For the M5atom use tinypico idf4 micropython and set esptool baud to 115200.
In Linux open a terimal while in the Downloads folder to run sudo esptool as described in the video, without copying to the esptool folder. You pip install esptool.

Hello, in this video you're installing the "original" micropython, but on github I see that m5stack-python uses the Loboris-Fork (with many additional modules for hardware). Which is the correct/preferred one?

The loboris-fork has not seen any updates in a few years, if you wish to have bluetooth functionality and other newer features it's best to use standard micropython

it doesnt work. It flashes everything fine, but when putty-in, it get stuck on "cpu_start: Pro cpu up.". After i've restarted (power down and then power up), nothing... Absolutely nothing.

I have just tested mine with uPyCraft and it works well, appears to be more convinient if you don't want to enter initial code all the time.
