You are so eloquent and thoughtful and wonderful and I think this will be helpful to so many people!! Love you x
❤️
Thank you so much. ❤️❤️❤️
I support you babe 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻🐰🐰🐰 we all do the best we can for the animals!
veganbeautyaddict I'm so glad the both of you mentioned this subject. It is so hard to know what "the right choice" is, sometimes. And talking about it with others always helps.
Thank you! And you're right - it's all about doing your best. Everyones best is going to be different and I think it's so important to support any efforts towards cruelty-free.
Knowing what's "right" is SO hard. I'm glad this video was helpful. ❤️
I’m so glad you posted this video! This is such an important and difficult topic. I completely agree with your stance 🙌🏻
Thank you so much. ❤️ It is a difficult topic to talk about, but I felt like that made it more important to make a video about it.
Tashina, thank you so much for posting this! It was lovely to hear you speak so eloquently on the matter. I was someone who was adamant that I would avoid cruelty-free companies with parent companies that test, but this video has really really opened my eyes and made me see that it is really important to support any businesses producing vegan and cruelty free products. Thank you !!!!! And thank you for everything you do with Logical Harmony for the animols xxxxx
Thank you so much, Becky. I truly appreciate your support and it's so great to hear your thoughts on it too. Even if support means emailing them and thanking them for being cruelty-free... It all matters.
Tashina Combs if there are brands who are 100% cf, why buy from those who are owned buy non cf brands? I am a Huge makeup lover but i Will never support brands who test in animals, directly or indirectly. With ALL the respect,u are just sugarcoating the subject because it is more convenient to think that way. I myself made sacrifices because for exemple nyx made my absolute fav lipstick (abu dhabi) but i learned that is owned buy loreal and i Will never fund loreal animal testing again. That is my opinion of course. Xo
I totally agree with everything you said in this video. When I purchase from cruelty-free brands owned by non-cruelty free brands it's in the hope that one day the parent companies will see how profitable it is to be cruelty free and make the switch. Hopefully one day we'll be able to walk into makeup stores knowing every single thing in there is cruelty free!
Omg, that would be amazing to know that everything is cruelty-free! I think we're headed in that direction for sure. 💖
You just said so eloquently what I have been trying to say for almost 2 yrs now. It's not easy being a below the poverty line vegan. I wish i could go out and get all of these wonderful 100% vegan products, that are vegan owned with no disheartening parent company. But I can't. ELF is literally my go to, because it's all I can afford where we live. But we have to be making a difference. L'oreal has been working on synthetic skin to test their products on. That's a step in the right direction. Companies want to make money, so they sell in China. A country that sadly mandates animal testing. So we need to help China understand how easy it would be to change those rules. Maybe tell them what they are missing out on? Like how much cheaper it could be to NOT test on animals? How it can be safer for their people who work in those facilities. ETC.
The Discount Vegan essence and catrice are 100% cf :)
Love this and you. I have a video on this same topic and we have a lot of the same opinions on the situation. It's a tricky one. At the end of the day all I really want is for animal testing to end. I've eaten vegan at non-vegan restaurants and had the restaurant DM me on social media later asking what I created off the menu so they could add a vegan option. Would they create a vegan meal eventually? Maybe, but it happened sooner when they realized there was a demand. I think the same goes for parent companies - they won't know the demand for cruelty-free products until they see it on their roster. When all the cruelty-free companies are soaring with sales, and the non-cruelty free brands are not, they're going to take a second look. That's super powerful to me. I'm so glad you brought this up, it's brave. You're fighting the best fight :) xo
Thank you for sharing your thoughts, Hannah. I agree with your point about when brands see the cruelty-free companies are doing well, they will realize cruelty-free is important. Financials really do factor in. I also think it's super important to let these brands know that them being cruelty-free is important to us. The more data they have the better!
Omg I didn’t know that hourglass is gunna be 100% vegan in 2020!! that’s amazing!!!
Yes! Isn't that awesome!?
It is a hard decision but I completely agree with you. We need to get more vegan and cruelty free products purchased to support the animals.
