- If your SKODA doesn't have a spare wheel and you have a puncture, you'll find an emergency repair kit in the boot. Lawrence Johnson of DM Keith SKODA in Leeds shows you how to temporarily repair the puncture and get back on your way. NB: THIS IS NOT A PERMANENT REPAIR - DO NOT EXCEED 50MPH AND TAKE THE CAR TO A SKODA DEALER OR PROFESSIONAL REPAIRER AS SOON AS POSSIBLE
A really professional video with such clear instructions that anyone, technical or non-technical can follow. The sound quality was also excellent, unlike many instruction videos. You defiitely get 5 stars from me and a thumbs up !
It was very helpful thank you. Could not get home with out watching your video.
Lifesafer! My Kodiaq is an import and the manual is unreadable. Best instruction I could have had.
Thanks for posting, very helpful. What ball ache, especially in the rain.Bring back the spare tyre.
Thank you so much. Much clearer and detailed than the official instructions/video.
I tried this but had massive trouble squeezing the fluid into the tyre. Squeezed really hard yet still only managed to get a little in. I thought I was doing something wrong that’s why I watched your video. I’ll try again, fingers crossed
Very well explained thank you. Not much fun in the winter rain.Oh for a spare tyre
Found this very useful today, thank you.
sorry folks, especially all you people that think this is useful because most of this information is wrong and and not delivered the way it should and 9 times out of ten it wont work. firstly the leak area or puncture hole needs to be positioned at the bottom so listen and look for the leak if it has a screw or nail in it remove it move car till the hole is at the bottom if you cant find it make sure the valve is at the top of wheel and squeeze in the product it will run down and find hole only if it is in the tread area. then pump up the tyre to 30 psi and drive for at least two miles to disperse evenly the gel product, then pump up further to manufactures spec pressure. my pump wouldn't even work when i tried it probably made in China another problem area, strange. advice get a space saver or a second hand real spare as the manufactures through greed are putting you lives at risk when this happens especially now with the mass of large potholes that will now burst your tyres and damage your alloys i have spent thousands keeping my cars and vans on the road they now all have proper spares wheel and all the relevant tools jack, torch, lock nut key all together, remember its your life and your families etc that are at risk this is a massive problem ask your emergency services. and when you are buying a car or van near the end of the deal ask to see the manager and ask if they have a proper safe spare wheel in the vehicle if not be prepared to walk away from the deal the manager wont want to lose all this profit trust me, i have done this often , be safe and be strong,. share this to everyone thanks
What a bloody performance all to save the car manufacturers money!! It used to be an offence to drive a car without a spare wheel! I can change a wheel far quicker than that stupid idea and what they don't tell you that if you have a rip in the tyre that stuff you are supposed to pump into the tyre does not work so you are stuffed!!
Tell it your mom and my old aunt from the countryside ... Mr. wise...
+ When you show up to tire repair shop and they see that stuff inside they will most likely refuse to service it. Happend to a lots of ppl.
Six minutes is not bad to get going again
One should NEVER buy a car that doesn't come with a spare tyre ! And yes, this is totally unacceptable, not only IT DOESN'T WORK but it also makes servicing your tyre later on a hopeless thing!
It's disgraceful that that spare tyres are not required by law
Thankyou... just to confirm that the punchured tyre once filled with gel is not repairable & a new replacement tyre is required?
Yeah such a scam, just source a space saver from a compatible older model and throw this crap in your shed at home, got 2 cars that I've had to buy space savers for, much more confident on long country trips..
@@lunch2102 thankyou! Yes ill source a spare wheel soon.
Informative video, mate. Cheers!
I could’ve done with this video earlier today. Why manufacturers no longer fit spare tyres is beyond me. As of now I’m paying for a spare tyre because if the hole in the tyre is more than 4mm then this get is of no use!
The sealant works and will get you to a tyre repair shop, it does not damage TPMS or the tyre. For those wanting a spare wheel then buy one or insist one is supplied as part of the bargaining when buying a new car. It's surprising how much fuel can be saved, just by reducing weight and it also helps manufacturers meet those emission targets.
You don't want to reduce weight by removing a spare wheel. That is the worst advice I ever heard. Put only half a tank of fuel and you saved yourself more weight than a spare wheel.
@@lehelzelenka207 that there is spot on keep a spare wheel at all times I only fill a full tank for long journeys local driving I put in £20
Great video. Very well detailed. Thank You 🙂 !
Gr8 vid-disapointed as bought the octavia 4 its big boot 4 trips to Scotland-not many garages at top of scotland
Now reset your tyre pressure monitor? before driving off.
I’ve bought a spare thre. Keeping the compressor in case I can blow it up if it’s a slow puncture
Thank you, I wasn’t 100% sure of the instructions, your video confirms exactly what I thought I had to do. Ps great video & nice 👍 watch.
Brilliant video, thank you!
I don’t see what the issue is. If you want a full size spare then just order one. This kit is actually a very useful solution for a lot of people. They do reduce cost to the manufacturer granted and they reduce the overall weight of the car, contributing to fuel efficiency. Why moan and criticise the manufacturer when it’s your personal choice which you have?
I didnt have a choice...wasnt even told by the dealer there was no spare!
I have ateca and bought full size spare so I can continue a journey safely. These kits are fine but if there’s significant hole or damage you’re stuck at side of road - potential death trap until b down service can get to you with replacement tyre at top price. Or just get spare. Space savers have speed limitation, it’s role to get you to tyre depot and much less tread - about 2mm on skinny tyre. Just out full size spare in boot.
How long does the gel last for? my Vrs is now 10 yr old. Its not clear on the container as to any expiry date.
The genuine VAG sealant canisters usually have a three year usage time limit.
Does anyone know how long it lasts. I have work and cant get tyre sorted until Saturday
My air compressor doesn't even work. Classic
When the tyre is flat do you need to take the nail/screw out before you apply the gel not sure you mentioned that?
Good point, I've no idea.
it needs to stay in
Bought a used fabia recently and the tool that is mentioned at 1:04 is missing in my kit. Any advice?
good video
talk about complicated. My pump attaches to the fluid bottle that attaches to the tyre. Turn on the pump and it pumps in the fluid and inflates the tyre.
And then u fook up ur tpms sensor inside the wheel by using this gel so will cost u €150 for a new sensor and probably a new tyre aswel of they won't repair it . And if the tyre is old and u cant get the same one as the ones on the car u will need 2 tyres the same on each side so a puncture could now end up costing u allot of money .
There is no tmps sensor in superb :). But i agree with you. Full spare tire is much better solution. Looks hideous but works very well.
Happened to me with a Leon years ago. Joke solution to a puncture.
@@peeticek1624Volkswagen decided to skip pressure sensors and detects leaking tires by monitoring the ABS sensors.
Very dangerous telling someone inexperienced to drive 10 meters backwards on a hard shoulder! P.s i think the tyre needs changing and wheel balancing even without the punture.
How can this work, you haven't even spread the gel around inside the tyre by rotating that wheel a few times, the chance is 90% that the puncture is not there where the gel is sitting now inside the tyre, namely only at the very bottom.
Referenced at 4:30 on the video.
RFT every day!
What a stupid system, can't beat a spare wheel better than nothing I sapose
