    Hey Ed. You are doing exactly what I have always wanted to do. I had all my radios (Yaesu 2000D and all the accessories and DMU all ready to go in my Lawn Shed. My Father In-Law moved in a took over all my space, I sold all my gear. Now I watch RUclips channels like yours and "Dream again". I would jump back into it again, but worried about my Health and Age now and fear of having it all left behind for my Wife to deal with it when I am gone. Love your setup in the Back Yard, mine was very similar. Keep up those videos, they are keeping my dreams alive. 73 sir. KC9RWE

    Hi Ed, hope your well ? Watched both your videos. Great idea using the extension leads for your radials.
    I can see you have a pretty substantial metal fence around your property, and to me that's a massive ground plane not being utilized.

      @@edwhitney1862 Indeed. Enjoyed it very much. I really like to see other portable installations, and the ground radials and counterpoise systems are always the biggest challenge. I believe you addressed it simply and effectively.

      Thanks Gracemehannaker! I wasn’t really pleased with the way my video rendered. I shot it in 1080 but it looks a little fuzzy on RUclips. What do you think? Have a great day in Australia! 73. -Ed

    Great video and I love the speaker stand setup, so much so I have a similar stand that I keep on the truck. It's made by a company in Italy and has a very wide stance so it's capable of supporting a variety of antennas.
    On another note, you live in the same town that used to be home to my favorite amateur radio store (Universal Radio), I sure do miss them.
    Take care and 73' de kc5jsr.

    Would the antenna not perform notably better if you were to ground strap it to a rod driven into the ground !

    • @edwhitney1862
      @edwhitney1862  Год назад +2

      Hi Truth! It probably would but it preformed pretty darn good without grounding it. If it was going to be a permanent install you are right, the ground rod would be the right way to go. Thanks so much for watching and your comment! -Ed. W8EDW

      @@edwhitney1862 Maybe you could put a permanent grounding rod in , say next to the shed , or just over the brick wall in the garden, ( as not to trip over it).....and you could attach and detach as required....not so permanent. Might be good for further " Experimentations", Heck it might be a test of how much difference it makes so you could share the results with us, .....great test though....enjoyed your idea !
