way cool!! I love estate sales and flea markets, I have found so real interesting stuff over the time i have been collecting. This video makes me want to keep looking! Thanks for the upload.
Dang. Freakin awesome find on platter. I won a box of old stuff one time at an auction. This was a very long time ago before I knew anything about Silver, the box contained two old platters, butter dish, 6 or 7 forks and spoons and two large dipping spoons. I held on to this stuff for 10 years or so and ended up putting it out in a Garage Sale for a only couple bucks on each piece. Well THANK GOODNESS none of the pieces sold. Later on after the sale one of my neighbors was at my house in the garage and seen the Silver items I had in a box, he informed me that EVERYTHING THAT I HAD WAS .925 STERLING SILVER!! I almost freaked out not knowing I had a future all these years. He said he could take it somewhere and get a little under spot price for all of it. I agreed to give him 25% for a finders fee. I ended up making $2800 and I gave him $800 for catching it for me, plus I had a giant cookout for our other neighbors.
There was a guy that paid 500$ for a lot of coins and there were 2 2.50 gold pieces and lots of large cents, old silver, and rolls of silver and it was all worth over 6500$!
Nice finds. I especially like the coins, and that awesome plate. The plate is just beautiful, and a wonderful peice to have as an antique. The value of it is incredible--congrats on that. A bit off topic, but is that a netbook you have on the table behind everything?
The tray: A company that only makes sterling silver STILL makes most of large serving utensils/trays/pots/dishware in silver plated copper but it is possible and more than likely in your case that the edgework on the tray is sterling. I dont want to be the ants at your picnic but I have bought a few of those type items myself (especially at the start) and thought I was RICH BYATCH! Disappointed to find out that I wasnt gonna pop any corks but happy to find out they were still copper.Good work
Cont'd: If they say they saw you digging, just say ya found bottle caps/pull tabs. If the hood(s) get too nosier, move out and come back later w/reinforcements. I get permission about 1/2 the time. Most go back in house and leave you alone. Never offer to give finds to homeowner. If they question lawn damage, just say: "You won't even be able to tell I was here." And DO that! You may want to return someday. Boy, can I ramble! Nice buys. I never see coins at sales except this: continued:
Well, the best deal I ever got, I bought a early 70's Eisenhower 40% BU that was marked as if it was a Clad for $1.50. I got it at the Coin Shop in the B&I Mall in 1985 when I was just 14 years old. And back then I could see that it was a 40% silver just from the face of the coin. That's why I bought it. Still have it with the complete collection of Ikes. Don't really like Ikes. Don't care anything about coins anymore. Damn You Scored on the Silver Tray, GOOD JOB, Congrats.
@blai745 I'll take that as a compliment, haha. Yea either I've got a horse shoe up my arse or I'm just getting really lucky for the first time in my life. I used to do gold but it go to pricey for my wallet. Good luck though!
cont'd: I found one 1909 S VDB that would pay for 2 of my detectors, but I never sell what I find. If you decide to detect, avoid wasting time on parks/schools unless not detected to death. Boarded-up houses I don't ask permission. The oldest houses are usually in the shattiest parts of the big cities, so be careful. Watch back. If some shady dude asks how much the detector costs, say $19 at WalMart. Don't say actual cost ($750! for decent one) If you have found real goodies, don't show to him.
Cont'd: Methed-out looking dude had a wood/glass display at sale with 5 Silver Certificate dollar bills and 7 walking 1/2's. I picked it up. He goes: "Make an offer." I said $10. He took it! Bought a bunch of Peace and Barber bucks at an auction for I think $120. Can't remember how many, but my Red Book told me I got about 1/3'd value. I love my coins! I lay them on the floor and molest them. Wife thinks I'm weird.
First commemorative: World's Columbian Expo. 950,000 minted. AU-50: $19. MS-60: $32. MS-65:$550. MS-66: $1,250. Peace dollar: Issued in Dec. Minted sometime before. 1,041,874 minted. Can't see condition. From $125 (VF-20) to $7,800 (MS-66). From 2011 Red Book. May be higher, now. Peace dollar alone could have paid for your score. Please don't melt the coins! Save them. Buy a good metal detector and do yards of old houses (w/permission) and REALLY add to your silver collection. to be continued:
Congratulations at the least! usually the silver ptrays are light because silver was expensive in that time but 69 ounces!!!!!!!!!! for 27 dollars!!!!!!!!!!!! Imagine who that tray belonged to lol not your commom joe hahaha CongrATS BRO
...cont'd: You live on the east side of Country? Good detecting. Old. Go to old parts of cities and get permission to detect like 1930's and older. Ask: "My hobby is metal detecting. I try to get permission to do old yards such as yours. I look for old Hot Wheels coins and whatever (don't say "coins" first. saying "Hot Wheels" kinda takes the mind off of coins) If they balk, say: "if I find any coins that interest you, I will buy you the equivelent but I like to keep what I find." continued:
WRONG WRONG WRONG. They do not JUST make solid silver. I'm being a hater, nice finds on the jewelry, but this encourages other people to go and do it and makes it hard for the hungry people to eat.
GREAT VIDEO........ GREAT FIND!!!!

Sweet haul. I liked that 1913 German coin. It looked like a 3 mark.

Good stuff. Subbed your channel. Thanks!
Nice job. Keep an eye out for gold stuff also. Today I scores an 8.8 gram 10K bracelet for a buck at a second hand store.
KEEP STACKING!
Are silver spoons always marked 925? I understand silverplated sometimes contains a great deal of brass or copper so they can be a good find too!
Great haul! Congrats on the massive find!
Nice stack: Subbed!

He should be able to, mine is dead...
ROI means RETURN on investment
It pays to be educated about these things. Not knowing what you have can be costly.
lol, "today's artificially low silver prices"
now the silver price is even lower lol
I don't get it??
Lucky
