The Best of Times: Princess Rescue & Fighting Renault (Unicorn Overlord, PS5)

I decide to send my main battle force north to Grupont to link up with the new Radiant Knight and her small team. I make a critical error in understanding the terrain, failing to realize that the river that runs north-south cuts them off from turning the corner and proceeding east. I had planned on hitting Renault's command post on both the left flank and from the South at the same time.
This Southern strike would have come from the two faster cavalry units I had sent to the east, assaulting a smaller encampment and then north. With the western force needing to re-route, I had to use my cavalry units to make a desperate feint at the main encampment, hoping the enemy bit on it, and then skirmish to the eastern border to capture the battering ram.
While I was not able to marshal and amass a larger force for the Southern strike (my hand was being forced by troops sortieing out of the main encampment), the Radiant Knight and her team, travelling on winged and ground mounts, were able to cross the river, push a skirmish from the flank, and rendezvous for the final push.
Disaster averted.
