Northern Mudlarks Hi! Me and my daughter (she’s 7) we watch your videos together and we’re going to explore here in the hopefully not faraway future!! Thanks for the inspiration. We want to get a camper so we can explore our beautiful country together. I did a bit of this with my grandparents when I was younger and they had their camper, but would love to do it more fully now. Thanks for the lovely videos, you’re both so lovely 😊
HEY!!! YOU MISSED ONE GEMSTONE THERE!! LOOK AT 9:08 I SAW ONE JUST THERE WHILE YOU WERE SHAKING THOSE PEBBLES!!!! 😱🙈 Watch the video at half speed you'll see it!!!!
I love beaches, I could spend hours at the beach, I collect glass marbles, rocks, drift woods...you name it. One day I followed by a bee right to the water as it was guarding me, it was so cute!, then I found the perfect shape of triangle rock, and keep it till this day. It must've meant something spiritually, the way how it happened. So I thanked the bee for leading me to the finding :-) it was beautiful moment.
Srikandi Warion There is a beach in Florida called Sanibel and they find lots of seashells there, it’s so fun to set there and go through the shells and collect them.

I’m a gemologist and my grandmother was a geologist- we went everywhere together rock hunting -the adventures we had! This brings back such good memories- something about being connected to the earth. It also makes me wonder in ages past if other people collected them on this very beach you were on as well and made beautiful jewelry with them- maybe the ones who lived in the castle that was once on the hill- and maybe there’s a treasure chest waiting for someone not to far from there..You never know...in the meantime, keep up all the great work and enjoy the moments!
U 2 just the sweetest! How cool is your mom! Very special to have a piece of jewelry that she made for u from the stones you 2 hunted! Yur country is very beautiful ❤️, and blessed u can go there to find minerals ❣️ Thanks for sharing and I look forward to more adventures with u both!
Took me 57 years to find true peace, and I think it just happened today while watching your videos, lol. The beauty of nature, the music you choose, and your dear mum out there with you hunting for treasures make these videos a true pleasure to watch.
I enjoy seeing what you find, but the true treasure is seeing you and your mother do things together. I hope you both know what an amazing blessing you have in each other. May you have many more years of adventuring together. 💞
I was in Scotland when I was 14 with my mom and dad. I am 68 now and would love nothing more than to return someday. It was a wonderful, magical trip and I have such fond memories. I am an avid jewelry fan so I was enchanted watching you pull these lovely garnets right out of the sand! Thank you for sharing your adventure. Jen
I just love watching your videos. I live in Utah USA. Our find here are a bit different. My father took me dump diving when I was little 6, 7 hrs old. And I always loved finding all kinds of things. I enjoy watching and getting excited with you. You are true Artists!
How wonderful to live somewhere you can find such treasures. I'm not a big fan of the color red, but I have always loved Garnets. Thanks so much for sharing. The ring is perfect.