I also compare it to Ben and Jerry's vegan ice creams... I've heard people say that they won't buy Ben and Jerry's because they have cows milk ice cream. For me, I'd like to show Ben and Jerry's that vegan products will sell like crazy and hopefully do better than the non vegan flavors so they will continue making more vegan options and more animals will be saved. I have non-vegan friends buying the vegan options because it's from a mainstream brand they know. I of course spend my money on vegan ice cream companies as well because they are just as tasty and I love supporting them. We need to show mainstream brands that there is success in vegan and cruelty free options and support their efforts in providing these options. The ice cream scenario can also relate to make up... if you'll only buy ice cream from an all vegan ice cream brand then are you only going to buy make up from an all vegan make up line?
I don't know if this makes sense lol
The Applefords good points!!
The Ben & Jerry's comparison is a very good one! It's part of what I was thinking of when talking about food. So many of the vegan options in the US are owned partially or completely by bigger brands who test on animals or are part of the animal agriculture system. Such as how Ben & Jerry's is also owned by Unilever too, who tests on animals. And a lot of those foods aren't necessities but have gained a lot of support from the vegan community.
Showing mainstream brands that there is a market for cruelty-free brands and vegan options is incredibly important and, like you say, spending money on those options is ultimately going to have a larger impact. If they have a lot of vocal support but no sales, it likely won't make sense for the business to keep producing those options.
I know that a lot of people do only support 100% vegan companies, which is great. But I think it's so important to understand that everyone is coming from their own perspective and what's do-able for some isn't for others. I want to help more and more people buy cruelty-free products, and I think including these brands will help show people that it's EASY to pick cruelty-free.
SO proud of you! You're such a powerhouse in this Cruelty Free community. You are so well spoken in this video, you're so helpful!
Thank you so much!
I do agree that buying cruelty free with a parent company is better than buying non cruelty free.
I just don’t really like the food comparison - as cosmetics are not essential for survival.
Thank you for making this video, Tashina 💖
while i agree the grocery store comparison doesn't work well, i think the comparison with the restaurant works perfectly. just as you don't need makeup to survive, you also don't need to eat at a restaurant - you could just cook/eat at home and not support that restaurant.
Winona Reitzer this is true. 😀
I am so glad you made this video. You articulated a lot of the things I've been thinking about for a while, but was never quite able to put into words. I love that you brought the idea of accessibility in to the conversation, as this isn't really something that gets talked about a lot. Thank you so much for sharing your perspective!!
I appreciate hearing your thoughts on this so much! You made some spot-on statements and comparisons. I feel confident that the world is slowly changing into a more compassionate world, and supporting all brands that make a stand for animal rights is SO important! You have helped me so much in my transition to CF products and I am grateful for your activism 💕
Yes! I love what you said about how the world is slowly changing because it's SO true! Helping get more people on board is so important. Thank you so much for your support, Ava.
It’s great to hear you talk about the subject of parent companies that test on animals. I agree that when I first started actively purchasing cruelty free makeup it was difficult and your website was the main reason I was successful. After doing my own research I decided not to purchase from companies that had a parent company testing on animals mainly because I don’t think it does make a difference to those parent companies. If at all possible I would rather give my money to a company that definitely won’t use it to conduct animal testing.
Buying food in a supermarket is different because there are no all-vegan supermarkets to support (if there was I would buy my products there). Eating in a non-vegan restaurant is also different in my opinion because I don’t have any vegan restaurants where I live, I don’t have any vegan friends and I can’t choose where we eat every single time we go out because that would make veganism seem unreasonable to them. Also I think buying food in a non-vegan restaurant does actually influence the menu, here in the UK we’ve seen lots of changes to chain restaurant menus due to demand and that helps to make veganism more accessible to non-vegans. I understand that the same logic to restaurants is being applied to cruelty free makeup and to an extent I don’t disagree but I think food is a far more important hurdle to prospective vegans than makeup. People say “I couldn’t be a vegan, I wouldn’t have anything to eat” and helping to make vegan food more available will help tackle this. I can’t imagine there being a person that wouldn’t be a vegan just because of makeup.
I will still continue to avoid parent companies that test on animals because I can, I’ve learned what products I can buy and it’s no longer a problem for me. Unfortunately not all cruelty free companies are also vegan but I think that is where my money is best spent to influence them to go vegan. Perhaps they will make enough profit that companies that test on animals will take notice and change their practice to become cruelty free too.
Emma LI 100% AGREE
Such a sensitive subject, so thank you for having the guts to make this video!
