Not a replacement ! Ian is a conduit. It doesnt hurt he already had a vital rock-n-roll act prior , I really miss The Cult , & b-4 that Southern Death Cult
He has the same kind of charisma that Morrison had. The vocal, while not the same, were certainly fitting. As a fan of both groups and this song, I've no idea why I haven't heard it until now.
I totally agree with you on the Charisma and similar styles I know Ian astbury was a huge fan growing up he idolized Jim Morrison a lot and you can tell
No one is replacing anyone. JIm has been dead since 1971. Why in the world would anyone tell the surviving members not to play their music. There is only one surviving Tempations and they keep playing the hits. Why should anyone tell Ray John or Robby to stop. We know Jim is dead so no one should be compared to him.
amazingly how many singers who get succes without beeing able to sing 100 % properly - isn't he a bit off from the original, tonewise he sometimes slides of the sheet. But hey, it's better than Madonna.
Gotta say that Raymond Manzarek plays much worst now that he did in the 60s...rather than getting better and more skilled within the decades,he sounds like his hands are frozen without any creativity at all when soloing....his organ style in the 60s was way,way better...not to mention the mediocre Vox organ samples he uses in these tours.... :( The overall sensation feels cheap.
In Astbury kommt so rüber als wäre Er die Reinkarnation von Morisson selbst.Das haut mich aus den Socken !
He is a great singer. A fantastic artist like the doors.
Ian is a great choice for this job :))))
the doors storytellers dvd is great, and i love this song the best sung by ian astbury (the cult).
It's the TERMINATOR.

He is ok, I personally think Scott Weiland should have been the one and only singer during the show
@jwatson626 hahahahaha very good =) hahahahhahaha
Scott Weiland from stone temple pilots was another one from this special..he was just as good as Ian, but Ian sounds so right singing morrison songs..
Show me the way to the next Sarah Connor, oooh don't ask why...
ke bien se escucha el teclado de este señor porke es de la decada de cuando estaba jim morrisom el nuevo tecldo moderno se escucha mal

after the song I craved to hear the original-jimmy's voice~jimmy is dead and don't try to imitate him or resurrect him
nezpívá úplně špatně,ale mezi Doors nemá co dělat, není to jeho styl a ani na to nemá.

Astbury went from being an original with The Cult to being a third rate Jim Morrison impersonator.
Sad.
