i dont know about your x2 but mine has problem with pen, touch screen and speaker. the speaker has very tiny sound. sometimes the touch screen on some areas of the screen are unresponsive. pen simply stops working after 5-6 of minutes of use then starts working again and i am now on my 2nd pen direct from HP, still has same issue
do you have these same issues?

What do you do if this gets the black screen of death and no matter if it’s on or off it a black screen
Had to RMA mine after only 11 weeks - the power button was wonky from
the beginning, often requiring more than one press for the 1012 to turn
on. Last week the keyboard died (touchpad still worked) together with a
fatal Bios error (DXE Update on every reboot). Factory reset gave me a
red screen after a "Biosrecutil stopped working" crash during the
process and after that the device hard-locked. After turning it off it
could no longer be turned on.
Great device, with big reliability problems.
Today, my x2 just swiched of because of low battery, after 12 hours plugged is still unable to turn on...
You didn’t mentioned how easy it is to repair this tablet.
Definitely interesting, however to deploy across a business I dunno, I just thing there are other options albeit without a pen etc but are the things it brings to the table worth it over a regular lenovo business grade laptop like the x1 carbon, I just don't think so.

Excellent review and one of then only places including the instruction manual that told me the tablet was able to use an micro sd card.

+Matthew Moniz it's a huge step up from the Windows 7 very slow Dell unit I had through my IT dept. I just received it several days ago and need a bit more time to get used to it, but the speed, weight, screen, and did I say speed...is great. Never used a windows based tablet or a pen but have photoshop elements and hope to load it onto this unit...oh I can't...no DVD drive! I ordered a 4 port USB 3 hub and a 200GB micro sdxc card to up the storage. The Bluetooth mouse that came does not stay connected, but feel it's probably a software issue.
update...I added the 200GB SDXC card and works fine. still cant get the Microsoft bt mouse to work consistently. Love the pen...

I use this laptop and the sound setting can the adjusted using the bang and olufsen sound system on the laptop. The default is low but i was able to set it to what i like as well as increase the volume. The reviewer did not know of this obviously.

While I was working in Shenzen (china) for a few weeks my company gave a chinese tablet which a very similar hinge mechanism.
But that was more than a year ago, so I am surprised to see it now appearing in the western market.

Yeah, these things are pretty damned expensive at RRP. If you're a large enough business then HP do some pretty big discounts. If you're not large enough you can get these pretty cheap 2nd hand as no one knows about them.
This has a serious problem.
After a firmware update,
The rear camera wont funtion anymore.
Every diagnostic and Isolation was already done but no good.
Already forward the unit to HP and its been there for 2 weeks already but they still do not have a fix for this. 😑😑😑
Hey I have a question. I have the same exact device, it was working just fine but 5 days ago it stopped working and wouldn't turn on, the power light was only blinking red even though I tried charging it. I managed to fix it. But two days later which was yesterday It was working fine. I turned it off for 10 minutes and the charge was 80 at the time. Then I came back to use it and it wouldn't work. it would start blinking red and white repeatedly. I tried plugging it in to charge nothing happened. I tried the way I used previously it still won't budge. I tried pressing the power button for a whole minute in order to restart, the blinking stopped and the light went off. Then I repressed the power button and the blinking started again. What do you think the problem is? And how can it be fixed without losing data?🥺

I'm looking at purchasing an ex-lease HP Elite with i7-7600U, 16GB RAM, 256GB SSD (from a reputable Tech retailer) so I can finally return to finish my degree, & for the price they're asking it seems to be both an affordable & capable companion to my powerful home PCs!
I did purchase one of these ex-lease HP Elite X2 notebook/tablets, but the first one I returned the next day as it looked like the previous owner had faced the camera into the bright Australian summer sun way too many times (large dead-areas on a very blurry image). However, I absolutely love the replacement unit they gave me!
Also found someone on eBay selling brand new pens for such a good price that I bought a pair in case one breaks, & incidentally HP apparently listened to their customers as mine has a pen storage-loop on the left side of the keypad!

+Matthew Moniz Got it! I took the pen for granted since the Surface also includes it. Adding the keyboard is also a nice touch, but I would have also liked to have a core i5 or even an i7 option! Being a student who travels a lot these Surface-like convertibles really suit my needs. I hope new players jump on board in the near future, so we can have more options!
The key is pretty much a direct copy of the surfaces one. That's not bad.

just calling it USB-C for charging is just wrong it's a thunderbolt 3 connector that is powerfull enough for an eGPU

I have a nice folio case that I've had for a while. It has a pen loop on the spine. Works great for these type of devices.

At my local tech retailer, they're selling the x2 with m5 4GB RAM and 128GB for $700 CDN. Would you say that would be a good deal? (I currently use a MacBook Air 2011 to surf, watch shows, and code a bit of R and Python for data analysis.)
Including the obligatory tax, it comes to approximately $597 USD.
I know what the other options are and I know their specs. My original question was whether or not that price is good. No worries though, I already have my answer.
For $1300, I would have hoped for a better screen resolution :/
But hey - the Surface Pro 4 with the same storage and memory but an i5 may have a crazy 2736x1824 resolution doesn't have anywhere near the same battery life.

not a fan of the display get a quality notebook and get a surface pro 4 its amazing been using it for 1 year and it runs as new its durable and fast and can handle anything with its i7 7 generation processor extremely recommended if looking for new laptop 8)

i recently got the same model as this one and a full windows 10 pc in a tablet is insane!!
How is it running in 2023? Any lag?
@@aletius I have the G2 version and I use it for heavy art and music projects and a lot of multimedia work and it works phenomenally. I've never been more satisfied with a computer that works this well at multiple different tasks that's also portable with a 2k display and a great touch-screen. The only two major problem is the in-built speakers and Windows not being a great touchscreen OS.

Watching this on an Elite X2. The only advantage over the Surface Pro 4 is that it has a SIM card slot.

Surface Pro 4 is more polished with Windows Hello but keyboard is the extra purchase. Lack of LTE is a major issue for me. That's where the Elite X2 wins. If you don't care about 4g, the Surface Pro is the winner.
The pen on the surface pro 4 is rubbish for note taking. I had one for about a year and shortly after trying out an X2 1012 for work, I sold the surface pro.