Like you said, it's not all black and white. And yes, companies like L'Oréal (I'm picking them as an example cause, to me, the way they're trying to trick people into thinking they're not testing on animals shows they already know there is a market for CF brands) are for sure only motivated by money but in the end I guess what matters most is that we need to make animal testing a thing of the past.
Almost any brand nowdays has an email address or some way you can contact them. I think what I'm gonna do is write the parent company everytime I buy from a CF brand they own with a pic of my receipt and a note explaining where my money went and why. Might be a complete waste of time, I don't know. But at least I'll be trying.
Nathalie C. LOVE THAT IDEA
Hi Tashina thanks so much ! I went cruelty free after we adopted our rescue puppy 4 years ago . i was lost as so many of my brands we no longer cruelty free , but you made it so much easier . Thank you so much !!
That's such an amazing reason to start using cruelty-free products! 💖 Thank you so much for your support over the past years. I appreciate it so so much.
really appreciated hearing your thoughts on this topic!! it can be a touchy one, but i think anyone who goes cruelty free in any way shape or form has the same basic intention/goal. i don't know if i'd buy from companies owned by a parent company that tests if i wasn't on social media, but right now i just want people to see how easy being cruelty-free & vegan is! and a major bonus is...tarte has some bomb ass products haha
Information is vital. I had no idea that companies really were fighting from within, which definitely makes me rethink. I wish there was more clear info about this available.
I wish there was too! I really wish the brands could openly share what they are doing, because it's amazing. It's definitely not something they need to do but a lot of them truly passionately care.
I personally try to only feature cruelty free companies without bad patents on my blog because showcasing those brands put them on the map for my readers. I am very very fair and finding any foundation or concealer that suits my dry skin is impossible so I would buy that from a cf bran with a bad parent but the products that are so easy to find from completely cf brands, I won’t showcase companies with bad parents. I would prefer to email them and tell them my opinion than using my dollars because they don’t know that I’m buying a product because it’s cf unless I tell them as plenty of non cruelty free people buy from those brands too. In saying all of that I understand where you are coming from. I do hope that you do still keep an emphasis on those independant brands that will never compromise their values for money though :)
Alinta McMurdo
Yess!
Wow. You just put into words what I have been struggling with for years and really changed my perspective on the issue. I’ve felt really pressured to get all of the parent owned brands out of my collection because I film but I think your points about making it accessible to new people have really altered my thoughts. Thank you thank you thank you for making this video.
So happy you made this video and expressed your thoughts. I agree 100%. Supporting these companies who have maintained their CF stance is so important. Even shopping at a place like Sephora, where the majority of brands they sell are not CF, puts "money in the wrong hands". At a certain point, it's inevitable. We have to continue to support brands who are doing all they can within the current status quo. Unfortunately, being acquired by a non-CF parent is just a business move at the end of the day and isn't always reflective of the company's personal morals. Anyway, I'm excited to see new products from other brands on your channel! Since going vegan 4 years ago, your site has been instrumental in my transition to CF/vegan products. You'll have some viewers who don't agree with your new stance, but like you said, you have to do what is right for you.
Thank you for the kind words and support. ❤️
"Being acquired by a non-CF parent is just a business move at the end of the day and isn't always reflective of the company's personal morals." This is so accurate. There are so many reasons brands get acquired or take on financial investments from bigger companies or other brands, and I think it's often not realized that these brands are often doing a lot behind the scenes as well.
yes, this! you managed to put into words how i feel about this topic, which i've been struggling to do for awhile. i think it's so important to show all cruelty free brands how much it means to consumers that they're cruelty free.
Thank you for making a video on this topic! While I don't know that I personally will change my stance to not buy from brands owned by testing companies, I do agree that it can be extremely daunting for people newly transitioning to cruelty-free. Not only having to try new and unfamiliar brands, but also just wrapping your brain around all the deep issues such as company acquisitions.
While I doubt most people newly transitioning would be passionate enough to do this, my recommendation when the topic of "bad parents" comes up is: Yes! If you love that brand you should support them still. But when you do, always send them a quick email, or a tweet, or make a short call to their customer service and specifically say, "thank you for being cruelty-free, I support your brand specifically for this reason."
Probably because I work in marketing; analytics and market research are my jam! Lol.
Thanks again Tashina, and Justin too!
