The only reason he "went" with the starcaster was it's size. He still wanted to play Gibson. Gibson being dumb told him since he's not their artist anymore they don't have his signature blueprints and he'd have to put an order through their custom shop and wait over a year. He needed 16 for his upcoming tours. Aaron Rubin worked with Fender to put this together and they just showed Tom and he was like yeah I'll play it. As I was tuning it, tuner didn’t pick up the e string and snapped on my neck. Apparently my tuner battery died and the e string snapped on my hand. I felt so dumb but I’m glad I have this guitar. Exact color. So colorful and really good quality
I have a Indonesian Squier that I upgraded with Seymour Duncan pickups, Gotoh hardware and made in USA pots and electronics and its my favorite guitar. I also have a Fender made in Mexico, but it doesn't play as easy, its heavy, sharp frets. I dont know what it is, but the Squier just feels amazing
Now seeing it in not in stock images, I actually think the Surf Green looks sick! The only thing I think I'd change if I owned one is I'd swap the pick up ring with a white/cream one. Sounds great. Hope you're loving your new purchase! 😁

Building my own starcaster, bought a matte black body online and actually will be using a gibson dirty fingers pickup inside - the pickup in the signature model worried me a bit and i like the hotter pickups. Great to hear your thoughts and use it as a template for my build
I dialed this tone in super fast. Its basically what I use with my black jazz which has a p90 with a couple EQ tweaks. You could really make it sound a lot of different ways depending on your rig
I get the price point thing, but I think people are going to have to get over it at some point. That's just what guitars are going to cost now, for better or worse.
What's stopping me from getting this guitar is the price, but if i ever get the money to buy definitely getting the white or the pink one. I'm happy just to have his epi es333 signature.

I wouldn't call it a shit pickup. But if youre used to a super high output pickup like the dirty fingers, then yeah the custom is gonna sound a little weak in comparison
It would be nice to see how this guitar behaves with C# or C tunings, even with 0.9s you find it difficult. but if you like them, an ADTR cover would be nice. Anyway I love your sound!!!!

Something about it sounds fizzy. But that’s also how it has sounded live on tour. I’m sure you could get the tone dialed in to be more chunked.

C tuning would work fine with some heavier strings. Certainly not with 9s
