aktueller denn je. Denn auch damals war die Welt 5 min vor dem Untergang. Ein Glück, dass noch jemand rechtzeitig den Zauberwürfel erfunden hatte. Andernfalls müssten wir uns wohl keine Gedanken mehr um die Klimakatastrophe machen. wir wären längst untergegangen.
Die Titanik sank for 111 Jahren also so aktuell ist das nun auch nicht. Steck mal deinen Kopf in den Sand da findest du mehr Tiefgang. Der Song ist aber sehr schön musikalisch. Der Peter hat wohl gerade die Hall-Einstellung am verstärker gefunden. Der Hall war das Auto-Tune von damals.

Bin 81 geboren. Mit 13 konnte ich Major Tom auswendig. Ich hab diese einzigartigkeit der Melodie geliebt. Die unverkennbare Stimme. Wie hier bei Terra Titanic. Soviel Witz, Idee, Einfallsreichtum in dieser Zeit. Die Aufmachung. Unverkennbar. Kreativität war damals sehr, sehr viel vorhanden.
Bin '07 geboren. Als Baby hat meine Mutter immer das Lied gespielt, damit ich leise wurde und nicht mehr heule. Erst vor c.a. zwei Jahren wiedergefunden und ich bin so glücklich es wiedergefunden zu haben

This song is a masterpiece on several levels: the haunting music, the visual imagery of the lyrics, and the soft yet powerful vocalization by Peter Schilling. Listening to the music, I can imagine hearing the alarm bells sounding, and the ship's horn, and the clanking of machinery as this majestic ocean liner desperately tries to save itself, and the hapless passengers and crew from destruction. The lyrics paint a picture of the events of the tragedy as it unfolded, and the refrain sums it up beautifully. Truly a work of genius. I've probably listened to this song fifty times already, and I'm not tired of it yet.

What is this song about? Well, on the surface, of course, it's an accurate description of the sinking of the Titanic (I'm talking about the German version now), a conclusion I came to after reading the U S Senate and British Board of Trade Inquiries into the disaster...see The Story Behind the Song comments elsewhere.
But some think the Titanic here is a metaphor for the earth ("Terra") on its way to destruction-- see Peter Schilling's The Noah Plan, and Things to Come, etc.
And Peter Schilling knows what it's about.. Peter, what do you say?
@@richardorth3236 This song was written and released in 1982-1983, which was one of the lowest points of the Cold War. I have nothing to back this up, but I could imagine that might have played a role in the writing of the song; having a reckless captain steaming straight ahead while knowing what is about to happen would fit the bill. Schilling has a lot of songs that have apocalyptic themes where things get out of control, which probably fits the mood of that time. However, I could just be overthinking this; science fiction doesn't always require nuclear war. I don't know if he ever expressed any political views on the Cold War. Still, one of my favorite artists because of these haunting and foreboding songs.

"Explosion in the Machinery Room...the Last Boat--had luck"
While the Titanic was sinking, Second Officer Lightoller helped the women and children on the forward boat deck into lifeboats and launched them into the water. He was getting the last boat, an Engelhardt collapsible, ready to launch when the water came up and shoved him against the grating of an air shaft, and the water poured down into the ship, pinning him to the vent. He would have drowned, but something exploded inside the ship, and air and water blew up and out of the shaft and threw him into the water, along with the Engelhardt boat, which landed upside down. He climbed aboard, and together with 28 others who climbed on, they were eventually picked up by the rescue ship, the SS Carpathia. This was the last boat to carry people to safety off the ship.

Esta canción es una obra maestra en varios niveles: la música inquietante, las imágenes visuales de la letra y la vocalización suave pero poderosa de Peter Schilling. Al escuchar la música, puedo imaginarme escuchando el sonido de las campanas de alarma, la bocina del barco y el sonido de la maquinaria mientras este majestuoso transatlántico intenta desesperadamente salvarse a sí mismo, a los desventurados pasajeros y a la tripulación de la destrucción.
