What a PRIVILEGE to perform with this legendary classic....Notice how QUIET the audience is during the entire performance....All of you did a wonderful job here! What a legend!
I met Ray in a used record shop in Oklahoma City in the 80's - he was traveling through town and stopped to buy a few of his old records for friends and family. I was fortunate to get his autograph on a 45 rpm single - though we only spoke for a few minutes I could tell that Ray was down to earth and a great guy!
This is a hard song for me sometimes. In 1996 on Valentine's Day, I lost my fiance (Laura) to A drunk driver. This was just days before our wedding day. Laura sweetheart I miss you still today. Laura I love you, Laura I need you. Laura sorry so much I have cried, Laura baby my love for you will never die.
I understand you and know that feeling all too well. I was a race car driver at the time my Laura was killed. My first race back, I almost burnt alive in a wreck similar to that.
Ray came to my church in the late 90s and sang this song for us - I had never heard of him before and he was not in good health but he did a great job..
when i heard this when i was younger it always gets into my nerves and as time goes by when i hear it, it always leave tears in my eyes... :( great song and great singer...
I had no info on him... so sad to hear he passed away, but he had a magnificent voice even at his age in this video...am sure he had a good and happy life...my favorite, I still have his LPs...RIP, Ray, you left us all lovely songs...
This is a song of my father to my mom. Apparently , he died and my mom cried . Everytime she heard this song, she cried since his name is Tommy. The love of my father to my mom will never die.
Merci Merci rasc1944 ! ! Encore Merci.
Great, Great song. I'm only 20 year-old, and the song was created way before I was, but I just adote both this song and the singer who can sing it in such a way that you can hear sadness in his voice.
Hey Ray, I remember the gas station I heard this song for probably the 40th time back in the 60's and I loved your song then, love it now -bless you, Man!
Ray Peterson is without doubt one of the greatest voices of his era. His brilliant range and vocal delivery were perfect for songs of this genre. Tell Laura i love her is a brilliant song, but it does not stop there, the original wonder of you ( no doubt listened to by Elvis prior to his recording ) and the beautiful goodnight my love or Answer me. Ray's voice is full of emotion and drama. Great!!!
I heard it for a first time in my life 10 minutes ago, and i feel swiftly transported to those special times. Travel to the past, even a past that you never lived, in a place that you never visited, is a huge and indescriptible pleasure. My greetings to those people that feel nostalgia for this song. From Uruguay (no, you're not gay, it's a country)
@sing2unify If you are the late Ray Peterson's daughter, thank you so much for sharing him with us!!! I really loved him as an entertainer and a gentleman !!!!! I was fortunate enough to meet him a long time ago when he came to Michigan!!!! I wish I could have been at this his last performance!! WHAT A MAN!!!!!
I remember listening to this as a little girl--probably around three or four years old. I never knew the name of the singer until now--he sounds quite different in this clip then the song I remember. I guess that's just the effects of aging. Thanks for posting this.
I used to listen to this when i was a 6 or so year old kid, i played it that much my next door neighbour ended up calling her new born Laura, such an emotional song and a welcome memory.
TenStarsplus !!!! RIP Ray thank you for posting this I heard was his last performance! He probably was already terminal but didn't want to let his fans down!!!! What a MAN !!!! And to his family thank you for sharing him with us !!!!!
You just don't hear songs like this anymore, teen tragedies or instrumentals either. This is such a beautiful song, even though sad. It's hard to believe it was once banned when you listen to some of the trash they play on the radio now. I was born in the 70s but I grew up with this music. My mother had the biggest collection of 45s this side of the Mississippi. I miss the innocence of that time and the music.
RIP - never heard of his passing, one of my favorites...as a kid in Aruba it was the first song I ever sang at a concert evening at the YMCA....great, lasting memories...!
My mom used to listen to this song as long with The Platters's Only You every sunday afternoon and i always loved them songs even if i did not quite understand then how strong and sad they were at least tell laura is!!!
@kennbix I came here to listen to a great song and remember watching Ray live sharing the same stage with Freddie "Boom Boom" Cannon, and another teen idol of the time who I cannot at the moment remember. It saddens me to discover via your message that Ray has passed on. I never heard the news until now. He was a gentleman then and I'm sure a gentleman to the end. I feel fortunate to have shared a moment in time with him. It's Thanksgiving tonight but suddenly I feel sad. Rolland B. Heiss
My Hero. I love this song. I only wish I'd met a girl called Laura!. I remember my dad driving us from Glasgow to Scarborough in the mid 70's listening to a triple album called something like 50s Rock and Roll Rules OK and this was my favourite song. Or was it Cortina Cortina...
Ray was the 'golden voice' of rock and roll. A dear friend for over 40 years. I believe this recording was part of the National Publc Television "At The Drive-in." Filmed in Austin, TX. 4 and a half octave range....Ray came from an era when you have to have actual 'talent' to get a recording contract. Now, it's all about marketing and sex appeal with an occasional 'real talent' managing to slip through the cracks. RIP Ray.
I'm the fat guitarist on the right. A highlight of my playing time. Ray was a gentleman and a all around nice guy. This video was in the year 2000.
Hey hello to you man! Dude you did a great job!! Are u still playing?? I’ve always loved this song,.
Playing wineries in the Santa Ynez Valley.
How neat, thanks for the date. I always wonder. Love how his voice stayed with him.
Dude ! that is seriously cool.

A beautiful ballad from the late Ray Peterson; taking me back to my childhood in the early 60's.
This brings back so many great memories... it's wonderful to see that some of my old idols could sing all these years later.... RIP my old friend...
Our Ray Paterson it is still fresh on my mind when i first heard his song in 1960 i was 8 year old
I was 10.
Amazing performance. He's godlike in this clip as well as he was in the studio recording this song. What a talent and the voice. Unbelievable.
We saw Ray on an Oldies Cruise shortly before he passed away, what a showman. Fantastic perfromance!
He still had it, what an amazing voice.

My deep sympathy for you. True love will never die
Wahyudi Gunawan Thank you very much. It was 19 years ago Valentine's Day I still love My Laura and miss her.
I have too
I understand you and know that feeling all too well. I was a race car driver at the time my Laura was killed. My first race back, I almost burnt alive in a wreck similar to that.
Charles Bullock II You made me cry!!
Sang this song all of the time when I was a kid. Ray Peterson is amazing!

bernard djemaï A l'automne de la vie, certaines chansons sont très émouvantes. Pleurer prouve simplement qu'on vit intensément ses sentiments.

I played a round of golf with this man, a great person, he cared about us. Despite his handicap he lived his life and was an entertainer.
