- From Kaidomachi to post-war factory district of the Showa era/Buramanbo Oizumi Town2 (Gunma Prefecture)
Oizumi Town in Gunma Prefecture is the southernmost and smallest town in Gunma Prefecture. In 1957, Koizumi Town and Okawa Village merged to form Oizumi Town. In the Kanto Plain, it was a farming village on the left bank of the Tone River, and nothing more than a small town was formed along the former Ojima route (the center of the former Koizumi town) from Tatebayashi to Isesaki. The first turning point was the opening of the Nakajima Aircraft Koizumi Factory in 1930 (Showa 15) before World War II and the opening of the Ota-Koizumi Airfield in 1931 (Showa 16). In 1945 (Showa 20), after the end of the war, the facilities of the former Nakajima Airplane were requisitioned by the US military and turned into Camp Dollar, and Oizumi Town became a town with a US military base. After the land of former Nakajima Aircraft Koizumi Factory was returned in 1859 (Showa 34), it became Sanyo Electric's factory (now Panasonic Tokyo Factory). On the other hand, the former Nakajima Aircraft Ota Airfield became a factory of Fuji Heavy Industries (now SUBARU Gunma Manufacturing Oizumi Factory) after it was returned in 1969. Oizumi town developed mainly as a temple town for two factories from the high economic growth period to the bubble period.
The townscape that can be seen today is characterized by a group of buildings from the high economic growth period and a foreign shopping street where foreigners, including Brazilians, immigrated after the bubble period. Nearly 20% of the residents of Oizumi are foreigners, and there are over 40 nationalities, making Oizumi one of the most international cities in Japan. Currently, tourism is being promoted with a foreigner town, making it unique even in Japan.
Part 2 is about the road town before the war and the high economic growth period after the war, from the center of the former Koizumi town to the area where the market for Brazilians is concentrated along the former Ojima route and the former national highway No. 354, which is the east-west urban axis. We will parade while chasing the remnants.

A very unusual city. Thanks! 🙂
Thank you for always commenting 😊
That stone wall at 7:41 looks different to usual - nice tile roof on the house behind the wall! Surprised to see that Toyota at 12:06! Interesting video 👍😊
Thank you for always commenting 😊 Sometimes I encounter such a big stone wall. That's right, the ramming car is a Toyota!
