Lyrics:
I traveled far and wide through many different times,
What did you see there?
I saw the saints with their toys,
What did you see there?
I saw all knowledge destroyed.
I traveled far and wide through many different times.
I traveled far and wide through prisons of the cross,
What did you see there?
The power and glory of sin,
What did you see there?
The blood of Christ on their skins,
I traveled far and wide through many different times.
I traveled far and wide and unknown martyrs died,
What did you see there?
I saw the one sided trials,
What did you see there?
I saw the tears as they cried,
They had tears in their eyes,
Tears in their eyes,
Tears in their eyes,
Tears in their eye.
PLEASE, don't do videos for Closer. For god's sake, don't do videos for Closer...
Could not agree more mate. Diminishing
Or redo the videos by having the videos tell the story word for word to the lyrics. The best of the reimagined was I remember nothing. Now that’s how bad these are
I can walk around the woods naked if I choose, post it on RUclips and should be able to without judgement.
Should let ai do them. Results will be way better.
Dang, harsh!
I‘m already scared- I wanna see it and absolutely not wanna see it at the same time
It’s like a car crash you can’t look away
can you imagine the music they would have done if Ian was still alive?
Already know🙋🏽♂️
Some candles burn all night, others go off like a roman candle, not lasting long, but oh, so bright!
Give me your clothes, your boots and the keys to your motorcycle
Sees the name of the song is wilderness
Directors: hmm interesting
XDDDD, such a good damn comment, thank you
This is quite possibly my most favorite song ever recorded. Raw, dark, hard-hitting, thought provoking.
Bernards guitar track on this gives me chills every time.
Me too
Shame the video is shite though as they all are. Thank God for the music!
Mind listening to this song is a hidden gem - Faceless Humming by the impures )

Dude took less time writing it than you did that.
Know your place.
This is definitely not the worst, but the fact that the video is physically in the wilderness? I don’t think that’s what Ian Curtis meant with it....
niels koornneef Yeah that’s maybe not what Ian Curtis mean but a video clip doesn’t have to always stick to the word of the song
I agree with you, but it is likely a metaphor which can be open to interpretation.
How the fuck would you know how he felt????
@@greyclouds2069 lol calm, I don't know either, I'm just saying they could've read into the title and lyrics a bit more, it seems to me as if they just took it at face value and went with it. I don't think Ian Curtis meant everything so literally is what I'm trying to say, not that I understand him, no one could ever understand Ian Curtis
It's supposed to be about Macclesfield.
Ian Curtis must be rolling in his grave
I’m fairly certain if he were to meet and know Lynne Ramsay today, the filmmaker of this video, he would be quite fond of this as with the rest of her incredible work. This one stands alone. Much respect to Ian, the other band mates, and Lynne.
@James Agree With You Absolutely.
😃 he had been burnt
This song is about Macclesfield, it's like the director only read the title though..
Honestly just Ian dancing to this song would be great

One of the best tracks on Unknown Pleasures, but the less said about the video the better

Joy Division is life.
Any reason to listen to Ian is enough for me.
Underrated Jam. Easily up there with disorder and shes lost control
Please stop this already.
Stop what?
@@rotekanale8124 basically for the 40th anniversary of UP several reimagined videos were made and all of them were received very mixed
Ian would puke after viewing this nonsense, quit it already.
How do you know how he would've reacted?

All the reimagined videos are bad except INSIGHT.
@@rachelraucherThey didn't delete the video.
You’re right they all bad (except Insight of course) but I feel that some video (like She’s lost control, Wilderness and New Dawn Fades) are interesting (not good but interesting) like the director want to make a good video but it just doesn’t work (New Dawn Fades) or barely work (Wilderness) or even almost good (She’s lost control)
*How many times do we have to teach you this lesson, old man?*
curtis had an advanced vision of the world and nobody knows what he meant in real, but definetely not what is pictured here)))
make it stop .
It's the last one.
Mi favorita del Placeres Desconocidos🤯
no es placeres desconocidos, es placeres sin conocer -
While it's minimal and kinda obvious (wilderness? Let's shoot in the woods), I would say this is still heads and shoulders better than whatever the fuck Days of the Lords was trying to do. Nothing mind-blowing or visually impressive but it works in a sort of hypnotic sense. One of the better ones.

