. . . Country : France
Enjoyable to watch how every car is totally unique. Not like random Cars&Coffee where is atleast 5 exactly the same looking Mustangs and 16 red hellcats
Nice video! Rats are rad. Here is a neat idea? Put a go pro on a r/c car and drive it towards/under/around the rats driving down the street. (You need r/c so you can scoot out of the way of the low-riders.)
@V8Deuce actually Id only be enlightening you because nobody else is asking . But, are you referring to the old Hot Rod Magazine editors explanation? Or the actual roots where the post WWll era soldiers were using surplus parts to build their hot rods? Or do we want to talk about how over the years rat rods have been influenced by several subcultures?
@V8Deuce Assuming you mean who coined the phrase "rat rod"... there's actually a debate on that. Some would say Anthony Casteneda (Shifters CC), during an interview with Rod & Custom Mag. Others would say Gary Baskerville, then editor of Hot Rod Magazine. Oh... and Im guessing "the movement" you speak of was started by Jake Jacob's. I believe it was called the Jakelopy. I think is was a 28 Ford body but I could be off there.
I'd love to do this power tour. I love my rat rods, and vintage hot-rods. One thing I just don't get though, is these static tire burn offs. It's not like they're heating up the tires to do a drag launch, which makes sense, and it's not like they're doing this by using the brakes. They're just blocking the front end. Big deal. It doesn't prove how well the engine is built or how much power it has. It's hard on the vehicle's running gear, and of course it kills the tires. Whadda waste! I can't stand to see cool old iron going to waste, which is why I love recycling and why I love rat rods.
We had a great time on this tour can’t wait to do another tour!!!

I wonder if Rat Rod magazine knows the original of the phrase, and what real Rat Rods looked like in the early 1990s ....
Absolutely we do! But if you ask 10 people what a real rat rod is, you're going to get 10 different answers my friend
