I first heard sparklehorse back in 2000 from a girl who gave me a copied cassette. I must've listened to it a million times over the first month I had it... genius!
He was amazing and this set is darkly gorgeous. Wow. You can really get lost in his work like with other depressive artists like Elliott Smith, Nick Drake, Kurt Cobain, and Ian Curtis, but remember you are what you eat and you think about what you surround yourself with. So if you listen to depressive music, you will feel depressed. Sprinkle in some happy stuff or go watch whatever makes you happy. I got lost in sun kil moon, Sparklehorse, and Elliott Smith and was very suicidal. I realize now the music was my company in misery. My toxic, codependent companion. I know not everyone is like this but be careful if you have certain tendencies.
I can handle depressing music. It's the MFing masked stupid as F sheep injecting themselves with experimental gene therapy to save them from ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.......THAT......is what I cannot handle. And when I see little kids in masks......DUDE............I want to grab a brick and approach their parents. No...but for real though. The stupidity in this world is 100% DISGUSTING.
I love/ loved Sparklehorse saw them 8 times also love Sun Kil Moon, but prefer Red House Painters also seen both of Mark Kozeleks bands a few times aswell as Mark solo, but I have to say I've never felt depressed listening to music like that a little sad yea,but then I may be lucky cos I've always had a positive outlook on life halfpint full not empty, poor but happy,oh well were all different I suppose, great music though either way,👍🎸
I was diagnosed with clinical depression at age twelve. A few years later, Bipolar 2. I think you're absolutely right about not bogging yourself down with too many depressive signals, but back when I found artists like Sparklehorse, and relatively more recently Julien Baker, it just felt good to hear sounds that could reach all the way down into the pits I've had to climb in and out of all these years.
I love you my brother from another mother I miss you ...Your music and passion will live on ....Great show Anton Keulers Thank You for posting.Mr Mark Linkous RIP my friend
A number of these songs have bits of other peoples songs/influence in there, but it's the delivery and instrumentation that still gives them a unique sound and feel.

Rest In Peace, Mark. I thought your work would spread to more ears after you passed away, as it happened to Elliott Smith, Nick Drake, And even Ian Curtis. That doesn’t seem to be happening, but there’s a large cult following who think of you all the time. I’m pretty sure you’re at peace. I wish you could have found it here, but we know how much you were hurting. All is forgiven.
They’re very hard to find. Often I find out about them because of their death. Listen to Purple Mountains. Silver Jews is the same guy, but Purple Mountains is his best and last work and clearly intended to be his last. He was a published poet as well. Mark was more sensitive and it seems, fragile. More likeable. But Berman, I forget his first name, isn’t unlikeable. I think Mark’s main gift was less in his words and more in the delivery. His production, effects, and melodies all came together with yes, his great vocals to make something amazing. Especially on certain songs, this set is full of them.
Paix et amour a tous ceux qui ecoutent ce live. Merci Mark ❤
May this wonderful man rest in peace

Unbelievable. Intense: surely one of the great poets. Where are they now?
