The man in the centre of the frame is the Bey of Tunis, Muhammad IV al-Hadi, we see him descending the steps of the Bardo Palace together with his entourage. Alexandre Promio filmed the scene on 27 April 1903.
Muhammad El Hadi Bey had ascended the Tunisian throne after the death of his father Ali III Bey on 11 June 1902 and ruled the country until his death in 1906.
He was born in the Bardo Palace, at the time the residence of the Bey, and today the seat of the Tunisian Parliament and the National Museum.
