- Plectrums are so much more than just something to hold and hit the string with. The humble Pick has a lot of tone in it.

The 2.5mm Badazz III is my fav pick, chicken picks rule!
I have a few chicken picks, they are on the thicker side, but well worth the money, I've been using one for about a year and it's great!
I use a Gravity Razer 2mm for all my guitars for Country, Blues, Rock, Pop, and everything else with P90s in a Les Paul and the Standard Stratocaster and Telecaster, and Acoustic
Where are your subscribers man? You're awesome!
I absolutely love your videos! I'm a beginner player and watching you play kind of inspire me to keep practicing! Keep up the good work!!
+Ben Choinski Aw cheers Ben, keep it up.
10K Mikeeeee!! Cheers Mate! Love your videos!
+Nilav Maulik Thanks Nilav!
Have the 2,7 picks. Love them the best. After 40 years of playing!
I never really noticed how much the pick could actually influence the tone. I'm surprised. Chicken Picks look awesome as well. Great, informative video!
+Fábio Teixeira Cheers Fabio.
Googled Jazz III and found some info from Jimdunlop:
- Jazz III Sharp-1.38 mm
I personally love the small Jazz III
Would like to get a pic made of stone. Can't find any here in Finland :/
Yay for Jazz III's. The king of picks.
Really noticed it when you started doing chords.
I discovered Dunlop Big Stubby 3mm and I love them!
I love Gravity Picks. They are totally worth the money because you can play the hell out of one for months before it needs replacing. Like Mike said about the Dunlops, you may be able to get them for 50 cents a piece online, but you could easily go through 15 bucks of them in one month if you play a lot. A 6 dollar Gravity Pick will last for months, like I said, plus I love the way they feel and play.
+Chord TheSeeker I'll have to check one out.
just discovered your channel... very impressed with your skills man... fantastic work
+asaintuntilidie Cheers buddy!
+Mike Bradley and if you feel like doing a Jimmy Page lesson....
The purple ones you have mike i have the blue ones with the chroc on the front 1.14mm and there amazing but they wear down! so so amoying!!
+Jordan Hooper I know, especially if your a hard hitter.
Hi Mike- have you ever tried V-picks or Gravity picks? They have tons of tone in them and they are made with a special plastic which stick to your fingers preventing the dreaded condition of "pick dropping" while playing. Thanks for this video mate and I'll check out the Chicken picks.
+midrider335 I haven't tried either of them I'm afraid, I'll have to sort this out.
Hey Mike, congrats for the 10k subs! just thought I'd give you a couple of ideas you might wanna consider for your next videos.. ;)
So I'd love to know about your favorite guitar players.. this also includes players from styles you might not play.. this.. and YOUR TAKE ON MUSIC THEORY, both as a guitar player and as a musician.. that would also be a great one.
Keep up the good work my friend! Cheers.
+Maxi 88 Thanks Maxi! I'm very chuffed about it!.. I will have to do a video to celebrate it when I'm back. Also great questions!
You missed quite a big one. Someone else did a video on picks and he used a HUGE pick. It was like a rock but the sound was absolutely incredible. You couldn't hear any of the flapping like other picks.
Yeah man, Chickenpicks are the bomb! I cannot use another pick now, I've been using the 3.5mm Shredder for ages, but I got the 2.5mm Badazz III the other day and I'm smitten! Haha
Great video, Mike! 😂
+bentertainment115 Cheers buddy!
COUPONS RULE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!lol
From my experience, hard/thick picks behave more or less like active pickups. They improve the attack but compress the dynamics of your picking.
Also, I've heard the chickenpicks in other guitar channels as well and they sound way too scratchy for my taste.
Has you ever tried gravity picks?
+matt1232l I havent, lots of people have mentioned them here now.
Demais!
i like a .40mm pick
have you tried thicker? lol trying tremolo pick when i only have thin picks is awful
Chicken Picks tweeted me a couple of years ago with a deal on their sample pack. I tried them out and now use the 3.5mm all the time. 'Regular' picks now feel weird to me
+StueyDoo Nice one Stuey!
Have you ever tried dava picks? ever since i first tried one i dont want to use anything else
Dava picks are really good!
Same here, great shout...
+MrGeary08 I tried them, but didn't like them at all. The pointy bottom is attached to a floppy, rubber top which ruins the whole thing for me.
+MrGeary08 I think I have years ago, there seems to be a lot of love for them in the comments.
+Chord TheSeeker I know the ones you're on about, lots of black rubber with a red tip.... Not those ones, the Jazz grip picks made of delrin.
just swipe your picks on your pants or a towel, pretty much any fabric. couple of swipes and there pretty much new again.
+fflxmonkeyboy Oh yeah, forgot about that! lol
Somehow... the Chicken Pick sounds somewhat sharper than your old picks.
I really dislike the sun pick though... sounds thin (which normally I like) and a bit sharp.
It's odd that the really thick Chicken Pick sounds clearer/treblier (is that how you write it?) 'cuz from my own experience, the thicker the pick the darker the sound and higher the output.
I think I should give thick picks a second chance now...
Up to know I've been stickin' by sinple Fender medium picks... (which feel great)
i thought the purple sounded warmer
Well done 10000
+ozzy farrow Thanks Ozzy!
Try Blue Chip picks. They never wear and sound great!!!
Do you actually have recommendations for someone who likes playing with - not the long side of the pick - but one of the two short sides of a regular pick? Sounds kinda dark but plays really nice :(
+Bacon Muffin I don't really do it, I have a friend of mine who plays like that. If it works for you, it's the right way for you.
Mike Bradley I don't know somehow it feels nicer to me, it's probably because that way I have the max amount of pick in my hand, whilst also being as close as possible to the strings.
Do you know good picks for that kind of playing though?
I found a pick I used at my mums the other day I made it out of an acsess credit card
hi man what part of england do you live in if you dont mind me asking
+rdjan K. Surrey.
Why won't you sell your own Mike Bradley picks?
That's a very good question.. maybe I should
you seem to be obsessed with your SG!
+John Doe I don't own a SG haha
+Mike Bradley I meant ES! 😂
haha
I use Dunlop Jazz III
In fact, I bought them because Bonamassa uses them but men, I'm loving them. For bass I play the yellow tortex
surfing youtube. all the hate,
thank you for the light hearted laugh
:) your welcome buddy
