Regardless, all these mastermind plays drawn up are incredible. My eyes are drawn somewhere else and the balls being thrown or run downfield lol. Great banger as always Highlight Reel!
Easy to forget HOW big the differential was. The Oklahoma coach's salary was more than the combined budget for ALL Boise State Athletics combined! Oklahoma had more championships than Boise State had years in 1-A ball! I had a $50 bet on Boise State and was on the phone with the other side of the bet when Zabransky threw a pick-6 with 1:02 left in the game and Oklahoma went up by 7. I asked him if he wanted to double the bet. He said... No. He'd seen enough. Boise State had played smash-mouth football with Oklahoma for 59 minutes. The last minute and overtime was pure magic. Best game in the history of football.
You gotta have the Presbyterian vs Wake Forest game where Presbyterian threw a (backward) bounce pass to a receiver, which then threw the ball downfield. Once of the best trick plays of all time!
IDK Not waiving for a fair catch, is like a QB faking a slide and then busting out for a big run... Kinda abusing a rule , that is only in place to keep them safe. Shouldn't be allowed IMO.
Well the problem is the kick receiver could’ve been tackled at any moment without repercussions, but if a qb is attempting a slide, you can’t tackle them. The play shown only happened bc the kicking team didn’t realize he didn’t call a fair catch, not bc they weren’t allowed to tackle him.
@@TPB-di6qn You are missing the point. We have seen instances where a QB fakes a slide and the defender lets up, allowing the QB to then run for extra yards. It is exploiting the fact that the defenders don't want to get a penalty / or injure the other player. The only reason the defenders didn't destroy the kick returner, is because he lured them into thinking he signaled for a fair catch. It is scummy and can lead to people getting hurt, because defenders now don't trust the system in place.
How would you write it? Just leave it to an official's judgment that the player with the ball is trying to make the other team think the ball's dead? But if you don't want to make it judgment, what criterion would you use? Would you say the ball is dead if you hold it and not move your feet for 2 seconds? 3 seconds? What if you're looking for a receiver?
@@truenorth2653 No you’re missing my point. Yes I understand the defenders don’t want to hurt anybody and the receiver “tricked” them, but it is their fault they didn’t tackle the returner by not watching for a fair catch. My point is that a defender truly could not tackle a QB who is sliding, but the defenders in this play could have plowed into the receiver at any point in time, and only did not do so because of their mistake.
MAN! i remember watching the Rose bowl between USC and Texas and then we got this magical Tostitos Fiesta Bowl. I truly believe that this had some big weight in why the CFP was introduced. Boise State again the big bad Oklahoma Sooners! Not only did BU hold their own and play amazing but they proved that the little guy should get a chance..
BYU did a play once where the QB walked away from the Center acting confused, then the center snapped it to the FB who ran for a TD and the official threw a flag and announced a penalty for trying to deceive the defense. It was a legal play and such a penalty doesn't exist.
The Kansas laying down in the end zone and the GTech hideout play are both illegal. At least, now they are. I think it was Washington that was called for laying down in the end zone a couple of years ago, so word got out on that one. Hideout plays have never been legal but coaches still try and run them at all levels. Players not involved in the previous play must come to at least the bottom of the numbers (making it obvious the player is in the game) but even then, no tactic associated with the substitution process may be used to confuse an opponent. That's in Rule 9, Section II, I believe. It says the same thing in 2 sentences, so they don't want that done at all. There are probably 3 or 4 Approved Rulings on it as well in the back of the book.
you're allowed to pass it backwards or sideways (known as a lateral pass) anywhere on the field and as much as you want, but you can only pass forwards once per play, and it must be thrown from behind the line of scrimmage (where they set up at the start)
Could watch all day. This is the stuff we used to do in flag football.

Appalachian State vs Michigan ranks up there too. Both games were amazing.

Boise state over Oklahoma still maybe the greatest trick play

Can't stand when they call a reverse a double reverse when it's only a reverse. The first hand off is an end around not the first "reverse"

Jalen Hurts to Ceedee Lamb at 10:18!!!
This is the kind of football that I prefer, more thought, less brute force.
the first one is North Texas Eagles...aka Mean Green
❤
At 10:05 Jalen hurts and ceedee lamb make a great team
“The INTRO gets increasingly better”
Why is one team wearing pajamas around 10:30?
College football more trick plays than pro
They didn't all get increasingly more clever.
How come sometimes they can pass it around and still throw it forward but other times if they do it's a penalty?
