You were the first player I saw using the ridiculous shaped LAB putter. You were the first player I saw admit they were stumbling on RUclips you were the last professional I hear complaining when you play crap. All together you just seem real, you come across as real. Maybe you could film yourself with a student, relevant content to us club players. Happy New year and keep the faith fella

Please don't quit! You have the personality and credibility other channels lack.
However I get tangledbuo with all of the different swing tweaks- from Hogan to Moe Norman to Bryson- different swing thoughts, planes, setup, etc.
Your Eureka Swing is brilliant. It's really helped.
I enjoyed your vids a lot more when you hat the shot tracer on.
Take a look at Golf Sidekick (Matt Greene). He has it going on.
    Happy New Year!

Good luck for the new year pal, I am from Kinross but live in New Zealand, the one video that sticks in my head is your chipping video that talked about the mental approach, see the shot, visualize it and hit it. Don’t f**** around just go for it. I think about this tip so often when I get nervy around the greens. You have changed my game and I appreciate all your content. Keep up the good work

Hi Steve I rarely comment but it seems like you need some encouragement! The first video of yours that I came across was you analyzing the stack and tilt swing. I was impressed by your personality and enthusiasm. I notice now on my feeds that a lot more of your "shorts" are coming through and I think that will probably get your channel better exposure and more views.! I for one will keep watching.

Happy New Year to you Steve and here’s hoping for more success in 2025. I personally like your presenting style and hope you don’t change. I used to follow a very popular RUclips golfer but stopped after pretty much every one of his videos contained click bait titles, which I hate. He’s still very very successful but I haven’t watched him for a couple of years now. Every video was “this is the end” “I can’t carry on after this” “It’s all over” “ I nearly got punched on the course” etc etc. all a load of old rubbish to get people to click on the video. Unfortunately they obviously still do. I hope you don’t ever feel that you have to go down this route and I’m sure that most of your loyal followers feel the same way. In my opinion you produce way better content and I’m sure that will ensure your channel continues to steadily grow.

RUclips is tough - but don't fall into the trap of comparing yourself to others. You will always come up short that way. Also, I just took a peak, the Avg. Golfer isn't getting 20k views a video. Maybe over time, but not out of the gate. One thing I will say - I think his production value is quite high. Having said that, I'm a big fan of your channel. Keep at it. You're doing great!

I watch most all of your videos because I like what you have to say. At least 95% of videos out there (instructional) don't apply to my issues, but I watch some. The same is true here, but your videos are great to watch. You're having fun doing most of them. While the Scotland videos are beautiful, most people will never get there. I have been twice and it is even greater in person. The glove is exactly as described...WORLD CLASS and a 10 out 10. Sorry to hear your frustration and I agree you deserve more than you are getting.
    Maybe ask subscribers for ideas.

Peter finch , Rick shields ect.
Then you will get subscriber’s cross pollinating.

Clearly you have the desire, drive, knowledge and personality to succeed at any complex endeavor. But I would caution that you not get in a hurry. I am sure you give that same advice to students who get frustrated that they haven’t yet mastered the complex game of golf. I imagine you advise them to relax, keep working and take it a piece at a time, right? It is good advice and I think it applies to your business efforts as well. You will get loyal support from this subscriber. Dan H

Hi Steve. Greetings from the state of Utah. I've been thinking about what you said and I have to admit that my views have fallen off a bit lately. For me, I think it's the off-season lulls and the difficulty of staying engaged with snow on the ground. It's hibernation season. Having said that, I do enjoy your instructional videos. They have helped me tremendously as I find adjustments for my aging golf swing. But since I can't go outside and practice the drills, it's difficult to process and absorb the content - even good content. p.s. I really enjoyed the Dunbar and the Tomatin videos. Thanks for those!

I too am totally behind you Steve. One thing other golf focused RUclips sites do is have a ball flight tracker. Seeing the result reinforces the instruction.
As a seventy-something taking up golf after a 20 year hiatus, I have discovered that there are physical elements needed to make golf once again enjoyable, like balance and the ability to turn my body. Lots of tips from physios on RUclips, but what tips are best suited to get us more "golf fit" would be greatly appreciated.

