Hi I’m listening to this album because it was recommended to me by a total stranger. I am so glad that I listened to their word and checked out this album. They recommended this to me while I was really upset and it really helped. I started crying during this song and I’m just feeling so much better than earlier. I don't know why people don't like this album as much- I literally can't stop listening to it. My dad listens on loop in work and I listen on loop at home studying. I pick him up from work with the album on in the car- yesterday we were texting through song references when I told him to slow down at work because it's Monday lmao
The album is okay, but like, in comparison to Trench it is a bit underwhelming. This albums seems so monotone to me and not special at all, which is maybe something they aimed at doing. However, that just ain't my thing, and that's why I don't like it so much. Maybe it is the same for other people.

Scaled and Icy ("scaled back and isolated") is a masterpiece (as was Trench) and woe to those unable to grasp how brilliant, deep and aware this duo is and just how profound this new album is. I am not a teen, I'm well into my 50's, I'm also a musician, songwriter, promoter, etc and rock music is in my DNA. Rarely do I heap such praise upon artists but despite the heat I and others take for going out of our way to do so, I felt the need to do so here yet again. The Beatles were once a small band with a cult following. They were also presented as a boy band upon their arrival to America. They had millions of fans that just went ape sh*t crazy for them. Parents were clueless, the industry said they were a fad, and fans didn't care as long as the fab four shook their heads and kept the image they (the fans) had fallen in love with. But The Beatles had by that time, not only changed their looks (from leather jackets to suits and styled hair) but also their sound (rawer bluesy rockers to Top 40 pop classics) - The Beatles were always a work in progress and most fans got that and embraced them as they both grew and evolved. But some fans HATED the changes as The Beatles became more acoustic, psychedelic and experimental. Some bands are fine finding the groove and image that makes em the most money and pleases the fans. Nothing wrong with that at all - but for those more interested in creating, exploring and expanding upon themes already in the mix, the journey will be well worth the price of admission and the bond between artist and audience much more intense. To those complaining this doesn't sound like TOP? Listen again. Give it another shot with an open mind. Others - you already know how great this is and know to expect even more surprises from the next album etc. Thank you Tyler and Josh for your brilliance, your hearts, your minds, your ability to reach all ages and haven't sold out to the machine you so wonderfully trash on this album. Pay no attention at all to those who don't get it. Way more do and even us old farts await your next move. PS: yeah, yeah - the title of the album which many claim is an anagram for "clancey is dead" (and it may well be) makes far more sense as "scaled back and isolated" (a line repeated twice in the song "Redecorate") as this is indeed a bit scaled back and was recorded in the pandemic lockdowns of 2019-2020. Scaled back and isolated enough to not even garner the band's name on the cover but a symbol of a weapon (sai) - or is that a trident.. Neptune...haha... enjoy the rabbit holes.
This song gets me that although I always feel bored and find it hard to keep my eyes open as I often find myself as an outsider, there is still so much going around which is pretty far from boring.

It’s funny because some bands just have a cult following that will listen to the music regardless how shitty it is or how good it is. But with twenty one pilots fans, it’s such a treat because not only are we a cliQue, but our favorite band actually continues to renovate their sound and evolve and give us ridiculously quality projects. I love us.

The album is okay, but like, in comparison to Trench it is a bit underwhelming. This albums seems so monotone to me and not special at all, which is maybe something they aimed at doing. However, that just ain't my thing, and that's why I don't like it so much. Maybe it is the same for other people.

Todos sabemos que Josh toca la bateria pero enserio es algo difícil que todas sus canciones la tengan. Los chicos hacen un gran trabajo, Tyler con su voz y Josh con el gran amor por su instrumento.
Scaled and Icy ("scaled back and isolated") is a masterpiece (as was Trench) and woe to those unable to grasp how brilliant, deep and aware this duo is and just how profound this new album is.
I am not a teen, I'm well into my 50's, I'm also a musician, songwriter, promoter, etc and rock music is in my DNA. Rarely do I heap such praise upon artists but despite the heat I and others take for going out of our way to do so, I felt the need to do so here yet again.
The Beatles were once a small band with a cult following. They were also presented as a boy band upon their arrival to America. They had millions of fans that just went ape sh*t crazy for them. Parents were clueless, the industry said they were a fad, and fans didn't care as long as the fab four shook their heads and kept the image they (the fans) had fallen in love with.
But The Beatles had by that time, not only changed their looks (from leather jackets to suits and styled hair) but also their sound (rawer bluesy rockers to Top 40 pop classics) - The Beatles were always a work in progress and most fans got that and embraced them as they both grew and evolved.
But some fans HATED the changes as The Beatles became more acoustic, psychedelic and experimental.
Some bands are fine finding the groove and image that makes em the most money and pleases the fans. Nothing wrong with that at all - but for those more interested in creating, exploring and expanding upon themes already in the mix, the journey will be well worth the price of admission and the bond between artist and audience much more intense.
To those complaining this doesn't sound like TOP? Listen again. Give it another shot with an open mind.
Others - you already know how great this is and know to expect even more surprises from the next album etc.
Thank you Tyler and Josh for your brilliance, your hearts, your minds, your ability to reach all ages and haven't sold out to the machine you so wonderfully trash on this album.
Pay no attention at all to those who don't get it. Way more do and even us old farts await your next move.
PS: yeah, yeah - the title of the album which many claim is an anagram for "clancey is dead" (and it may well be) makes far more sense as "scaled back and isolated" (a line repeated twice in the song "Redecorate") as this is indeed a bit scaled back and was recorded in the pandemic lockdowns of 2019-2020.
Scaled back and isolated enough to not even garner the band's name on the cover but a symbol of a weapon (sai) - or is that a trident.. Neptune...haha... enjoy the rabbit holes.
