Can't imagine heating my home with these heaters here in the UK but as you say absolutely standard in most Japanese homes. And I never had a carbon monoxide detector...scary thinking back although my apartment had lots of natural ventilation (drafts)! 😂 Thanks for the video.

Think natural gas stoves release more CO than kerosene. Something to do with the chemistry or they wouldn't be used in doors. It has been understood more recently that they do release other harmful gases though.

I lived in Hokkaido 48 years ago and they used the exact same kerosene heater then as you have now.
