- So, you've got a whole load of pallet wood, but it's all warped. You could just burn it, or maybe turn it into a nice garden planter.

No such thing as scrap wood in your workshop, top job again.
Thanks :)
or scrap nails apparently. :)
@@robynw6307 I'm the same with nails lol not sure I've ever thrown any away lol
im pushing 56 and all i want to do now is is what your doing fantastic mate greets from australia
Perfect work - as always. I think the only way to destroy this is - to blow it up!
Absolutely top!
Even with crappy wood you still managed to make something beautiful and practical, finished project looks great!
thanks very much, David :)
@@EpicUpCycling I agree :)
since you have a lot of diffrent wood types and you can do anything from any wood, why not contacting StudPack channel ruclips.net/channel/UCjG94SagJZoyPggcBhUdFCA and going in league with them, they do alot of remodeling etc and they quite often have old wood to throw away. Maybe even you would go further and do some furniture for them and their clients?
just an idea ^^
Thanks for all the creative refueling. I may (make that probably) will never do any woodworking, but creativity feeds creativity, and there is no one more creative than you!
On behalf of those of us who spent too many hours in our gloriously mis-spent youth sitting far too close to banks of speakers at concerts, I implore you to protect your hearing.
Onward and upward!
Thanks very much, Sylvia :)

Thanks :)
Beautiful cotton candy colors
I thought, well, the idea is great. but when you were also using the rusty nails, I laughed out loud with respect. I'm excited to see what's next. 👏😉
More good work. I am sure the plants will be some think good to look at when taking a break.
This very impressive video. I wish I could do something like that. Wow!!!! I am blown away! Wow!
Thanks :)
What a sturdy wee thing, love the wood burning, I'm trying that out myself at the moment it's great fun.. I took the whole video seriously until the pot noodle container came out😂never did I see you as a pot noodle man😂 I got a chuckle at that.. Thanks for sharing.
Very useful pots. I have loads of them :)
Nice job as usual. Hadn’t realised how useful Pot Noodle juice was!
Thanks Paul :)
That’s it I’m hook now back to binge watching from the beginning😚❤️
I made a pallet planter this week. But I did not save the nails 😐. I used Screws. Now full of mother in laws tongue. I have a special tool box with all the necessary 'Tools' I use just for pulling apart pallets. Kept up in my wood store ready for the next job.
Not only did you reuse the wood but you reused the nails as well! That’s awesome. Thank you for sharing
Thanks :)
Another great project. And right down my alley with woodburning.
Thanks Jesper :)
Happy New Year. Upward and onward. Peace be yours.
Happy new year, Lisa :)
Very nice planter box 👏🏼
Thanks Kim :)
🙀🙈love the planter box looks fantastic 🤗🤗🤗 just a tip when reusing old nails I use a pair of plyers to hold the nail in the Center hole as it helps to keep the nail from bending too much 😹😹😹plus I got tired of hitting my fingers at times 😹😹😹😹😹😹😹😹with all the pallets I have I think I will make me a pair for when we build our new decking in a few months 😊😊
Thank you for sharing 🤗🤗🤗
Thanks Angela :)
Pot noodle preserver, best preserver
Again brilliant
Pot Noodle helps protect the wood 😮 Perhaps I should give it a go 😋 Nice work mate 👍
Thanks :)
Most of us would slap this together and it would look like a cheap pine packing crate. Jason creates a furniture quality work of art 👍🍻
Thanks Dunc :)
Wow beautiful 😀👏👏👏
Thanks :)
Now that it's out in the damp that wood will probably straighten out. :-) Nice project.
Thanks Eric :)
Another good job - thumbs up and thanks for posting.
Thanks :)
LOL the hard hat and face shield to pull nails. That's funny
A face shield is actually a good idea. I always wear goggles. Been whacked in the nose a few too many times,
@@apocalimp2401 I am glad we both absolutely love Epic UpCycling. Without turning this into a flame war, I have a question. How do you hit yourself in the face while pulling nails? I'm always scared I will damage the wood under my tool to use a lot of force. The proper technique is to pound the tip back until it is flush(ish) with the surface of the wood, then flip the board over and lever the now raised nailhead out with a claw hammer or crowbar. If you are working with finesse you can feel when the head is either rolling up or tearing, at which point you switch tools to a pair of channel locks, or drive the nail out with a punch.
