  • I'd like to create a Japanese garden around a pond with lanterns, a stone bridge, and mini-bonsai trees.

    【Japanese garden 45×30×23】
    Using foam boards, I've compartmentalized the tank into areas for fish to swim and plant life to grow.
    With a pump circulating the water constantly, bacteria would be prevented from settling in the filters and plant life would purify the water.

    I was taught to pass the torch lightly over the wood, sand it, and then do a second pass with the torch (again lightly), and sand again. The real art is in the sanding. You don’t want the darkness of the wood to be all the same. The goal is to have gradations so that it looks more natural and the grain of the wood is highlighted.
    Torching the wood is to make it more rot-proof, waterproof, and harder.

    This is very well made BUT im concerned about the fish, the pond is far too small for them all and almost no light gets past the floating plants :/

    • @q.a.terrace
      @q.a.terrace 5 лет назад +81

      yeah, i had the same concern. it's too bad how people keep goldfish in inappropriate conditions. maybe they were only in there for the shot?

    • @PancakeMilly
      @PancakeMilly 5 лет назад +62

      Absolutely awful, all the fish are 100% going to die if kept in there. Why do people not care about animal abuse when it's fish? They are going to suffocate due to the bio-load alone. The ammonia is going to burn and suffocate them. This zen garden would have been fine without the fish.

    • @KatieMurphyMeadows
      @KatieMurphyMeadows 5 лет назад +57

      I had the same thought but I think he keeps those fish in other aquariums, he just used them for this footage

    • @bilaliz
      @bilaliz 5 лет назад +21

      Yes the space is too small physically for the fish but the ammonia concern is invalid, the surface plants are more than enough to consume the ammonia, it's called aquaponics, look it up.

      Well the Chinese juniper he put in there can't survive indoors, and I don't imagine from the looks of it he's planning on keeping it outside, so it's only temporary. Kind of a waste of money and plant life in my opinion.