The song is still amazing !
*Equality Theory*
This is the theory that all things even out in various forms of wealth in the human endeavor. If one person acquires wealth at point A, then an equal and opposite wealth happens at point B. If one person collects too much wealth then it must be equalized, sometimes involving death or torture. Inequality is the motion and balance of life. Be warned at financial opportunity. For example, say humanity is really like this mechanical Napoleonic war game only it’s based on various forms of wealth. Wind up soldier A and soldier B moves a square.
Okay it’s actually not that bad.. but just because there’s not a lot going on and it’s kinda boring
Idk I like some of the visuals
*A Thief's Plan*
Tragedy will draw a crowd.
Every man wants a legacy.
Comedy can cancel it out,'
so be aware of that enemy,
Jealousy will guard your clout,
and be aware of the ladies,
but the thief is planning
to clean them out.
He devised it all in the waiting.
-Foul Oleo
A normal lyrics video would have been better
More unwanted crap to put up with, just what isn't wanted.
I'm gona become a 1975 fan now.
Mil likes Joy division 😍
..IAN: what did you see there? Really " the power and glory of sin??!
R.I.P. Ian....maybe you really seen..!!
I don’t mind the video but I think they’ve interpreted the lyrics a little differently to what Ian had in mind. It seems they thought it was about a man from literally thousands of years ago who lived in the wilderness coming to see present day lol
Faster
But
Slower
Amazed at lack of creativeness
One of my favorite songs
Wtf?
this video doesnt do any justice to the song unfortunately.
this is trying too hard. the music has already made images in our minds feels like a movie that isn't trying to get soundtrack points
Seems like a homemade video that everybody can do
worse than homemade

*The Engineering Conspiracy* “At the Blade Table in Candar”
In many ways one’s health, well-being, and even life itself are about tools and tool proficiency, and who better understands tools than the person who makes them, especially in their secret ways? Who better understands the world and the Earth itself? Who better understands the economy and war? Arts and music? Books and writing? Architecture? Of course the artisans keep secrets. Their lives depend on it. This is the reason people worship a God. They believe He has the keys to the Earth and the body and spirit. This is why etiquette books fail. Wealth is merely an abundance of tools and too many tools cause confusion and tiredness. To understand math or language one must make math tools or letters. Try drawing a number line or symbols that represent sounds. Engineering is the true key to Paradise. Only God Himself would understand more , but considering He was a conjecture in the heyday of paper making there may be none.

*A Competitive Genesis of the Mysteries*
At the end of all knowledge lies the place nobody like to go to. It is the end that justified the beginning. It completes the circle in a recurring idiocy. It is the artistic drop-off point, supposedly so intelligent that it has become irrelevant is a state of mind as warped as it inception. Here it is, the end of all knowledge and ambition as twisted as a Lovecraftian portal. There are two immortals. There are those who complete the way of knowledge and those who never attempt it.
"Herein, lie all the mysteries, but be warned, for they are threefold!"
"As above, so below." -Thoth
1. The end justifies the means.
2. The means justify themselves.
3. Two for the makers, one for the fools.
4. The more you know, the less you show.
5. Help to keep the mysteries, for they bring treasures.
6. I summon thee for wine, and from wine you are summoned.
7. A screen is a screen, no matter how high or low.
-Francis Blake

*Math Anxiety* "The Silent Killer"
"It ain't no joking. It ain't no jive. The American machine eats people alive." -Anonymous
Math anxiety refers to a feeling of fear or stress that one experiences when faced with mathematical problems or concepts. It can range from mild discomfort to extreme dread, leading to avoidance of math-related tasks and an overall negative attitude towards the subject. Math anxiety can have serious consequences that may disrupt a person's life.
Firstly, math anxiety can impede one's academic and career progress. Math skills are essential in many fields, such as science, engineering, finance, and even art. Secondly, math anxiety can lead to a negative self-image and decreased confidence. Individuals with math anxiety may perceive themselves as unintelligent or incompetent, leading to feelings of shame and inferiority. Finally, math anxiety may limit one's ability to make informed decisions in everyday life.

*Why is music inextricably linked to the Devil?*
The quickest way to lose one's soul is to pick a math book and begin to study its history. If they are serious enough, they will surely lose their soul. The modern Arabic math system , in fact, was only as recently developed around the time of the first Spanish colonization of America. Before then they still used a Roman Numeral system. Dr. Faustus was written around the same time but the development of math, in fact, reaches to before written languages. The heart of music is mathematical and, in fact, modern music theory can be traced back to Pythagoreanism which predated Jesus by about five hundred years. Math reveals many truths and secrets to the world and it opposes religion, in fact, Jews were strictly forbidden to study it. The first recorded math was notched on deer antlers and bones which were made to count moon cycles and math was inextricably linked to crop development which is intertwined with the seasons and land partitions which is the root of geometry. Here many sacrifices used to be made to the Devil, who really preceded God in historical development. It is also because of crops that the Devil is linked to Blacksmithing. Metals were vastly important to crop yields and work, and the development of metals was said to have started by unnatural means after the Stone Age, possibly with teachings by demons.
Note* Gunpowder was also called the Devil's work by the church because of the saltpeter mines and its sulfurous mixture as well as the printing press which took the place of handcopied works. These are all linked to the medical establishment, also which was often Occultists or Pythagorean, and uses alchemy which was often the job of the blacksmith.

