Iirc that's a rumor because no one was there for their duel. There is evidence to suggest he was intentionally late to use the sunset in order to have an unfair fight. There is also confusion since if he just beat kojiros brains out as you say, why in his books did he acknowledge kojiro as his strongest opponent

Ahhh the battle at ganryu island, Miyamoto Musashi hired a boatman to ferry him around the island for three hours so he could waddle the boat paddle into a bokken, the challenger was so infuriated and drunk with rage from the tardiness of his opponent he blindly charged in as soon as Musashi landed and got his ribs broken and head bashed In two moves and then left as his opponents retainers tried chasing him.
I once thought chopping wood with a hatchet would be a good idea and I missed a chop and the back side if the axe hit me in the shin, I still have a diamond shape scar and indent in my shin ever since I was 14.. As long as kyle doesn't do dumb stuff like that he's fine..

As for Woody, there have been a few fake out deaths, so he just might not be up to sped and may believe that, say, Duplikate is actually dead.
I mean yeah, metal is so much sharper/ stronger than us, even a dull blade cuts with any real force behind it. There really is merit too the saying of “the most dangerous knife is a dull knife” because of those facts lol

They're called tatami mats. It's the proper angle, downward motion, and making sure you use all your muscle groups when you swing. Including the pulling slicing motion that Woody mentioned. It takes a lot of fucking practice.

In curved blades, the curve compensates for the slicing motion by completing the motion itself with just a straight motion. So woodys onto something

I've always been paranoid about that happening and I stand with the opposite foot back so it's out of the way of my downward swing
