I really agree with his 24 hour rule personally as doing your video right so it actually adds value is something that takes time for sure. I just spend about 6 days making my first video and getting it right. It was my first though so maybe it'll get shorter in the future, but 24 hours seems like an arbitrarily short amount of time to me though. Just sleeping and coming back to see what I've done was key to me realizing all the mistakes and cleaning em up.
Great point! I tought about this several times and my main goal was to improve myself and the viewers based on the discussions in the comment section. Sometimes during tech discussions in the office some devs like the ideas I got and some don't, and that makes me think if I'm giving idiot solutions or complicating simple things.
Really interesting. I recently started a channel about web development. At first, it felt a bit stressful, but now it doesn't seem so overwhelming, and I'm seeing growth. By the way, thank you-excellent video. Greetings!
It makes me think more and assure me thinking uploading or sharing more content with people. It's not just making me a better developer, it gives me a good motivation and enable me to enjoy what I'm doing over just a job. Btw, your hand grabbing the mic, somehow, it looks like someone is doing that for you but in a very weird grab position. 😂 Thanks for the video.
Really interesting. I've actually started a little RUclips journey before I focused on coding. I've always thought a bit about sharing my development on RUclips since like everyone I love talking about a topic I really dived into. Plus this can also be a marketing opportunity but perhaps I am still too young. I'd love to do this kind of vlog videos with me just saying what I am doing and which roadblocks I hit and how I overcome them. I'll let this thought grow and perhaps this video is the kick in the ass I needed to start.
Thanks. I have been trying to get ideas for videos. I have a first one done, but I haven't posted it. I will probably put it up in the next day or so. I just need to get more of my current app done, then I can put in some of what I learned into video format. I tried a coding livestream, and it was too stressful. I may do livestreams in the future, but it won't be coding. At least not on the current project. :)
oh i post my progress and my projects as tutorial and as a resume and as a content creator(It is easier for me because i am doing robotics related projects and that might make it easier i guess to standout compared to other subset of programming because it can look clear whats happening). i use mostly a amazon webcam & android phone for videos. and i use kdenlive as a editor (because it was the only one that worked well for me & and it seems for me to make my videos shorter ). and i use text for instructions that seems to me the best for the moment.

Wait, what? Is RUclips broken? I've been getting really useful video recommendations lately. Nice work man. Keep up the good work. Subscribed!
Your focus has to be engagement rather than development or no-one will ever see your videos.
For Real 😅
Gotta be both a developer and an entertainer..
Coz no one likes boring videos 🙄
The hard thing is coming up with original content that isn't just another "cover" of existing tutorials
Although I agree with this, I myself might start just streaming on the project which I might be working on.