Retired in the New England area of the States! I am finally able to focus on improving my golf game. That’s how I found your videos. I am looking at technology to help me. I think Simulators are what revolutionizes the teaching industry. But, I don’t know as much about them as I need to. Maybe that’s an area you can help with. They are currently out of my range price wise but I rent time and watch the pricing. It’s getting better so I’m encouraged that one may be in my future. Hey Steve; I subscribed to your channel when you had less then 50,000 followers. I have "thumbed up" every one of your videos since. I signed up because I was looking for golf tips as self taught golfer returning to the game after retirement. Your channel made the most sense to me out of all the golfing instruction channels out there. As a golf history buff I liked the idea of a proper Scottish golf instructor along the lines of a much younger "Young Tom." Last year in Ireland I played an Old Tom Morris course and felt the history. Got a photo of me and statue "Tom" at the end of the round. I've learned a lot from you. But how many times can you teach "set up, turn, bottom of club, bottom of ball, turn, release"? You manage to come up with new, sometimes old, ways of doing that. So you've maintained my interest. But sustainable? you'd need fresh students coming to the channel. As for those that watch and don't subscribe, can't force to.... I'm back to Ireland this spring with my All weather Loft&Lie gloves. Not much need for them in SoCal. I hope you find a major distributor of your gloves and can leave RUclips. Thanks much. Plus; I'm really starting to understand the Scottish burrrrrrr. that's good for my planned Scottish trip this coming Fall.

Ťry not to lose faith! Your strengths include fresh perspectives, your humor and humility.
No idea about how to fix the RUclips formula, but how about announcing a lesson (iron strike improvement - for example) and then asking subscribers to send in videos that will be used in the lesson? I’m sure legal would require you to blur the face for privacy reasons. But this might increase some interaction and some new subscribers.
    Just a thought. Ray

Enjoyed this video Steve and you've earned a new subscriber. It's not easy running a YT channel and it can be frustrating at times but stick with it. You're a likeable guy and present well but sound a bit deflated.
I'll tell you something I'd love to see and I suspect more people would too. Why don't you ask people so submit their golf swings to you for review and you can essentially provide feedback. Lots of golf pros are offering this through Skillest as a way to get people to sign up to their coaching (first lesson is free etc.) Instead of doing it through the platform, get average golfers to share their swings with you and then provide analysis as a packaged video for all of us to see. You could either do continuous coaching with different people (one off swing reviews) or take a select group of people and provide free lessons via RUclips. I'd imagine a lot of us golfers would be interested in seeing someone's journey or your analysis of amateur swings (with tips and drills), thus helping to increase your following and view count.
Anyway, just a thought but hopefully we'll get to see something like this from you but most importantly, keep the chin up and be positive. Personally, I think people will turn off if the content is too down in the dumps.
Looking forward to checking out more of your videos and keeping an eye on what's to come in the future.
Ohh and if you need a guinea pig - I'm happy to help!
    Cheers,
    Andy

Stick at it! Great content delivered with clarity and humour. Suggestions? As from a few others, a shot tracer when demonstrating shots. You mentioned that Andy at the average golfer gets far more views for his on-course travelogue stuff than you did for yours, but perhaps it is because he is already known for doing that sort of content whereas you might need to build up a reputation for such stuff. The other big difference between your content and those that might be regarded as your direct competitors is that you don’t do equipment reviews; golfers are real equipment junkies and nothing attracts them into a website more than looking at new shiny toys. That said it is largely pointless watching scratch golfers banging away with horribly expensive equipment and getting fantastic results when those like me have neither the skill nor the swing speed to do the same even if we could afford the kit.

Sorry to hear the showcase Scotland series didn’t get the viewership. I have definitely benefitted from your instruction videos. They are great as a refresh/fundamentals/feel test at the range. I will make more of an effort to share videos. Is the issue viewer age perhaps? I think your no nonsense instruction appeals to an older demographic who don’t use socials as much which may limit the “sharing = eyeballs”. If you can get the cutthru you have a place tho as your instruction content, in short, is based on clear fundamentals and as a result, is good. Best of luck with the grind/content and the glove which does look mint😎. I don’t use one tho😢

Very competitive place now for RUclipsrs these days maybe you could put your eureka golf swing into a book and see how that sells just a thought.l still like the videos though.
    Happy new year ⛳🏌️

Problem with golf instructional videos on RUclips is that there is a lot of those already. So it's really hard to get through the noice of all the videos out in the "video space". I found you a few years ago when yopu had all your eureka swing videos on RUclips. Back then I had problems to find a swing that suited me. I often overswung the irons and Eureka golf swing (open stance) helped me to shorten the swing a bit.
My problem is that I often try new things instead of really focusing on on swing method as Eureka golf swing. That also messes up my golfing. So this year I will be commited to Eureka Golf swing.

Re-focusing on your Eureka golf swing may be the answer. I’m impressed by the American RUclipsr Tom Sagutto who consistently pushes the ease of his swing system and the benefits. I much prefer your presentation and enthusiasm. You aim at the more serious amateur who wants to put in the work to reap the positive results. Although the odd fundamental: grip, stance, posture is always a great help to us weekend hackers. Good luck and happy new year.