When I went cruelty free with beauty products, I checked logical harmony before making any purchases for almost a year. I still check for updates often. Love you so much! 💕
This is exactly on how I feel on this subject. You explained it so well. Thank you! I have been transitioning to buying only vegan products now (all my products are cruelty free). It does take a lot of research. I do tend to stick to brands that I know have vegan products and it's especially awesome when they label vegan ones. It makes things way easier.
Thank you so much for your video. I recently started being cruelty free and felt so overwhelmed. You put my heart at easy with all your knowledge.
Thank you so much for talking about this! I too wonder if I'm doing enough as a new Vegan. I follow a Vegan diet and buy Cruelty-Free beauty products and have been incorporating more Vegan beauty into my collection (though not everything I purchase is Vegan). I do buy from CF companies whose parent companies may not be CF, and also eat the Vegan option or veganize a dish at non-vegan restaurants. I totally believe in voting with your dollar and showing demand for these products. Thank you so much for all the work that you do-I love your blog!! It has helped educate myself and in turn has helped me to educate others (I work in the beauty industry).
I totally agree with you. It's not hypocritical to buy from cruelty free brands like Urban Decay or Too Faced even if they are owned by L'Oréal or Estée Lauder because I much rather spend my money on makeup brands that don't test on animals than directly support animal testing brands themselves. I'm trying to send them a message, as an individual consumer, that there is a demand for cruelty free products and that I do care whether animals have been tested on my makeup or not. I'm hoping that 2018 will be the year that changes the game for cruelty free brands because I would really love to see an end to animal testing worldwide.
Hey there. I'm in Courtney's group and after seeing Schmidt's news that they were acquired by Unilever, I was pretty pissed. Until one of the girls mentioned this video. You made excellent points! I am a huge fan of Nyx, so this was very comforting to hear.
I really love the restaurant/grocery store analogy! And I really appreciate how you acknowledge the gray area and everyone’s different budgets and access! Thanks for all that you do for the cruelty free and vegan community!
When a cruelty free company is aquired by a larger, non cruelty free brand, they become way more accesible, for example nyx... i could rarely find that brand and its now available at our biggest drugstore here in Canada which I think is a good thing.. when i first went cruelty free i didn't support parent companies but in the last couple of years i decided to do it because you're still making a difference.. I know many people still disagree with that but the main reason i changed my mind was because i was talking to a fellow vegan who isn't into makeup and doesn't support parent companies but would still support a vegan food product that is owned by a meat or dairy company.. she basically explained that makeup isn't a necessity and i told her neither is the food product which i think was a brand of almond milk she was buying because she could buy another brand or make it herself so I basically agreed with her and that's how i made my decision
I don't usually comment but I just wanted to thank you for the enormous work that you do everyday. 🙏
I live in France and over here we struggle to find cruelty-free and vegan products / brands so yes I do have to buy Cruelty-Free / Vegan products from brands with parent companies that test. Hoping that will change things all the same.
You have been one of the first person (with Rhian🙈 ) who I followed. 💕
Your blog, your RUclips channel and your cruelty-free brand list help me sooooo much every single day ! 🙌
And I think that working with all those brands and get them to understand how important cruelty-free and vegan products are for us is great. You are our voice. You are making them think and change ! So thank you a thousand times ! 💜💜💜💜💜💜🇫🇷
Thanks so much for sharing your processing and thoughts on this tricky topic! I also struggle with this one a lot, but it’s good to hear some fresh perspectives. I hadn’t thought about it like that. But I think your overall message of tolerance and doing one’s best and supporting each other is so important! Thanks for doing what you do!
Very well said, Tashina! I completely agree with you, at the end of the day, companies need growth and if we can show them how to grow by investing in their cruelty-free segments, it's a win-win for everyone.
Tashina, thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and insight about this topic. This has been a tough transition for me getting into cruelty free products. Like you mentioned in your video, its a much easier transition using cruelty free companies with parent companies that test; however, I still feel guilty using those products. For now I continue to use up/declutter the remainder of my products that are not cruelty free, while also trying new things that are cruelty free. I am so appreciative of the passion you put into Logical Harmony, that you continue to produce content, and that you’re constantly sharing all the wonderful options we have as a consumers. Thank you for all you do to contribute to the vegan and cruelty free community.
thank you so much for posting this and starting the conversation again!! i’m so appreciative for all you do for the CF and vegan communities 💖
I agree with you 100%. I appreciate that you posted this video; thanks for all your hard work, it doesn't go unnoticed!!
