Tchaikovsky's Gift - The Nutcracker - Washington Ballet

The year is 1984. Mary Day is still at the helm of the Washington Ballet Company that she founded 8 years earlier but was an offshoot the Washington Ballet School she had co-founded in 1944. Capital Edition (WUSA TV-9) would air this report, produced by Raul Rivero, on Christmas eve, even as performances of The Nutcracker ballet continued at the Lisner Auditorium. FYI: Mary Day died in 2006. She was 96 years old. As of this writing (07/16/2022) the Washington Ballet is still going strong.
