Gary, I had a water softener that had what appeared to be dirt/debris at the top of the riser valve on the upper basket. The system was using well water and I am not sure how if it all that thicker stuff got past the riser tube at the bottom. Have you ever seen that in the past?
Yes, I have seen iron accumulate there and significantly slow down the flow.
Hey gary! Quick question. My softner is a all in 1 brine/media together. I hear it trying to regen but it isnt getting any water flow all of a sudden. Any quick tips to check out?
Either it’s clogged or the valve needs to be rebuilt and is seized. Likely time for a new water softener. We have them here waterestore.com/products/hum-deluxe-water-softener-30-000-grain
I'm looking at your HUM Chemical Free Iron/Sulphur/Manganese FOK Filter 1.0 that states it can remove up to 10ppm of manganese, is this a typo? Similar units from Clack state 1.0ppm.
The Katalox specifications are missleading, see them here waterestore.ca/cdn/shop/files/Katalox_Additional_Info.pdf?v=15976190129187858364 In a perfect world, with no iron or H2S you could get 10 ppm. If you have either of those in addition to the manganese, I would go with 1.0 as the maximum.
Is 1ppm iron but no sulpher enough to reduce the manganese removal down to 1ppm? My water has about 6ppm of manganese.@@GarytheWaterGuy
That is a huge amount of manganese, 100 times the safe level, are you sure it is not 0.06 ppm? Also, removal depenant on your pH, what is yours?
@@GarytheWaterGuy It's 5814 ug/L and the ph is 7.3
pH neesds to be above 8.0 for the Katalox media to be able to remove Manganese.
Post fill models that have a catalytic carbon tank and softener tank on one backwashing valve would be my choice
Post fillyes, but not with the carbon in the same tank, you need a separate tank like with this one waterestore.com/products/hum-auto-back-washable-chloramine-removal-filter-1-5 Different backwash flow rates and limits of tank size requires 2 different tanks.
your links are broken 404 error
Which one? I can't find the broken one.
I have regin my system a few times in the past few weeks and my water is still hard leaving my family skin very dry
Sorry to hear that, I would check out my troubleshooting video here ruclips.net/video/cFy-M6i7_Ms/видео.html
@@GarytheWaterGuy thank you I will
Great!
