Would be super cool to see a list of all japanese only RPG on the ps1, maybe you could even highlight those that have a fan translation
New Age of Llylgamyn (Wizardry V) is in my top five rpgs ever. It has english options in the settings, perfectly playable.
I will always love turn-based RPGs even if they one day go out of style... My favorite genre.

So many great games on this list!! The 90s were the Golden Age of gaming! Even though I never finished and it doesn't seem the same caliber as many others, I was somehow satisfied to see Jade Cocoon on the list, since it was missing from the Tier video. :)
Legend of dragoon, Chrono Cross, Final fantasy 7, Final fantasy 9, Xenogears. These are my ps1 favorite games.
This list is SO GOOD. I can't wait for the SNES and PS2 lists!

The 90s were the golden era of gaming, and no one can change my mind! Even though we've had some fantastic games the last few years and may be entering a new golden age, the sheer volume AND quality can't compare.

Amazing list. I may have adjusted to modern day gaming but turnbased Jrpg will always have a soft spot in my heart
Golden era of RPG
With all of the games I had bought back when the PS1 was current, combined with the games that this channel convinced me to buy, it took me until 5:17 to see a game that I don't have sitting on my shelf.
In fact, the only games on this list that I don't own are the Digimon, Saga Frontier, and Valkyrie Profile games.

Koudelka battle music is dope and voice acting too
I played the older systems and enjoyed them greatly, but the ps1 was the one that really captured my attention. The demo disc was what started my love for gaming such as Tomb Raider and Final Fantasy 7. From there I just went with my gut and bought games from the same developer or had a really interesting storyline. My biggest regret was not grabbing certain games while they were still being sold at stores. Of course, I was very young and only had so much money. Thankfully, I managed to buy majority of the older games I wanted. Only a handful escaped me but that's okay, I got most and it will keep.
I think I only didn't play Beyond the Beyond. Great list. Looking forward for the PS2 version. I think I miss quite a lot on PS2.

I'm here because all of the new Final fantasy games seem to be hack and slash and I just want my classic RPG's back lol.

What happened to the audio? A lot (maybe all, but i'm not sure) of the themes don't sound like they should, they either sound too slow or too high-pitched.
Ps1 is a goldmine for JRPGs

I still need to play Jade Cocoon. And also Guardian's Crusade, but I highly doubt it's very good. BTW, how good is Tear Ring Saga?

Its not a Japanese game, but I implore everyone to play Shadow Madness. Its a fantastic RPG.

Unfortunately it's an incomplete list, "Rhapsody: a Musical Adventure" is missing.
Isn't the combat more strategic than turn-based, if I remember right?
@@theflyingninja1 Battles do take place in a small grid-based field, but the same goes for Koudelka, and since it got in Rhapsody should also be in.
@@Ragefat Well, if @Erick Landon RPG makes a PS1 Tactical RPG list and includes Rhapsody, I'd be okay with that.
I honestly find odd that koudelka is here since for me it's more of an sRPG and i'm pretty certain Erick has put Rhapsody in sRPGs lists before
Rhapsody is strategy based, as well as Koudelka. I think Eric messed up including Koudelka.

You should make an Xbox 360 list of all jrpgs.
Koudelka is a srpg using a grid or tile system while in battle. Adding this to your list would open it up to also including a whole other jaundra of games.
just because ff series had turns, doesn't make it a turn based rpg, it supposedly used for games like ff tactic, this landon guy is just stupid

Curiosity. I've never played it but I always thought shadow Madness was a turn based RPG too. Albiet it was made by western devs so I understand not adding it.
It is and it's a pretty good game too if you take it like some kind of visual novel (battle system isn't very good). It should have been on this list imo.
Let's vote for a remake of legend of dragoon...needs to happen.

You should do a list of the real time rpg games on psx. Like Diablo, since there aren't very many lol.

Persona 2: Eternal Punishment and Innocent Sin did not come out in North America on Play Station, they came out on PSP 12 years later. The FF4 that showed the video is the GBA version, the one that came out on PS1 is the superfamicom version.
And now in 2020 most of jrpg is equal to high budget porn game.

I STRONGLY disagree. In fact, the whole "didn't age well" thing never made any sense to me. I replay a LOT of older games, and the only time I ever had my opinion of a game drastically change is Final Fantasy Tactics (which I realized was good for the story and music, but not for the gameplay).