Thank you for watching and for the support, Emily.
Thank you for this video!! That is a difficult subject and sometimes controversial. You explained it so eloquently. You and Justin do such an amazing job helping us make better choices, not just in beauty items but lifestyle as well. I have completed went cruelty free with everything in my household and I couldn't do it without you guys!
Not that your other videos don't sound genuine, but this video is so genuine, nice and refreshing to hear! It's important that we try not to beat ourselves up too much!!
This was really helpful for me as i'm just starting to go cruelty free and it can be quite intimidating! In the transition i've been really struggling with the idea of cruelty free brands that are owned by parent companies who choose to test on animals because a lot of the products I already own are from those brands. The way you talked about the comparison to food and make-up brands really shed a different light on it for me and I feel like it's a great point of view to share!
Thank you so much Tashina, well said. I think your approach on this topic is incredible. It’s real and it’s honest, and as a vegan, who has completely switched to CF and vegan brands, I want to thank you SO VERY much for ALL you do. Your compassion is contagious. 💛
Here's my issue - Are these companies lying to us? Are they really cruelty-free? Who really knows. We never see the factories or even know where they are located. At a restaurant, we can actually be there.
Your vids haven’t popped in my sub box since this video.... sketchy RUclips! I believe in being open it will widen the scope of your audience. I think once we get too picky it becomes really difficult and unappealing for others who have yet to raise their consciousness...keep doing you ❤️💕
I actually had a similar revelation recently. When I went cruelty free 4 years ago, I purchased from brands with parent companies. About a year ago, when Too Faced sold, I decided not to anymore. But recently, I have been talking to many vegan experts and people who work for Too Faced and realized that maybe I was quick to jump to a judgment. I totally respect everyone's opinions on the matter but I don't think it's black and white either.
I personally come from a business background (I know you do too) and I think it's actually a GOOD thing to show these companies that vegan & cruelty free is the way of the future. I remember people telling me that I was wrong for thinking that, and that L'Oreal & Estee Lauder would never change. I respect everyone's opinion but I totally should not have listened to people who told me that. Because if I thought nothing would ever change, I wouldn't be vegan or cruelty free. That is the point! Because I DO believe in change. And business is the way to start that!
I really agree with you here but I have been so afraid to change my mind & speak up. I really really really appreciate you saying this. It makes me feel like I'm not crazy!
Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts on this. I love hearing what everyone is thinking & feeling! 💖
I think that your point about thinking from it from a business perspective is key. In a lot of ways, the bigger parent companies need data - financial data, customer service data, etc - to back things up. We need to ensure the cruelty-free brands have that to give them. Whether it be sales numbers, or even just an increase in emails from customers saying that the brand being cruelty-free is important to them. It all adds up and using our voice to impact it is incredibly important.
Like you, I was so afraid to open up about this and speak my mind. But, in the end, anything that can be done to help animals is more important to me than my ego.
You’re a blessing to the vegan community❤️ I am so grateful for everything you do to support, educate and help so many people find their path to a more compassionate way of life. I would also like to include Justin for his love and support as well.. you two are beautiful souls🙏🏻 thank you from the bottom of my heart ❣️🌈
I understand your stance, I hope we continue to see smaller labels represented that are cruelty free and not owned by parent companies. :) love that you show eye of horus as im a Australian and I can buy those products here and bought them after your review. Your channel definetly helps me when I need to find cruelty free option.
Thank you for this. You explain everything and you stance so eloquently. Your website and videos have helped me so much. I really appreciate you doing all of this and being so transparent!
You have such a great thought process. I appreciate how you support everyone else's thought process and journeys. Thanks for sharing!
You've made the process super easy. I walk into ULTA knowing exactly what I want and what side of the store I can shop on. It's very empowering. Thank you!
I agree that, long term, making content that introduces cruelty-free brands to the largest number of people at their easiest level of access is smart. Once it’s truly normal for most brands to be CF, then we can tackle the other issues. My measuring stick will be when most drugstore and High-end luxury brands are CF. I feel like most mid-tier brands have or are leaning into going CF, but it’s either end of the spectrum that’s still struggling to take the plunge. Very thoughtful video and I look forward to seeing what’s in store for Logical Harmony in the future!
