Nipple shields have saved my breastfeeding journey with my newborn. I'm so pleased you were able to get Oakley to latch and both feed him. I completely understand how much it affects your mental health when you're struggling, just know you're not alone
Parents should just buy some milk and give it to the baby.

Thank you so much for sharing your journey with us! I've learned so much, both as a crafter and a breastfeeding mama of a 5 week old. Nipple shields are definitely in my future! I'm working to get my supply up as well, so I'm gathering experiences from RUclips and the internet, as well as advice from my lactation consultant.

Caitlin’s face has changed so much in the last year
First off I want to say y'all are both doing an amazing job! Most people don't understand how much breastfeeding is a journey & can affect your mental health both good & bad
Just a tip i learned from my 1st breastfeeding journey when I had my son... babies tend to have a favorite boob but if u don't have them feed from both sides each feeding then ur boobies can become lopsided... i learned the hard way, but i finally got him to feed from the other side more often so now they are evening out.. at one point my left was a B cup & my right was a D cup... it was awkward until they finally started evening out..
Also, to help make more milk make sure each feeding from "the tap" that both boobs get emptied completely... sometimes u might have to pump the rest out... milk replenishes about 15-20 mins after a straight from the source feeding...
Breastmilk at night is also high in the amino acid tryptophan, which in turn helps your baby to make melatonin, which is used by the body to sleep better. So when u pump at night use that milk for nighttime feeds (if possible)
FUN FACT: Oreos help build milk supply i also learned!

I have been exclusively pumping and feeding breastmilk to my baby via a bottle for 5 months now and I have pumping sessions/days where I don’t produce as much for some reason. Sometimes I know it’s because I’ve not eaten or drank enough, other times I don’t know why. Like you said try not to beat yourself up about it, the more you worry and stress the more it will affect your milk supply! When I first starting pumping I used to cover the bottle with a sock so that I couldn’t sit and watch how much milk I was producing!

I had the same problem with my breastfeeding journey and my nipples were really flat I used the medla nipple shields and they saved my breastfeeding journey eventually I weaned off them as my nipple got brought out more as my daughter got older. It affected my mental health thankfully I was able to get a health visitor that specialised in lactation to come to my house and did visits this really reassured my and had special health visitor that was trained for people with mental health issues I suffer with anxiety really bad and had postnatal anxiety so really glad I had her and emotional wellbeing supporting me through 4th trimester.
You guys are amazing and your doing a great job. Would love to know about what breast pads you use and weather you have been freezing your breastmilk or use it in his baths. X

They make pills you can take to trick your body into thinking you're pregnant
And also why? Why would someone even choose to do that when the biological mother can feed the baby and we also have formula? Like I don't understand

sorry, this may have been covered in your other vlogs but i'm new here... how is it that you both have milk? i thought lea is the one that gave birth.
Yes, Leah gave birth. But they already knew they both wanted to breastfeed. So, before the baby was born, Caitlyn was given some pills do induce lactation. In fact, she had to pump that milk for weeks before baby was born and throw it out because it wasn't good yet for the baby (since it contained hormones). When the baby was born and she started breastfeeding, she didn't need anything anymore, because once you start breastfeeding, your body adjusts and produces normally milk
