At last you you've produced a video that goes back to why you started the channel. I listen to the horror stories you tell & try to warn newbies about the dangers but it does get boring for us that have lived here like yourself for many years in Isaan, I don't really care about a lonely bald, middle aged tourist that get fleeced by his GFE in Pattaya... it's the same old same old story. Today was brilliant, I ended up nodding my head a lot.....I especially laughed when Pim mentioned about giving the wallet & the girl thinking he could be my husband......your answers totally nailed what I did 20 years ago. One thing I noticed with my first Thai girlfriend when we were traveling around Thailand, she would encourage me to be generous to Thai workers at hotels and restaurants and taxis. I understood that she felt empathetic for the hard working Thais who are struggling financially but I started to feel like maybe she was being too generous with my hard earned money. She never had control of my wallet or access to my money though. I understood that she felt empathy for these hard working Thais more than she felt loyal to me. But in a way, I love her for her care for others too. Mixed feelings.

If she’s just a holiday girlfriend, then I’m fine treating her to a vacation too. But problems can arise if she is dishonest and greedy or doesn’t seem to appreciate it. I’m not going to support the prostitution in Thailand. Let’s not use the euphemism “bargirl” or “freelancer”. I’m not moralistically judging the women that feel this is the only way to escape poverty. I just feel bad for them. There’s a history behind the sex tourism in Thailand tied to colonialism and kleptocracy and the Vietnam war. Guys coming here need to understand the difference between the Thai words 'geek' and 'faen' 'Geek' - A girl who you're with mostly transactional, casual relationship, open certainly on the girl's end, and the guy gives her some money either every night or every so often. 'Faen' - Typically more similar to a traditional boyfriend/girlfriend relationship. Decide if you want her to be your 'geek' or more serious girlfriend i.e 'faen'.

I am not a bodybuilding star or at the peak of age but I intend to use my assets, because everyone has them, to sell myself too and if it does not work too bad, the opportunities to start again in Thailand are countless. One thing I noticed with my first Thai girlfriend when we were traveling around Thailand, she would encourage me to be generous to Thai workers at hotels and restaurants and taxis. I understood that she felt empathetic for the hard working Thais who are struggling financially but I started to feel like maybe she was being too generous with my hard earned money. She never had control of my wallet or access to my money though. I understood that she felt empathy for these hard working Thais more than she felt loyal to me. But in a way, I love her for her care for others too. Mixed feelings.

Brigitte L Jones. Great video with the 2 of you sharing this topic well. I found Pim mostly understandable with Dan rarely interupting aside from one point he had Pim clarify being helpful. To some of the critics of Pim who has good enough English and that a Westerner can persue anything that needs more clarifying, yet is culturally & emotionally different, they need to realise that can be typical of a REAL relationship(not a scammer) with a younger generation Thai woman - at best. Very hard work for both, that neither would persevere with, aside from having a child in common.
The body language here is distant and screams business partners. This is not a love relationship.

I can only follow what Pin is saying because my ear is tuned in to how Thai women explain themselves in English. Obviously that won't be the case for most of your viewers so it would be helpful if you explain even more often than you do what Pin is trying to say on this video. It's clear to me that she is not trying to make excuses for typical Thai behaviour but honestly to explain it as best she can -but she's not very coherent. This is a very promising new segment in your channel in my view and I'd like to see it continue.

Pim certainly can give a opinion from certain Thai women perspective - but of course not all. What is Pim's background - uneducated, working in bar, comes from poor family? There of course Thai women from other backgrounds - educated, working in professional well-paid jobs, they are already supporting their parents if needed, family is from middle or upper class. Pim's views do not represent all Thai women of course. Men who fall in love with holiday girlfriend - losers fall in love, non-losers smart guys understand the situation. To Pim's credit - she refers to bar girls & holiday girlfriends.
Of course, we mainly only discuss the type of Thai women that want to date a foreigner…. Most Thai women are not interested in western men and especially the type of women that are not poor or in debt…. 👀

Hey, if the farang finally retires and is just smoking and drinking and going to bars, uhm, yeah she might dump the guy and try to get as much money as she can. She’s probably already dealt with Thai man like that whether it was her brother, father or husband who was drunk on rice whisky and not pleasant to be around.
These poor Thai women from the farming village NEED the money but want real love too. The bar girl prostitute has learned to sacrifice the real love for the money she needs.
The other working women that are not prostitutes still usually really NEED the money. 💰 If you can provide it without bankrupting yourself, go for it. I think a problem often arises when you get a working class retiree who really cannot afford to buy the land and house that most Thai women want. It’s important to explain to them that you cannot afford that. If she still sticks around when you tell her that, you may have some real love there.
I financially support my Thai gf as generously as I can, but it is hardly enough for her and her toddler. She certainly doesn’t have enough to spend on luxuries-just powdered milk and diapers consume most of my donation. I am sure there are many Pattaya bar girls who make a lot of money from their customers. but I think they are in the minority. I don’t think they are all scheming vixens with multiple sugar daddies-most are just struggling to get by.

So when I come to Thailand I am determined to consider that the majority of women are too. With respect because they are human beings, but my respect will be exactly proportional to theirs.

Western education as a man, concerning male-female relationships is not compatible with the Thai education of a woman on the same subject, and even less of a woman who is used to working in the night entertainment industry.
Yes, the Thai woman plays a game, she counts on her body, her physical beauty, her kindness to sell herself because she does not find the same qualities or the comfort of life that she claims to have with the majority of Thai men compared to the idea she has of foreigners.

Hi Dan, putting aside the fact that any guy who goes to a place like Pattaya and picks up a bar girl, and later expects a loyal girlfriend out of her, is a complete blithering and naive idiot, the fact is that some of those women do lie to the men and promise them faithfulness in exchange for a monthly salary, which, by all measures, is very wrong of them to do if they have no intention of being honest and loyal.