@@brandontrueblood9798 Aha no worries certainly no need for an argument but I don’t really have time to do that, using your style. , I only use a claw hammer but with some of the pallets I get half the nails bend instantly so instead of toying with it for a couple minutes I just end up giving it a big yank. Yours is the proper way and probably wouldn’t recommend the way I do it but for speed it’s ideal for me
Masterful recycling of materials... kudos.
Thanks very much :)
Amazing to see what you can accomplish. you are a genius
Thanks Luigi :)
love this.
Another awesome project!!!!
Thanks :)
Sweet shirt!
Nice and wow......... 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks :)
Seriously Jason, you always ‘bring it’ even on small projects such as this. This is, as always, gorgeous. Shou sugi ban has become very popular here in the west but I can honestly say I’ve never seen a good example. You blow everyone out the water once again. I can’t believe how much I like this.
Also thanks for helping to reclaim the word ‘rustic’! Far too often it’s used as a euphemism for rubbish (family friendly word choice...) Seems some think if a bench plane even touches a component then it’s suddenly fine furniture... I’ve seen a couple of makers refer to a mistake as ‘rustic’ in a tongue-in-cheek manner so hopefully the word spreads.
I’m slightly surprised you have any warped wood. I think, in the back of my mind, I pictured you having a dedicated Wonka-esque area with steam all over the place, cylindrical kilns set up like chimneys going 24/7, a mini water mill set up on a wall etc. Seems wildly impractical but very visually appealing. Especially if you have a stack of warped timber on the left and a perfectly uniform stack on the right. That was a lot of waffle and that was the short version. Hope I’ve helped paint a picture anyway, haha.
Hope you’re well and I can’t wait to see what you have for us next.
Thanks Sam, love your comments as always :)
You’ve restored my faith , just found your Chanel and it’s looking just what I’m after
I’m in U.K.
Love it!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Just fantastic!!!
Thanks Samantha :)
perfect in in its imperfections
Thanks John :)
Excellent job!!!!

Excellent work as usual!
Thanks Terri :)
Good afternoon from SE Louisiana 20 Mar 21.
Hi Bill :)
Brilliant thanks for sharing your video 🐝happy
Thanks Anne :)
Looks great👍🏾💙
Thanks :)
I like your videos. Thank you
Thanks Marvin :)
Love your work you are top class
Thanks very much :)
Love the haircut. ❤️ I miss your blue sweater though. I have a little crush on you and raggedy sweater. My husband and I drop everything to watch your videos when they come out. He even puts down his phone! Your work is simply stunning. 😍
Thanks Crystal. Getting a bit warmer here so might not see the sweater again until next Winter :)
THANK !!! AWESOME !!!!
Love the look. Called “shou sugi ban”. Japanese style of burnt timber cladding. It’s totally resistant to rot. Great video Epic man!
Thanks Elizabeth :)
00:21 😂 Nice!
Wow, what a piece! You pulled out the really warped wood, and I was already intrigued. The finish and finishing really elevate this. It’s beautiful without being overdone. Great job! 👍
Thanks very much, Chris :)
Looks so great
Thanks :)
A wonderfully simple idea but you've really gone all out with the details!
Thanks :)
Absolutely gorgeous. I like that weathering is artificially made and it already looks authentic as if it stood there for at least 20 years. And of course plants! Who doesn't like plants :)
Thanks :)
That burnt "weathering" is to prevent rot and deter insects. It's a common practice in Asia and parts of Europe, I believe, but not necessarily here in the US.
I have see you in your videos always with a short pants, i go always with a T-Shirt and this in the Winter
just the video i needed to see... spring is coming got to get ready for them plants and veggies!! Good one, Jason!
Thanks Emmanuel :)
Man you realy drove in those rusty old nails.. i struggle with new ones😅
and again made a very beautyful planters box, great job
Thanks Walther :)
When I initially saw you pull out the boards with all the nails on them, I was hoping you'd show yourself pulling the nails out. My dad owned a house remodeling company. When I was younger I used to love to go through his scrap wood and hammer in nails just to take them out. I would spend HOURS doing this.
My carpentry self really appreciates the quality of the work desplayed, my gardening self loves how the flowers and herbs will looks in it , and my bushcraft self is like; that is some excellent fire starter for my ferro rod. 💖 Such a lovely build. Thanks again for your great work.
Thanks very much :)
@@EpicUpCycling You are most welcome. :)
great work, loved it
Thanks Ian :)
very nice idea! my old wooden bed is also in my garden for some flowers...
Thanks :)
Awesome planter. Not only recycled wood but nails too, I call that a win/win!