*Discordia* "Restoring the Bow's Tension"
"Blessed are the poor in spirit for theirs is the Kingdom of God" Matt: 5
Firstly, what is the true nature of interconnectedness, or the "Force" if you will? The nature of the Force is to restore balance. When one proponent is up, it is the Force's nature to return it down through opposition. Therefore, when people feel unequal they strive for equality, sometimes through war and violence or perhaps, through achievement and grandeur.
Violence, crime, and racial inequality are a proponent of nature. It would be an unnatural abomination for there to be one humanity that always gets along. Instead, nature breeds diversity and conflict in order to hide any justification of harmony. When one strives for peace it is an action written against the very natural course of life itself. Peace and harmony and unity are a never-ending battle that can never be won. Instead, one achieves true harmony through an understanding of discord. When the world has an illusion of harmony the possibility of violent retaliation grows exponentially like a balance filled rocks that is heavy on one side. The more people who embrace a constant discord, thus, the more harmony the world achieves. Likewise, a man who is poor in spirit may not feel the need for ambition because he is already equal. Beware, though of blind corners and an impending top floor for these may indeed spark an eternal need and crash into a person.

*Paradise Gained* 'Picking the Locks at Heaven's Gate"
Paradise is to not only grasp the books but to write at one's leisure. It is to not fear violence, but to grasp the sword. It is to not engineer and till the soil, but to make for one's further grasp. Paradise is to transcend the spiritual network and live with clarity, instead where the spirits act on one's behalf. Paradise has been both lost and denied since Eden of the Bible because of the sins of mankind. From here love is the fool and the curse. Hahaha
Laughter echoes down the halls,
Paradise at Heaven's Gate.
The parchment and the ink still calls,
of Hells they've written of late.

okay this one isn't that bad, I like that it's so minimalistic
i think they already did 3 or 4 videos of a guy walking but they put a bit more of color in this one

Not minimalistic enough tbh.
Minimalistic and boring is a huge difference.
Nope, it is still bad. The clip is not related to the lyrics.
*Why is marriage a withering institution in America?* "Getting Medieval at the Contra Dance"
The awful truth about marriage is that traditionally most marriages were arranged and concerned with wealth and status. Love is a naive American concept intertwined with notions of Freedom and Liberty. Modern marriages based on wealth and status are more practical and have a much better chance of survival through divorce because of the hard nature of relationships. This, though is also rare, thus the root of marriage rests in the hands of complex decisions based on desire and naive personal choice.

*Art in Mathematical Quantities*
Scholarship and artistic endeavors require several iterations of thought and preparation. In fact, one may say that the more iterations involved in a work, the greater it is likely to become. Unfortunately, The more iterations involved, the less amount of people are able to successfully measure them. Still, for a work to be considered great it must have competitive numbers of iterations of thought and preparation. This is how to truly affect the world. Build in successful iterations. The same applies to the self. Being socially competitive requires competitive iterations.
The were many stages that led to the development of monotheism. Pre-Graeco-Roman number systems and Hieratic Egyptian texts are interesting. The fact that religion still exists is really kind of amazing. LOL
This vid is actually kinda good, it works better as an independent scene that happens to include a joy division song, Rather than a music video specifically for a joy division song.
i don’t really care what people think from 4 years ago tbh i don’t even pay attention to the video i just listen 🤷
It’s about the Inquisition,
“ the blood of Christ On thier skin’
The video is not bad, Just feels like there could have been so much more...Especially, with the potential in this music. It is a "re-imagined" video, and that is the vision of the person making the video...Visions and interpretations of music vary. Maybe another series of fan videos to celebrate the music and anniversary could/should be made? (From fans around the world.) Then we can enjoy the variety of visions from many who love this music like we do. Ultimately, every new "re-imagined" video of Joy Division's prolific music, provides more Joy Division we have listened to for decades, here for our enjoyment and for discovery of those who are still finding their way in music.

The video is so slow but the song is up beat. This is my major criticism of this reimagined work. Sorry.