This is helpful. I'm 45 and have been cruelty free since 18. I used to do research on parent companies before the internet existed. I didn't used to buy from companies that test, but it's gotten hard! Especially with the china market opened up. Revlon used to be cruelty free! I'm still conflicted, but thanks for the video and keeping up with cruelty free info. I'm happy to see the issue hasn't died in all these years.
You seriously are the reason I was able to switch over my beauty products to cruelty free. Thank you so much for everything you do! I also agree with you on this issue. I wanna show the demand for cruelty free
Thank you for such a well-presented position on such a challenging topic - so many of us completely feel as you do and applaud the efforts of every consumer making the CF choice! Such an important message! So much love for the animals and compassion for people trying to make the right and best choices in voting with their wallets.
This was very helpful sis, thank you for sharing. It is hard, and you do feel guilty when a company has a mother-brand that test on animals, but you bring up a good point supply and demand 👏💣
Thank you for expressing your feelings about the issue! I appreciated what you said. I feel the same way. I’m still hard on myself sometimes. But I use your lists all the time so I can see my options when I shop! Thank you for all you do. It really does make a huge difference for me, and so many others. 💛💛💛
Well said! I am so glad that you did this video. This topic is a HUGE grey area in the cruelty-free community. It's important that we look at it from more than one perspective to understand how we truly feel and decide on what our stance is. At the end of the day, though, every contribution matters! You of course have my support! Thank you for everything that you have contributed to the cruelty-free community. I don't know what I would do without you or Logical Harmony! ☺️💗👸🏼💕🐰🎀✨
Girl you took the words out of my mouth ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ businesses make their decisions based on THE NUMBERS and market research. A faceless conglomerate has no compassion. It is not a person. It can't. The only way to send a message to these huge parent companies is to show them that consumers WANT cruelty free products and that it is marketable. Yayayayaya tashina you slay.
Autocorrect wants me to call you Toshiba 😂
This has been my thought process for a long time. I finally caved and bought some specific tarte products because I couldn't find what I need outside of it and I knew it'd work for me. You beautifully put it into words thanks! 💁🏼♀️
Dear Tashina, I could not agree more. Thank you so much for your contribution for the animals 💕💖💗
Thank you for making this video! I love how honest you are about how conflicted you have been on this issue and how open minded you are!
Thank you for making this video!! I have had some of the same thoughts about parent companies and wanting or not wanting to buy from brands that are cruelty-free but the parent company is not. Being a new cruelty-free and vegan product consumer, i find your channel so helpful and videos like this make me realize that I am doing a good thing and what I've been thinking about is common among people in the cruelty-free/vegan beauty world.
so happy you posted this! i've been conflicted with buying from cruelty free brands with parent companies and this helped a lot. So happy to support you and your channel!
I respect you and what you do so much! I have referred to your website SO many times in that last couple of years as I’ve switched to Cruelty free products! ❤️❤️ Thank you!
Very well put! I do buy from CF brands with non CF parent companies, and I've reached a point where I feel less bad about it than I did before. Like you said, where you live influences your access to those "truly" CF brands and for me it's simply not realistic to exclude CF brands with non CF parent companies. I believe in the customer's power to change through how and what we buy, and while it's always somewhat disappointing when a brand gets acquired, as long as they keep their CF status I will keep supporting them. I feel like The Body Shop is also a good example of how new and better acquisitions are possible (L'Oreal selling to Natura).
It has been almost three years since I decided to go cruelty free and vegan in my beauty products. You and Rhian and a little help from Leti. Helped me. I just bought a Pacifica crystal Matrix palette for my friends daughter who is turning sixteen soon. Great video!
Such a hard topic, thankyou for taking the time to address this! I totally agree that when making the switch to cruelty free and vegan products it’s easier for people to have heaps of options and not I’ve overthink who owns them. I still try to never support any company who sell to parent companies who test for my own personal ethics, as I feel brands like L’Oreal for example will never give a shit and just buy them to make more money. I like to also support the smaller indie brands too as it’s generally a more locally family run company and I like helping that. But I also never think that by buying from other brands that it is wrong either, I just don’t like to xx
Thank you for this video and being so thorough, compassionate, and informative. You are such a good voice in this community 💕
I started buying vegan makeup because I am allergic to Carmine. However, thanks to you, I also have switched to buying Cruelty free brands. Also, in my search for more vegan makeup, I learned a lot about what being vegan is all about. I switched to eating vegan in July and have not looked back! Just wanted to thank you for all the information because it really helps, especially when just starting out switching to Cruelty Free products and brands. Happy Holidays! (One last note - it is so frustrating when brands do not post their ingredients online!!)