You have a great channel, maybe cross collaboration with other creators, your opinion on equipment, used and new; in the states we have a selling platform called whatnot, like live ebay, other RUclips creators liked Stacked Golf and second hand golfer expand their business models via this cross promotion. Keep grinding as someone new to golf you havd really helped me out, thanks so much. Good luck in 2025, cheers to you and best wishes.

Hi Steve, I’ll be honest the only instructional videos I take much notice of are Golf Sidekick, yourself, and Sophie Walker in no particular order. I gave encouragement when you were majorly cheesed off before and I do wonder how the algorithms work. You made it to 100k and are currently 113 ish so it’s still building.
“Golfmates” has been going seven years maybe eight? And he goes from strength to strength, why?? By and large it’s the same crap every week with the occasional high point of interest. Seems people are happy watching bang average players year in year out never improving and duffing around the course ( Old Man Pat the exception, he’s still a great player ) or taking the same lessons again and again with it going in one ear and out the other.
Stick with it, I’ll continue to watch. I might even buy a glove 😉

Right Steve I think what you need is to do some collaborative work mabe a you tube creators content tourney. You mentioned The average golfer big Andy start there James Robinson Gary Martin just few there’s loads more . A British version of creator content classic very popular with millions of views Rick and Peter did well with they’res get the viewers on the Channel and then continue with coaching vids it’s just my option of a tube subscriber to most content golf related . Cheers Jimmy

Do some course vlogs with Mike newton (Penrith) - but use both your coaching bias to make these vlogs different to those that others do - make it entertaining and educatioal

Ever considered working with other creators every now and then? Rick Shiels, Peter Finch, Matt Fryer, James Robinson etc. They all have their own style and unique appeal but I'm sure they each benefit from the occasional joint venture.

8.48 mins. That's an interesting eclectic mix that you're sharing the building with Steve. Any inspiration for improving your exposure from them, perhaps? That aside, your frustration still comes across strongly about the lack of success with your RUclips channel. That's a shame, really, because you should be gauging against those who you are helping and not against a mythical figure informed by other RUclips golf channels. Be under no illusions that you are producing very enjoyable and informative material. The diversity of your content provides a different dimension that others do not offer. So, from a purely selfish perspective on my part, keep doing what you're doing. Personally, I no longer watch any other RUclips golfing channels. Oh, by the way, in 2024, since starting to put into practice what you have suggested, my handicap has dropped by 2 shots. I'm now at 9.8 with the aspiration to lose at least another shot this year. Not that bad for a 68 year old really. So, all in all, thank you for your channel, and thank you for not giving up. Stay healthy is the number one goal. Have a prosperous and happy 2025 and well beyond. Lang may yer lum reek.

Just my honest opinion but I think your content needs the following. Guests, more people need to feature on screen rather than it just being you. Locations, obviously Scotland is amazing for this so record content in as many different locations as possible. And finally, Presentation. You need cinematography i.e. great aerial shots, transitions from scene to scene and text overlays. The problem isn't you because you're wonderfully engaging and the problem isn't content because millions of golfers want to see great golf being played and quality instruction. For me it's all just presented too flat, and I think that RUclips is on to you. In conclusion, until your presentation is made shiney then RUclips will not promote your content. A case in point, Rick Shiels is the most irritating character but his presentation etc. is on point ... and now he has almost 3 millions subs. I'd far rather watch you than him mixing it up with the lads from Good Good!

Happy new year Steve, a really interesting insight inside the mind of a youtuber and the trials it puts you through.
Keep going with what you do, I know it seems like a struggle at times and rather frustrating... You WILL get there, where ever there is...
Would it be possible to reach out to the likes of Rick Shiels, Peter Finch to glean some knowledge and insight from them.? 💭💭
Course vlogs seem very popular, I wonder if those with a coaching element woven in could be something that might work.? 💭💭
Whatever you do I'll keep watching and sharing relevant videos, keep going Steve we really appreciate your hard work and the great effort you put in and I for one truly hope you progress further with your channel, you truly deserve further success in 2025.
    Kind regards
    Olly

Happy New Year Steve, keep the videos going. Like all you teaching even though I got a bit mixed up with combining Eureka swing with the single plain, I’m no Mo Norman. Especially like your videos where you went out onto those fantastic courses on the east coast. Just you and the course. Until I win the lottery and can come for a one to one lesson keep going as your my only
hope of getting back to enjoying golf. And. Happy New Year to all your subscribers 🏌🏿‍♂️
