I love how you can always find these small little family owned shops with super delicious food all around the country! Sometimes you walk into somewhere really unassuming and you can just feel the history - makes the food taste that much better.
When I was in kinderfarten, back in 1978, a girl in class went to Japan with her family. She brought back some Japanese candy for us to try. I have been searching for what it was ever since. Now I know it is called "yokan".
Thank you for coming to my town Nikko! I'm so glad to you had nice food and sightseeing in Nikko. Actually, I recommend Miyamae dango to your listener (6:50), Nikko has many so nice Manju and Dango, but Miyamae-dango is the best Dango in Nikko. Nikko has other good foods too. Please come back to Nikko to food trip and hiking again. I wait for your next visiting. Thank you, Arigato!!!
@@chunjiebeh Hi, Thank you asking. I recommend good 2 Soba restaurants.1. Takumian (たくみ庵): This soba restaurant is located near the TAMOZAWA Imperial Villa Memorial Park. The yuba sashimi is especially delicious. The soba is also very delicious. 2. Shingetu(新月) : This soba restaurant is located on the shores of Lake Chuzenji. The soba is very delicious, but the tempura is also delicious. Enjoy to amazing soba lunch in Nikko!!
I would try all the food in Japan they all look so delicious and tasty and the beer too just wish I could travel to Japan to see for myself but I don’t think I will get to in my lifetime
Japan's countryside always looks beautiful and clean. I imagine myself standing in the open for a long time to breath in the fresh. I'm not much of a dessert/ sweet person, so the karaage is my pick 😁
oh, I must visit this city, I'd love to snack on the Yuba Manju, and the Youkan looks fun with the traditional wrapping, the classic Karage omg looks so delicious
Another home run! Now I have to put Nikko on my list to visit. Such a great little city with so much to see and eat. And of course with the best presenter! Thanks for the great content!
I actually made something similar to the red bean block desert lol. I found the recipe in some old cookbook and it mentioned being traditionally wrapped in bamboo leaves so i guess its a version of it
@@JapanbyFood it actually didnt taste any different to the regular red bean paste you find in the stores. the texture is smoother though like a harder version of jelly
I have widely traveled in Japan 40-45 cities across Honshu and Hokkaido. After seeing this video , thinking whether I should have been to Nikko. What say?
Ironically, I just watched this movie, "Sweet Bean", about this man who ran a dorayaki shop. Well, it was more about relationships, but it did show how to make sweet red bean paste.
What would you try?
The yuba and dorayaki👌🏽
Yes.
The chicken and dorayaki looks so delicious!
The Karaage looks especially fantastic 🤤
Youkan and Fried Chicken for sure!

Just loved the look of that bamboo wrapped youkan shizuka, almost a shame to unwrap and eat it.
It was a piece of art!
You are adorable. With name like Anderson.......your father from British Nordic Isles. When you smile everybody watching smiles with you (contagious).
Thank you for your kind words!
Shizuka walking into a derelict block of flats with faeces smeared all over the walls: "WOOOOOOOWWW!!! SUGOOOOIIIIIIII!!!!!!!!"

you should refer this fried chicken to Chris Broad ...
We will!
how can you eat a lot of food and not gaini weight? can you share some tips? 😁
We wanna hear those tips too!

Sounds interesting! Where can you watch it?
@@JapanbyFood My brother gave me his DVD of the movie. It's coded for watching in America. Maybe there's one available with Japan Regional Coding.

Where we get Indian veg food
Where we get Indian food
It's hard to go wrong with fried chicken.
True that!
The bakery next to the Nikko train station has a bad pudding. Not one of the best puddings in Japan.
We did not get to try that one :/ There is a great pudding place in Ningyocho called Tsukushi. Make sure to give it a try:)
🍻😁
you are a very beautiful man
OIISSHHHIIIIIIII lol
I can't stand all theses yellings