Yes it is. I am trying to go cruelty free. I bought some eye shadow from wet n wild and had to get rid of it because it started to make my eyes burn. I started to use elf eye shadow instead. Got some from L.A. Colors and the same thing happened. I compared the ingredients. They had the same ingredient that made my eyes burn. I had also looked at ingredients on L.A. Girls website and their eye shadows didnt have the ingredient listed...but when I looked at them in the store it was on the label. Very disappointed.
Thank you for this! I would love to see brands that are more easily attainable on your channel and logicalharmony's site. While I love watching your videos and reading your blogs, so many of the products promoted there just aren't feasible for me due to financials and shade range in smaller (although great) CF companies. I've been CF and vegan for almost eight years now, but it's still incredibly difficult for me to buy from many CF companies, especially when most have online only stores, and between not being able to return products, knowing the shade ranges won't suit me, and the often higher prices, it's just not possible and leaves me feeling guilty for purchasing from brands with parent companies. And it's hard to feel like you're doing your best when you see so many people in the CF community essentially bashing your choices
Thank you for making this video with your thoughts Tashina. I've been thinking about this the past couple of days and I appreciate your non-judgmental, open-minded, and realistic opinions
Thank you for this video! I want to also to thank you because with the help of your website you make the "hunt" for cruelty-free brands a lot easier. I'm trying with the best of my abilities to be cruelty-free at least with skincare and makeup. In my country, is very hard to find brands that are cf, I mean literally, I can only find two (gosh and nyx), so I shop most of these things online. The harder thing for me to find cf alternative is foundation because I have to see it in real life but I guess I have to make some "sacrifices". And also the way I see it is that the non-cf parent companies if they see that nyx sales, for example, are higher than Maybelline they will understand why people prefer the one vs. the other. If they don't see that difference because even people that care about cruelty-free products don't shop from nyx the parent companies may think that the differnce is because of something else.
Thank you for making this video. I am someone who choose to purchase from cruelty free brands who are owned by non cruelty free companies and I agree with what you say. Especially since living in south east Asia, we don’t really have access to good quality cruelty free independent brands.
I buy mostly vegan with some exceptions here and there but I think the most important thing is how we make things easier to make a change and difference
Much love Tashina ❤️✨
Thank you for making this video, 100% AGREED !!! 🐰💖✨
Thank you for watching! 💖💖
Thank you for this! I’ve only begun changing everything over to cruelty free this year (since I lived in a bubble and honestly thought animal testing was a thing of the past) and it’s definitely hard sometimes to find things within a budget and not having to order everything online, so I think any changes made in the right direction are better than none. My goal is to have 100% CF products by the new year!
Loved this video! Thanks for being honest! I feel the same way about it, it's nice to hear someone else that really cares but is not judgemental or religious about this topic!
This helps put my mind at ease. I want to explore more cruelty free options and kept feeling so conflicted when they were owned by a parent that tests.
U have helped me to go and stay cruelty free, I am able to double check with your site feeling secure that you’re so reliable. Thank you for doing this!
Also, I do buy from companies that have parent companies that do test. I feel that it sheds light on how the cruelty free brand is doing well because of its stance. It allows parent companies to realize this is important and they can still make money without testing.
I'm so glad you shared this! I completely agree with your stance. Buy cruelty free, no matter what, because it makes a difference. We're all on the same side and helping animals!
Thank you so much for watching, commenting, and supporting. I agree that, no matter what, it all makes a difference. All small steps definitely add up.