Thanks :)
Super 😉👍👍👍
Thanks :)
Great job and reuseing the nail was awsome i do the same no money spent is a good project. 😀
Thanks Marty :)
Major kudos for your re-use of the old nails!! Matches my own frugalness. Good show! Yet another fine video.
Thanks James :)
Howdy!! Great planter & good use of the shogi-ban burning technique!
Thanks Ken :)
Great use of otherwise useless warped wood! 👍🏽
Thanks Bill :)

My pleasure, mate.
I have made many planters over the years. None have looked as good as this one. Thank you for the video and the idea.
Thanks Neil :)
Que bonito le quedo, como siempre . un diez.
Thanks :)
You even got a spot for it.... awesome job... I can't say nothing else.....
Thanks :)
Very nice, gracias desde España.
Thanks Carlos :)
Это отличная идея!Теперь я знаю,что мой муж будет делать летом на даче😂👍
While I know I'll never have the skill you have or be able to create such beautiful works of art like you, you truly inspire me to start tackling my project list and develop a wee bit of skill of my own. Thank you ❣❣❣
You did it again !!! Another beautiful project. It is so wonderful how you use your energy to create beautiful works of art. We need more people like you in this world because so many choose to destroy. You are truly a genius in wood working. Thanks for sharing. Look forward to seeing another video. Wishing you well from Texas.👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Thanks very much, Christine :)
Absolutely stunning as always 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thanks Marie :)
I really don't like the look of burnt wood :) Thanks for your effort Sir.
Yet again, Jason, an amazing job using something that would have been destined for the woodstove. Nice job! 💜
And now that we cleared the area around the table saw, I know what I want to be my first project. Thanks for the idea! But I don't think I'll be doing the burning part... I think I'll just seal it. 😉
Thanks Tracey :)
I tried burning wood like that one time. My neighbor was pissed when he found out his house was on fire. Seriously, nice simple planter. And free, you can't beat that!
Thanks doug :)
That looks a treat. It would brighten up even the dullest of gardens. Wonderful work Jason 👍🏼👍🏼
Another beautiful transformation of a pile of (in most peoples eyes) crap. My dad used to make stuff from junk and in all honesty it still looked like junk when he'd finished. How do yo constantly keep making such good looking usable items from someone else's detritus? It's extremely inspirational!
Thanks Martin :)
Gorgeous! It’s a pure joy to watch you create!
Thanks :)
I never thought a piece of wood that bent would ever be useful. Beautiful job.
Thanks Pete :)
Feeling a bit wonky today Dr. Well just hold these plants, soon get you back in shape. 👏👏🥰
Loved how this turned out. Fantastic as usual. Nothing like protecting it with a pot noodle lol. Stay safe x
Thanks Jen :)
What a beautiful piece, makes me want to start an herb garden 🤗
good job
Thanks Darin :)
Awh that’s going to look amazing when the plants start growing very cool technique :) xx
Thanks Catherine :)
I like this project. I think I could do something like this. I really like that the wood is only burned on the edges. Very nice.
Thanks :)
What a great idea, I would so use this at my cottage. Love the rustic charm.
Thanks for the comments, Jessi :)
Lovely! Just in time for spring 😊
Thanks Tom :)
bravo et respect
Thanks :)
I hit the like button before I even started watching it. Another outstanding project.
Thanks :)
As always stunning. Your work could not fit into my garden should be in a million dollar mansion. Love love love your work. Thank you for my calm Easter Monday morning.🐰🐇🐰🐇🐰🐇🐰🐇
Thanks very much, Erika :)
hermoso, muy inspirador
Having made many planters I think the only flaw is in the placement of the wood bottom. The planks will last longer if they were set on top of the support board, not hung from underneath. All the weight of the dirt, plants, and water will be on the nails, which will eventually pull out. If they were on the support boards the weight will be distributed better. Other than that, it looks great
So pretty!
Thanks :)
So pretty. I wish I could things like that. I envy your talent. ☺️
Thanks Deborah :)
Haway! You can’t seal wood with a chicken and mushroom pot noodle, it’ll never last! 😂great build out of nothing 👏🏻👍🏻🇬🇧
Chicken and mushroom works great, it's the beef and tomato that causes problems :)
Your work is incredible! Have you ever considered doing a rundown of the tools you use? Seems like you have a lot of unique stuff in your shop!
Thanks Alexander. Yes, I might do a workshop tour at some point :)
It is challenging and fun re using the old nails huh? Nice job.
Thanks Terry :)
That came out so super cool!
Thanks Alexis :)
