Topic Proposal: Race readiness indicators. How do I know that I am ready for a race? Any key workouts that can predict a race outcome? I am especially interested in ultras such as knowing I am ready for a 50 miler or 100K? I am planning my first 100-miler next year. Please cover all distances, not just ultras. Also, as part of that topic, what A-B-C goals should one set?
Great topic! I have a 10K coming up before a half marathon and plan to run the 10K in place of a speed workout. I’m doing well with your not so beginner half marathon plan. I’m 6 weeks into it and feeling stronger with my runnning!
Hey sage! So glad to see you doing well, I grabbed the 16-20 week marathon beginner plan (nyc will be my first in November), I usually run 5-6 days a week (relatively short distances), but I notice your plan is 3-5 days mostly, is cross training implied on off days from running?
Great topic! I have a goal marathon in October this year (going for sub 3!) and booked a half 3 weeks out. Would have preferred a little more gap, but race availability being what it is, I'm pretty happy with that. Also thinking of a 10k maybe few weeks before that as well. Was thinking hard about this recently so really timely video, thanks!
I ran my first sub 3 a few years ago and had an all out HM two weeks before it. The half definitely helped me run a sub 3, since compared to my pace there (1:24:30), the marathon seemed almost like a jog.
Question for next week : What does a training schedule look like for a big mountain race like speedgoat 50k or pikes peak or ring of steel. I.E vert vs flat mileage. How often training at higher altitude and at lower elevations. Thanks
And if you can tell us when you do your long on the weekend does it matter if your 2nd long run is the day before or day after for running on tired legs?
Was thinking about this! I have a HM (first for the year) on the 18th of this month (11days time) was thinking of doing a 10km race this Sunday as a tuneup, then start my taper?..
Just commenting on a post below about strength training; really interested in the topic of scheduling in strength training sessions while following a running training plan, in general... is it OK to do sessions on running days?... how much is too much?... would weights too heavy be detrimental to running development? Thank you.
I know I’m not sage. But I am a runner snd strength lifter. For my it is not to much to lift 6x a week. But I consider my self to be a fast recoverer. If you want to lift and run just make sure your getting enough sleep, have a good diet, stretching and foam rolling after runs, etc. and make sure to run before you lift, unless you prioritize lifting over running
What if you don't have a target A race for the fall, more of a series of B races? From September to to November i am doing 10Ks and 15Ks. Don't have all the races exactly planned out yet, but one 10 M, one to three 15 k, and one 10k. No Half Marathon this fall for me, what to do at least one of the hot chocolate 15Ks this fall.
This is tough ive hit rock bottom am sorry this comment is completely unrelated to this video but my health is jsut going downhill from what i suspect severe overtraining i had a rehab of 6monthd came back ran 5km in 35mins dropped dead and im in the same hell please any advice
Question: How to periodize strength training in sync with a 16-20 week half/ marathon training plan.
I've been following the channel for 2 years now and you consistently upload awesome content! Thanks Sage!
Question for the next training talk: How does intermittent fasting affect runners? Is it smart? How would it affect runners over different distances?
Great talk as always!

Those lungs in the background are cute!
Ya where do I buy those?! My friend has chronic pulmonary embolisms and she would love those

Ttt Question: What should runners be looking for when looking at video of their own running technique?

Stop running and see a doctor. Humility is a virtue