When I first got into makeup I asked myself the same thing, comparing the difference between eating a vegan meal at a non vegan restaurant and buying cruelty makeup from up from companies owned by parents that test on animals. The vegan community was so helpful in sharing their thoughts and helped me decide that the two issues are different- food is something I need to live and sometimes I need to buy it from stores or restaurants that also sell meat. Makeup isn’t something I need to live, it’s a luxury item, and with the help of your blog, I’ve found dozens of options for everything I need for makeup that’s cruelty free, vegan and not owned by a company that participates in animal testing. Your cruelty free and Vegan list has sooo many options at so many price points that I think it could satisfy almost anyone who wanted to purchase only vegan and cruelty free makeup from companies that don’t test on animals or have parents who test on animals. So thanks for everything, you’ve made it possible for me and everyone else to keep on doing what we do, ethically.
I'm so glad you published your thoughts on this. I cannot agree more. I also understand that not everyone will agree, and like you said, that's okay!
I think just having the conversation is SO important! We're all coming from different places and, deep down, we all have the same goal to reduce animal suffering at heart. 💖
Thank you for doing what you do. I greatly admire your opinion and appreciate all the hard work you put into your channel and website. I'm also so appreciative for your eloquent commentary on this topic.
I pledged to go cruelty-free as my 2018 resolution, and your guidance and insight have been invaluable. Thank you for what you do.
Thank you for posting this! I was just taking with someone about this. I support your stance. :). Doing something is better than doing nothing. And often people have to choose items within their budget and more often than not, that is drugstore and the parent company isn’t always cruelty free. But the more we buy, the more our voice is heard. Money talks.
Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts on this topic. I really like what you said about meeting people where they are without judgement, and with compassion! XO Making small and better choices do make a difference even if we haven't reached perfection!
Such an insightful perspective I've often wondered this how far to limit as I work towards better makeup options. It's nice to hear from different perspectives and the company's reasonings and though process as well in this issue.
Such a great video and I completely agree with your stance. It’s not always an easy decision to make but it’s an important topic to discuss!
Thank you soooo much for doing this video. I went cruelty free 4 years ago and it wasn't until recently that I found out my favorite cruelty free brands are owned by parent companies that do test on animals. Since then I am only purchasing from companies which do not have parent companies that test on animals. I do not want to financially support those parent companies like L'Oreal and Estée Lauder. But that's just my personal opinion.
Thank you for this! I’m still a newbie in the Cruelty free & vegan makeup info and this was very helpful!
I dont often post on your channel but ive been watching you for 3 years now. Love your videos❤
What a great video. I may have come off harsh on a previous video of yours, I apologize if so. I just want to put this out there. I have been vegan/cruelty-free for almost 8 years now, and up until a month ago, I have never come across your videos. You are so helpful, even after all these years. I thank you. On the topic of this video, I tend to feel the way you do. I feel, we need to shop or eat at places that have non vegan or cruelty-free products, so that they can see there is a demand! There are ways to help. Email companies, let them know we want vegan/cruelty-free products. Let your voice be heard!
Very well stated Tashina. I agree wholeheartedly with your position. It is a movement we want to become mainstream. The only way to perpetuate a massive movement and achieve global change, is to be inclusive and supportive of all efforts made for the cause. We need to be mindful not to alienate individuals who are making positive(but not perfect) choices, all the while continuing to educate and be educated.
I️ love the comparison to a restaurant or grocery store. I️ feel the same way - show the brands/companies where the demand is. Make them spend the money to restock or create they vegan options. I feel bad for the companies who were acquired in order to be able to offer more and then people do not buy from them anymore for that same reason. It was really great to hear your stance, especially since you work with so many brands and have done the research ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Yes Tashina! This is such a great video with such a valid point! Thank you for making it, you are amazing. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Such a great video!! This is something I’ve thought about for a long time too. Thanks for sharing your thoughts- you have so many great points ✨❤️❤️
Thank you! I love your videos and you and your work are a huge help to me in transitioning over to cruelty free products.
So glad you recorded this. Helps so much!
Very interesting post. I also feel conflicted about buying cruelty free products from non cruelty free parent companies. Before I repurchase, I check that they are still cruelty free. I hope that the volume of cruelty free sales will make parent companies rethink their stance on animal testing. Really appreciate the time and effort you take to research products and companies to ensure they are cruelty free.
This is so well thought out and I love your ability to always lift people up where you can. 🤗🤗
I totally started out buying parent companies but because of channels like yours and lists like yours, it helped me cut out parent companies. I get your stance and I think this video will be helpful to those who want to better understand the parent company topic.
Thank you for this video, I totally agree. I'm going to share it with my friends.