Just discovered your channel after watching Nicola's latest video and ended up watching all of your videos, back to back. The quality of some of the video editing and choice of camera angles really impressed me for someone new to content making. Personally I found them just the right length and a good combination of on-site discovery and historical research. Sound will no doubt be your biggest problem, especially outdoors and with 2 people, rather than just solo. I especially enjoyed watching your excitement with the bottle digging videos as it brought back my own memories from the 80's when I used to go bottle digging with my mate. I remember having the same feelings when I found my first poison, my first pot lid etc... they were great days that I get to re-live a bit now, watching others doing it on RUclips! That stoneware ginger beer bottle was definitely a lovely find! Your comment about the 60's Lego being 'really old!' made me feel a bit decrepit though as I used to play with that stuff when it was new!! lol. Anyway, thanks for the excellent videos and I hope there will be many more to come.
I could not agree more with Lez Marwick's statement. My husband and I just love your adventures. You go above and beyond just finding things. You teach, give background info and history of your finds. Well done. Cheers!
Hi Lez! Thank you so much for the comment! I'm so pleased you like our videos so far. I have never edited or filmed anything in my life until now, It was frustrating at first but I'm getting better at it. Wind noise has been a challenge and I recently figured we need a better-suited mic (lapel mics) to catch both of us speaking but they are too expensive for me at the moment. Anyway! I’m planning on a trip to Scotland within the next couple of years to trace my roots. This looks like it would be a fantastic day on the beach and something fun to do as well! Thank you for sharing
Wow, nice chunky "nugs" you and your Mum found! Here in America, when you find garnets, gold is usually found. I read where Scottish gold is the most valued gold around! (I wonder why that is!?) Keep up the great vids, they are always a joy to watch!
Garnets are a type of silica much like other gemstones. Quartz is another one that is often found with gold. Gold seems to appear with volcanic activity and so do the silica gems. That is why they are often found together, although not always. Wire gold from quartz is amazing stuff. It forms in cracks and as the quartz wears away it is released.
The ring is beautiful, love the rough stone. You make a great team and are really doing and excellent job with your videos. Looking forward t o more treasure hunts!
Red garnets are getting rare. Garnett is my birthstone and my husband was looking for a ring or necklace for a gift. The jeweler told him most garnets you find now are more purple.
Alaskan pyrope garnets are very red, most garnets on the market today are alamandine and are more purple, but the variety found in Alaska are more the colour they were finding.
There not rare at gore mtn New York State. They are mined as aggregate by truckloads and the river gravels are up to 20% almandine garnet in some key spots.
Shop Australian sites for Garnets. Hart Range garnets can be stunning Pinks, or look for a Reds And Green from other areas. If you want Beautiful Natural Zircon, we have then too.
Watching this made me homesick! I'd not yet heard of Ruby Bay, so the next time we're on holidays in Bonnie Scotland, we'll be sure to pop by there! :-)
I've always thought that I would love to go to Scotland but now I have another reason to go. I would truly love to take a walk on your beach and see if I could find some garnets. That would be so awesome.
The treasures you and mum find are beautiful but the one treasure you both have is spending time together I really enjoy watching your wonderful videos stay safe.
The best time to come up to Elie is after a good storm to find those garnets. A few year back a guy from further down the coast proposed to his girlfriend, the wedding ring he designed was made from material found in Scotland. He got the gold from a certain river, smoky quartz from where he lives and rubies from Elie aka, ruby bay. His name is Adam McIntosh, he has been on the One show a good few times and all the stuff about the ring was on there.
I found a lavender amethyst geode by accident on my parents property when I was about 10yrs old . This was near Elgin NE Scotland . I picked up a small brown boulder , maybe about 200mm long and it felt too light for the size of it . Puzzled , I threw it against a large rock and the small boulder broke into several pieces . I was amazed to see all those purple crystals inside . I'd forgotten about that .
Man these vids remind me of my childhood going to every end of the U.K- I’ve not been out of it for 20 years and there’s still so much to find. lloniannau.
I love tuning in to watch you ladies wander, looking for treasure. I do this often myself, although I've never been to an area that has garnets (my birthstone) - so I pick up interesting pieces of beach-glass and broken pottery with softened edges. I often take them home, add gold leaf to the edges, and glue a pin-back onto them to make myself lovely little broaches. I also enjoy that you are a mother & daughter who are also friends, just as my mother & I are. We love creating things together as well - it's such a special relationship, to be able to make things together and be part of a creative family. Enjoy! And thanks for sharing!! 💜💙💜
Do it at night, bring a UV light, and the gems will light up. Cash in. Done.
only ruby light up saludos
@felful Every gemstone light differently under UV light
I was thinking the samething.
Light up the ones you have and see how they light up.
The tide may be too high or high enough for difficult conditions. Instead create a box, with fabric head hole and mount lights inside.

The ring is beautiful, love the rough stone. You make a great team and are really doing and excellent job with your videos. Looking forward t o more treasure hunts!
Thank you. That was fun to watch. Beautiful stones.
What a sweet ring! I would love to see you ladies in a video and showing how you make jewelry from your finds. I imagined a pipe stem necklace :D
They are very pretty , the ring your mum made is beautiful. Thankyou.
I don’t know how this video was recommended to me but I’m glad it is ❤️
I loved watching this! Great job 👏
Red garnets are getting rare. Garnett is my birthstone and my husband was looking for a ring or necklace for a gift. The jeweler told him most garnets you find now are more purple.
I would also love to buy a garnett ring it was so cute & dainty ♥️
I love garnets. I have an uncut one that my dad bought for me. I also have several peices of jewellery from my dad and my husband. I am very lucky.
If you want Beautiful Natural Zircon, we have then too.
oh how awesome loved the ring your mum made wow
Watching this made me homesick! I'd not yet heard of Ruby Bay, so the next time we're on holidays in Bonnie Scotland, we'll be sure to pop by there! :-)
It'a at a little place called Elie. Thanks so much for watching!
hi please can i ask u please
You gals are really fun watching and Gail makes really beautiful jewelry! 🐈👌👍🍀
I've always thought that I would love to go to Scotland but now I have another reason to go. I would truly love to take a walk on your beach and see if I could find some garnets. That would be so awesome.
It is nice that you and your mom do this together, i miss my mom she livesvin another state, this is dixie from texas, usa. I love stones and beads.
Been longing for a real garnet ring because it’s my birthstone. I love this video!
The treasures you and mum find are beautiful but the one treasure you both have is spending time together I really enjoy watching your wonderful videos stay safe.
Thanks so much
The best time to come up to Elie is after a good storm to find those garnets.
Great job, I love finding garnets. I found a whole bunch of them in central Washington while looking for gold. I collected quite a bit.
What a life you guys live!
Man these vids remind me of my childhood going to every end of the U.K- I’ve not been out of it for 20 years and there’s still so much to find.
lloniannau.
Nice ring that has the day you spent with your mother attached to it . Beautiful.
Wow, i found your channel today and it was fascinating! I had no idea you could find garnet on the beach. Good vid!
How fun! I am a gather and hunter also. Love nature. Your mom has some serious jewelry making skills. So lovely. 💕💍💕
Reminds me on collecting amber on the west coast of denmark back in the days. Same size stones but other color :-)
